  1. Regarding the cannon, I went back and read a couple of threads from 2008 when it was retired and a couple people said that the cannon is not owned by the school. So, to place it at the field on a permanent basis would require the owner's cooperation, right?
  2. Somebody was asking about the game time. It's 7:30 according to HHS website: http://www.fortthomas.kyschools.us/districtNewsArticle.aspx?artID=1436
  3. Got my tix today (I hate standing in line) and my super-secret-not-too-far-always-open parking place is set! Looking forward to an exciting game and 'Birds win!!
  4. I wasn't there, but I'm not sure if there was a running clock. Final margin of victory was 36 points.
  5. I'm glad people are starting to come 'round to my way of thinking around here... :thumb: Seriously, my point was that HHS's quick-strike ability and aggressive defense will overcome the ball-control strategy. CC may win the time of possession battle, but HHS will still win the points war, IMO. Even if HHS isn't as healthy as CC, I think HHS can overcome that with more depth. They lost all-everything Towles after the first series and still beat Elder.
  6. No, whoever has the most points will win the game. I think that will be HHS.

  8. So HHS would have the ball for 18 minutes? With their quick-strike ability, that's a lot of time.
  9. Also, I predict parking will be a mess on Friday night...
  10. This is the 4A State Championship game, IMO. 'Birds 48-35.
  11. Dress warm tonight folks, it's gonna be a cold one. My wife will be in her early Christmas present a.k.a Highlands sideline jacket - nice and toasty... GO 'BIRDS!!
  12. Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!
  13. To answer mine and rambo's question, I went to Wiki. It said: "Awarded by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters from around the state's Associated Press." As far as I can tell, there are no specific criteria, so each reporter votes however they feel about it based on their own set of criteria. Given that, I would say Towles and Jude are at the top. Based on this season I think it should go to Towles, but those that vote for Jude are looking at it as recognition of his entire career.
  14. What is the criteria and who votes/picks the award?
  15. I'm saying 55-21 'Birds. What say you?
  16. Last week Boyd ran a formation where they had 2 tight ends, two running backs right behind the O-line in the center/guard gap (not really a gap - linemen were toe to toe), QB in the shotgun and a running back next to him. Birds had 11 "in the box." OLB were on the outside shoulder of the tight ends, ILB were 2 yards off the ball, corners and safeties were within the tight ends and 5 yards off the ball. Almost looked like a rugby scrum.
  17. Do you even know the FACTS? Highlands did nothing but follow the rulings of KHSAA and the courts. When those were in conflict, they followed the courts, because the courts trump the KHSAA. HHS did not get an injunction, the parents of Mitchell did. If HHS had not followed the injunction, the parents would have sued HHS. HHS and Mueller did nothing wrong, as was borne out when the KHSAA reversed itself, rescinded all fines and put the Highlands victories back on the books. Why don't you know this? I wasn't even aware of this stuff while it was going on - all of the above info is available with a little googling. But some would rather live in their own reality instead of dealing with the facts. As far as Jude is concerned, he must be quite a runner and I'm looking forward to seeing him Friday night. He's got the record, the memories - nothing can take that from him, regardless of how it was accomplished. As far as the coach is concerned, you reap what you sow...
  18. That's 25% of the male student body! Walk down the hall and one out of four boys are playing football. Amazing!
  19. I think I'll stick around to watch people who live vicariously through high school kids get personally insulted when that kid's coach gets criticized.
  20. I don't see how schedule comes into play here. It's about how the coach handles the schedule. I have no doubt that if Dale Mueller chose to, he could have gotten Pat Towles the all-time passing record by keeping the starters in for 3 or 4 quarters.
  21. 49-0 beginning of 3rdthe qtr.
  22. Birds have run 8 offensive plays and scored 4 d's.
  23. Agree completely. Seems reasonable. But driving there in the ice/snow is not fun.
