Hey can anybody tell me where the Boyle County Catholic thread went to? Im going to be honest with you, im not on this site much because of all the hijacking of threads by Highlands fans. I will not renew my membership because of this.

I think we all enjoy following a team the quality of Highlands. Its a shame they have to bring their fans. There is no hate for the kids, its the nasty were above you attitude of the fans. They rant and rave and hijack threads on here. Most of the highlands fans seem like spoiled brats on these sites. I think Dale is a great coach but being able to get every kid in Campbell Co. that has any interest in playing football doesnt hurt either.I am a casual poster on BGP and dont have any ties to any school. I follow Lex Cath because my kids graduated from there, but enjoy all good H.S. athletics. I wish you Highlands fan would act like you have been there before. I should correct that, I wish some of the Highlands posters on this site would act as if you had been there. Im sure most of the fans are great ones. My comments are directed at the posters I read on here.

Im sure Uk fans are saying that. I have watched the kid play for 2 years. My sons were on the team a few years ago and I follow all the Lex. Cath sports. The strong point about this kid is his mechanics and his athleticism. This is a classic example of another kid that Ky wanted to wait on and swoop in at the last minute. From all I have read that he was a national recruit and on the top of the list for all the SEC schools.If you look at the offer sheets very few schools have offered 2013 QB's I think he has had several offers come in in the last few weeks. If he had decided on Ky he would have been considered great! The true UK fans will be happy for a local kid to go and play anywhere and wish him well. I can say for certain I will have my cardinal hat before long. There comes a point when you have to look at the Kentucky program and wonder why they have always waited on Ky kids. I have talked to this young man and believe me he is confident and doesnt have to wait on UK. Good luck Kyle!

I herd he was getting hammered by colleges after the sept 1st contact date. I was told by a person close to the family that Louisville had always made him feel that he was the number 1 guy and he wasnt intrested in going far from home. I think its a good decision Strong will turn the program around and there is a big buzz in Louisville. Congrats to Kyle he is a great kid and I wish him all the luck.

I dont think UK would be a good spot. I think Barnhart would have some sort of basketball tourny with Ky playing at the exact same time as the Championship games. He has done it the last 2 or 3 years during the playoffs. Bring these no name teams in and play on friday night during H.S. playoffs. Thanks Mitch Barnhart thats a great way to build your football in the state.Joe Hall never did it,friday night is sacred all through the south. I would like to know how much that hurt the gates and consessions state wide.If I were in the KHSAA I would have nothing to do with Ky in any event.

I get so sick of all the Highlands worship on here. If we had open enrollment at Lafayette and could draw every kid that wanted to play football in Fayette Co like Highlands does in Campbell Co we may be able to compete with the Hghlands and Trinitys.My goodness Mueller puts the pads on these kids early from what I understand and they are practicing when the other schools are lifting weights and conditioning and I dont have a problem with that what so ever.Its a great program that has been built at Highlands but common there could be a powerhouse in Fayette Co. if we had an administration that was pro athletics. We have a great SCAPA program and the music Dept has really blossomed since Silberman and Adkins have taken over.If we keep it up we maybe able to completely shut down the middle school programs that way little Johnny wont have his feelings hurt when He is involved in a loss. Im for getting a Hopscotch team going along with jump rope so we can all have our kids learn the importance of feeling good about participating and no child will be left behind!

Yes I agree they are down. They are a player in Baseball. This is a baseball town in H.S, sports.

The same thing that has happened to all Lexingington schools, Baseball has run amuck. The baseball fanatics in Lexington have kidnapped these kids parents at 6 and 7 yrs old and convinced them that they must play baseball year round.They are making money off these kids with lessons at Champions and other baseball schools convincing them that they need to go year round. How else can you become good enough to go to the 12 yr old Cal Ripken World series every single year if you dont.(Same 2 Leagues every single year,Must be great comp.) Oh yes I forgot about all the schollys these kids are chasing and their parents find out the most they are getting is 30% on the high end when they get to H.S.They are spending a fortune to get these kid to St. Cath. Then AAU basketball is a another story. While the dads are playing golf and paying for the Lexus in the drive way momma is carting little johhny off to baseball where he wont get hurt. Same thing going on at all the schools in Lexington. These kids are made to make a choice on what sport they will play at 10 years old. Its really a shame and the kids are the ones that are suffering because they never try any other sport to see what they like.

Catholics offense will have to be on the field to score. I think they ran 40 plays or less at Bell. The D gave up over 400 yards. I cant see another game going Catholics way if the D doesnt get more stops.

Another local kid with excellent talent leaves the state. Your going to see many do this good luck to Vinny.

Ky fans I thought it might be nice to let you guys read on someone other than Pike and Towles. As a matter of fact several articles on Kyle and not a negative comment one about his QB qualities. Several of the sites Scout,247,Rivals have Kyle as being a national recruit for 2013. I watched the kid from the start of the season to end.Not only Bolin but the growth of the offense was amazing.I think there was a switch at OC about mid way through the season and it was off to the races.I havnt seen these other QB's but his athleticism in my estimation was top of the charts. I saw him dominate games offensively with his leggs and his arm. This kid has a feel for the game that is impressive.I always herd some athletes see the game in slow mation and it looked like he does aswell. Congrats to kyle and good luck to him and all the Knights ,I also hear from alot of people he is a fine young man aswell.

