BigBlue24 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Final Any info on this game...I would like to know how Lex-Cath compares to Highlands now that Boyle has played both teams
PurplePride92 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Disappointing loss but I expect to see LexCath again in November at their place. The problem that has plagued us all year is still prevalent. Our inability to find some consistency on offense and sustain drives is killing us. Against the LexCaths, Highlands and John Hardins we have to finish drives and capitalize on any opportunity that we have. I was very pleased that our defense found a way too slow down the LexCath offense. Their big play ability is what eventually hurt us. If they didn't get a big play they had a hard time moving the ball down field. They had absolutely no running game tonight and seemed to completely abandon the run totally in the second half. Bolin is still a great great qb but I guess he played the game of his life against Boyle last year in November. He seemed better then. He ran the ball a lot more then and tonight he ran it very few times. He is still very impressive and I love watching him play and look forward to watching him finish his high school career this year and next and onto college. Congrats to LexCath, I'll be shocked(and sad) if we don't meet again.
PurplePride92 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Now....the million dollar question.....now that someone has seen LexCath and Highlands against Boyle County how do LexCath and Highlands stack up? I'll just start typing and free balling what comes to mind...... *Towles is a better qb than Bolin but Bolin is not far behind. I believe both can make any pass they want to and I absolutely love the accuracy that Bolin possesses. Towles' running ability is the difference between the two. *LexCath is better defensively than people give them credit for, however, our passing game isn't comparable to Highlands and our passing game did not challenge the LexCath defense the way Highlands(and vice versa) would so I can't accurately assess that. I could see Highlands and LexCath playing an exciting, barnburning, gunslinging shootout with these two qb's at the helm. *We seemed to be able to run the ball effectively on Highlands before we wore down and we could run it on LexCath also. LexCath seemed to abandon the run on us and I thought Highlands did a good job running on us. I actually thought if Highlands hadn't tried to pass so much they may have beaten us much worse. I have to give the edge to Highlands based on what I have seen so far. Of course we all know that all gets thrown out of the window once the game is kicked off. LexCath is certainly capable of defeating Highlands. Doesn't mean they will, just means they have a solid chance. They committed quite a few penalties against us and Bush had 2 fumbles(lost one on 3rd and long and would have been a first down inside the Boyle 25 yard line) after getting hit hard. I was more impressed with Highlands and knowing that was the first game for Boyle and Highlands I'd think that both teams have gotten better. I hope Boyle can get to a rematch with Highlands.....or a first time game with CovCath...whoever wins that rematch. That's just my opinion and what i can think of off of the top of my head. Feel free to ask a question and I'll give you an honest answer. I'll add.....LexCath is young. Regardless of what this team does this year....they will once again be one of the top 3 teams in 4A next year. Possibly even the favorite to win 4A in 2012. Yes, I said and believe that. They return a whole lot of youth.
PurplePride92 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I also met BGPer Bluegrasscard tonight. Great guy that I am glad to have met. It was great to meet you Bluegrasscard. We'll talk soon. Congrats on the victory. See you at your place....hopefully.
PurplePride92 Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 369 yards for Bolin tonight.:lol: Wow. It didn't seem like that much live but uhhh.....yeah....wow. He is fun to watch. And he has a year of high school left. Wow. How many receiving yards did Adam Bush have? Does anyone know? He has to be one of the top 3 receivers in the state. Has to be.
Bluegrasscard Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I also met BGPer Bluegrasscard tonight. Great guy that I am glad to have met. It was great to meet you Bluegrasscard. We'll talk soon. Congrats on the victory. See you at your place....hopefully. It was great to get a chance to meet before the game. It was another close, almost classic, LexCath-Boyle game. LexCath was fortunate to get 2 sets of stops at the end of the game. Hester and Cox were getting good chunks of yards on both drives. The situation was not unlike at Bell County. I think LexCath offense was on the field once in the 3rd quarter. See you in November.
UK fball fan Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I'd be as anxious to see how Highlands stacks up against J.Hardin, too.
PurplePride92 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Here is an article of the game from the Danville Advocate Messenger. http://www.centralkynews.com/amnews/sports/amn-prep-football-lexington-catholic-connects-on-77yard-td-pass-in-final-minutes-to-defeat-boyle-county-2013-20111001,0,1520934.story
PurplePride92 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I'd be as anxious to see how Highlands stacks up against J.Hardin, too. Still gathering info. Rebel or Rebelstat were at both games so they may offer up some info also. They aren't on here as much as they used to be but I'd love to know what they think as well. One person told me that if we could have passed the ball we could have scored on John Hardin. They ne'er used the words 'beaten John Hardin' they simply said 'scored on John Hardin'. It's obvious LexCath can score on John Hardin but they couldn't defeat them either. John Hardin killed our running game and no one has done that in a long long time. From what I have gathered so far their sophomore lineman Matt Elam, maybe, and their linebacker Fleming, I believe, did what they wanted to our offense all night long. Their running back, Harness, had a good night on us as well but for the most part most people I have spoke to came away satisfied with our defensive effort against John Hardin. Strange as that may seem for giving up 28 points. Hopefully someone who was there will answer your question for you while I continue to gather intel.

They won't play this year, so I'm wondering why that would even be brought in to the discussion on this thread.
jpa2825 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Maybe HHS can get JH on the schedule in 2012 with the opening Dixie has provided? I would like to see it.
