After a long summer of not much hurry Shawnee st in Portsmouth Oh . hired Steve Whittaker , founder of the Buckeye Elite travel org , as their head coach . I will serve as batting coach and recruiting coordinator . Due to the long delay in the hiring process we never did find a pitcher for the 2016 season. I love me some Rams but they don't have the horses to hang with Valley. Neither does West. And also Valley is not smaller in number than PHS . Or least very close in number . Valley returns many starters from last season's final 8 ( or 4 ??) team , and no offense to KY but Ohio has tons more teams per division and much more depth than Ky .

Sorry to hijack your thread but I also know of a small college opportunity for a pitcher , 2015 grad . NAIA level. With good grades the money can be there .

I know a kid in Ohio that broke a state record this year , she LOST 8-3 and had 21 K in a 7 inning game . Don't ask for an explanation , I dont have one . I know she beat our team in 2014 in the elite 8 round 1-0 .

We had players in our conference that made 2nd team all state that couldnt have been 1 of our starting 9 .

Funny story about being all state in Ohio , small school division. Long story short version.. We had a pitcher ( a soph) in our conference two years that made 1st all state as an INFIELDER . She threw 3 games against us and went 0-3 and we run ruled them twice. To the best of my knowledge she pitched nearly all their games that season. Our pitcher ( senior) gave up less than 10 total runs , in 14 conference games , as we went undefeated . Our SS hit above 500 in the leadoff spot and had maybe 2 errors on the season. We had ZERO players get any type of state recognition . Funny the same coach who promotes his individual players also promotes his own team . He voted his team # 1 in the state poll every week this year , and they went on to win a grand total of 1 game in the post season. Coaches with agendas that screw over deserving players really hack me off .

How did Raceland fare against LHC ? Is that who knocked them out ? Did it end up being a single elim tourney ?

Raceland has a pretty decent team . The 16th region is very solid this season with 3 teams being clearly ahead of Raceland ( Boyd Co , East Carter and Ashland ) Glad to see Raceland represent the region well.

I've seen parents who would deliver the box score to the local paper in a 15 or 20-0 local softball game if their DD threw a perfect game .

HaHa .. I know a HC who is in his third year .. screwed up the reentry rule and neither his scorekeeper ( home team) or the Blue caught it . He only has 10 players also . HS softball can be crazy. So can all others . I saw stuff at the SEC tourney in Lexington 2 years ago that I swore I hadnt seen since 10u .

Would you say your HS staff knows the rules of the game ? Rules like the legalities of the pitchers windmill , the general requirements for equipment , the reentry rule , substitution rules , etc etc ?

This sat calls for high of 39 with sun, its opening day weekend for a lot of Ohio schools . I'd cancel.

I agree , below 40 with any clouds and/or wind is just too much. We played two years up north in ohio against Jenna Lilly's N Canton Hoover team ( top 10 type nationally ) and the game was delayed 20 minutes for snow in the IF during the 2nd inning. Snow melted off , we resumed. The wind was blowing sleet and snow so hard our pitcher said she couldn't see the catchers signs. That is too cold .

Nice work , I personally did stuff exactly like that for our HS team , brought in a Bobcat , cleared a hillside, chain sawed for days , set up scaffold for a painter I contacted to draw the school symbol on the press box , painted the press box , painted the dugouts , did field maintenance for 4 years , brought in a platform for seating in the LF area , thats prob about 1/2 of it .. then was as an assistant coach without an explanation the year after my kid graduated . Hope your efforts are better appreciated than mine were ( sorry for the thread hijack , your work just looks so similar to what I did )

I've had the Pork belly dish 3 times , only the last time was the pork a bit tough . Other two times were thumbs way up .