Jessamine Co Pitcher Tyler Ward put on a clinic 1 or 2 hitter struck out 12 and had to be sitting at 90. First time I have seen him, mean aswell. I think he was stronger in the 7 th inning than the 1st. Struck Shepard out 3 times.

Well AAU is a different story in itself. In the old days 70's and 80's before AAU you had 2 main summer camps B/C in Millidgeville Ga. which was an invitation camp that was limited to 250 players over 2 different week long sessions and Five Star in Pa. You would be assigned to a team and play with that team all week long. The highest profile players attended the B/C camp from Ralph Sampson to Dominique Wilkins and in between. Every college coach in the country was in the stands to see the best players compete against each other. Now that the NCAA wont allow coaches watching (I think i am correct on that) it has opened the door for the AAU. This allows the AAU coaching pimps influence to be bought to steer players in a certain direction. I for one think this will be the next major scandle in college athletics. Im just not a fan of AAU or the NCAA.

Correct sir. I watched a 5th grade game and 25 three point shots were taken by 1 team and they hit 3. The three point shot is to far for young kids to shoot I would use the line as a restriction if you shoot past it you go to the bench.The number one thing and most important thing to learn is ball handling which has become a lost art. I dont mean standing still going between your legs. I mean learning how to get a shoulder by a man and being able to control the ball with your head up and getting yourself in position to get a shot or pass. Good shooting can be learned in a summer or two, ball handling takes years. The old summer camps used to work on fudamentals all day and you hardly ever used to take a shot if it wasnt a layup. The camps now scrimmage all the time and the kids spend 3/4 of the time running up and down the court. I would like to see more 3 on 3 work at practices learning to pick and roll and play off screens. I Also see to much jump shooting. No great scorer at any level ever relied on a jump shot, the jump shot is a safety valve when you cant get to the basket. The Martin kid can do all this ,he creates length by going off 1 foot and he understands angles as good as any kid I have seen in high school ever.He can rebound in space(tip the ball in traffic where he has the timing and go get it) another fundamental in rebounding.This is not old fashion basketbal its good basketball. There was not a team in the 11th region this year that could have beaten a lexington city team in 1975 it wouldnt be close.Watch a ky game and look at the mistakes made that you wouldnt see made in middle school 20 years ago,throwing the ball back in bounds under the opponents basket no clock awareness, not many smart plays anymore. These kids need to spend time by themselves instead of AAU, develope skills on their own,and put them to test in pickup games. You get 15 to 20 shots a day in AAU if you work on your own you can get 500. That makes a ball player.

I am challenging their knowledge of the game. I have watched ball for 40 yrs and played for just as long. I would say that there may be 5 coaches that I have seen and im sure im missing a few that I would say are qualified to coach H.S. basketbal on an X and O level. Look at the amount of D-1 players the state is putting out now compared to the numbers of 25 yrs ago no comparison. I will say that one problem is the coaching these kids are getting in the youth leagues which in most cases are none. It has gone from experianced ex players to dads who are fans of the game. When you have middle school coaches setting an offense up to get 3 point shots you have serious problems. There are no fundementals taught ,heck I saw varsity teams that didnt have ball skills to get it up the floor this year.I have a question about your comment "talent" explain to me what talent is?

Who are the coaches?Outside of Flynn at Highlands and the Cov Cath coach are there any good oaches left in the state?

Well let me clear this up real quick. Your wrong! how is that? and furthermore you wouldnt know a basketball player from a base fiddle.Your going on hype. There are 4 kids that made made that team that are not in the same area code as Taylor Martin. I saw 5 of them play several times this year.Taylor Martin is one of the best if not the best high school player Catholic has put out in 20 yrs. Dont start with the names I know they are comming. I said High school basketball player. You saw what happened in the state when he didnt have a great game. This kid can do it all and makes players around him better. You guys are enamoured by the dunk shot and a guys skill set and all that other Tom Leach venacular.He controlled games and was the most dominating player on the floor 99% of the time. Go to his stat line against the high calibur competion and you will understand.Look at what he did in the 4th quarter against top notch competition. If im not mistaken he led Catholic in PPG,rebounding,assist,steals, freethrow %.Furthermore he took a beating all year. This was all done with him creating everything because he had nobody to get him the ball or wouldnt get him the ball.

I Just saw this post.I want to make a correction.I dont think it was 9 starters I think the whole team was out and they showed up with the 7th grade bunch. I think someone said there were two starters that missed and a couple of reserves but that couldnt be the case.Just wanted to let everyone know that I saw part of the game and when I found out they suited the cheerleaders up I went home. Shew I was worried if Christian would have had all the kids eligible they would have won 60 to 0

If Taylor Martin isnt a first team All State then they should do away with the honor.I think this shows once again the negativity tword Catholic by the Hearld Leader. If this was voted on by the coaches then it shows why the quality of BBall in the state is where its is. If they are no better at recognizing talent than this then god help high school basketball.
