You all have been very gracious and I appreciate the fact you took time to read about our boys. I went to a big high school, played college ball, and you all are right...there is something special about a small school and the relationship with the community. I've lived alot of places, been around football at every level, and I thank God I have been blessed to live in a small town, to follow a school with barely over 200 students, that dresses 26 kids on a friday night, and plays as hard as they do..And the traditions at small schools amaze me, as does the turn out and fan support. Don't think I ever will see the passion that a small school and community have at larger schools...as corny as that Kenny Chesney song may be it sure rings true So thanks again for letting me ramble and taking the time to read about our boys and how proud we are of them. And Once again thanks seniors for letting us share in your lives, accomplishments, and Jacket Pride!

Its not a bad idea to get a trick play in on film to make the next opponent spend time in practice scheming to defend it.

One of the saddest times is the end of football season your senior year in High School. 4 years of sweat, blood, and tears have gone by in a flash. I want to recognize this year's senior class at Williamsburg. No one gave you a chance this year. Everything had graduated the previous year. 3rd in the district if you were lucky. 4 wins at best were the pre season pundits expectataions. What a year you guys had in proving so many "experts" wrong. An eyelash fron the region championship game, hot summer days, laughter, "one family one goal" ringing in our ears. Through tears I write thanking you guys for making my life better. You will never know the lives you touched in this small town this year. Andrew Root - we watched you grow into a man, you were the best offensive lineman, and linebacker in the district, you truly showed "Jacket Pride" this year. Cody Perkins- you played with boundless passion and never failed to rev up the fans. Brent Martin-you were an inspiration as you battled with health issues and always were so happy to be out there. Chris Wright - you were everybody's cheerleader, you may not have played alot, but you were a vital cog. Travis Thomas - you proved everyone wrong, you stayed with it and turned into a tough son of a gun. Ethan Powers - you made something of your self this year, build on that foundation as you become a man. Chris Lowrie - After the broken leg last year you played heart and soul. I'm proud of you and you turned out to be a dang good DB. JP Payne - Son if you're not all state its a travesty. Big catch after big catch..wow. CJ Jones - what if you hadn't been injured? Wow the catches you made against Fairview made us all wish for more. Dylan Abner - wish you hadn't waited til your sr. year to play, you worked hard into a starting job and what a year you had. I hope I didn't leave anyone out but if I did let me say thanks to them as well...You kids made this old man proud....YOU ALL A GREAT EXAMPLES OF WHAT "TEAM" MEANS!!! Fairview has a pretty good team as we in the Burg found out. Easily could be us playing LCA but thats the breaks. After playing Fairview, and seeing LCA on film I have to give the nod to the Eagles. I just think they are too well disciplined. Oops...thats the LCA Eagles I'm talking about

Thanks for your support. Well it sure wasn't like what many predicted. I know alot of folks on the prediction thread seemed to think this was going to be a Fairview blowout. I'm heart broken, but so dang proud of our boys. Fairview had a dog fight on their hands in this one. Their coaches after the game were very complimentary, and they hit the nail on the head, this one could have gone either way. Its sad to see this senior class go, they battle like warriors. This team had a motto of "one family, one goal" this year, and they sure made believers of this community. If before the season anyone had said we'd be district champs, and would play one of the top teams in the state down to the wire in the playoffs, I'd probably have needed CPR from laughing so hard. But, boys you hold your heads high, you accomplished what no one thought you could! I'll do a thank you thread to our seniors next week, but just want to say for now...Thank you boys, Thanks Root, Perkins, Powers, Payne, Lowrie, Jones, Wright, Martin, Thomas, of all the years I've been around football this has been my favorite team. They way you guys have grown, the way you battle, they way you stick together...tears in my eyes I'm so proud of you all. To the young Jackets returning, the seniors have laid your foundation...now build on it!

I am now officially a Raceland Ram fan...hope you folks don't mind adopting this SE Ky boy...lol as with my Williamsburg prediction football is played with heart, so Rams go play with your hearts! In the poll I think I picked LCA, but heck with it...going with my heart here and saying go Rams...Raceland 24 - LCA 20

Well it's Thursday so I guess prediction time for me...Football is a game played with the heart, so I may be crazy but I'm going to pick with my heart. Williamsburg plays lights out and pulls out a tight one...30-26. Best of luck Jackets, keep the season alive!

Hey no offense taken here. I would love to see you good folks down here as well. We are like the second smallest football playing school in the state and even though we aren't world beaters or state champions, we have alot of pride in our boys. We rarely have the atheletes other schools have, yet we, year in and year out, battle bigger and more athletic schools, and usually do well. So I for one, am glad a forum such as this allows our little school some recognition. Heck I've seen the film, and I'd agree that Fairview should be the favorite, I'd pick them if I was a nuetral observer. But I know one thing, I'm proud of our boys and know they will play with all their hearts!

btw...someone mentioned up and coming classes at Raceland and Fairview, I just wanted to mention and congratulate Williamsburg's middle school on winning the state championship over Raceland. Congrats on a job well done young Jackets!

Hate to break in on the Raceland Fairview discussion but was going to talk a second about the weather for the game and how it may affect each team..The forecast is for a really nice night..dry but chilly with a high of 75 and a low of 39. I think it bodes well for the passing game and it should be a good track to play on. I do wish Fairview a safe trip down.

With the loss of all time leading passer Ryan Moses, all state reciever Dusty Brown, and several other seniors, I expected Williamsburg to have an off year. Yet Coach Herron and his staff got these kids to believe and pulled off their 3rd district title in the past 4 years. The senior class of Root, Perkins, Thomas, Payne, Brown, Martin, and Lowrie has been a delight to watch. This team battles and has improved so much from the start of the season.

Although Payne has had a great season, Williamsburg is not a one trick pony. You can't rule out the speed of Lowrie, the big play ability of Hoffman, the tough running of Thomas, and now healthy CJ Jones with his length, and Ethan Powers with his quickness. Also Hamlin seems to always figure out a way to make a play at QB. Does Williamsburg have the weapons Fairview has? Maybe not, but I do feel the Jackets can compete. The Jacket d was tough against Nicholas, except for a couple blown coverages. Nicholas had a chance to get back in the game but the d led by Root, Brown, and Perkins shut any thoughts of a comeback down. Like everyone else I would guess Fairview to be the favorite, but I'm hoping the Jackets can stick around and make a game of it.

I will agree that Fairview is probably more athletic. But, with that being said Williamsburg rarely "out atheletes" anyone they play. Coach Herron instills a belief in these kids that truly is amazing. At times he has them beleiving no mountain is too high. I am amazed at the job his staff does year in and year out. Not quite ready to predict on this one, I'll just say so far Williamsburg has made us proud and I expect they will again this week.

Might need a calculator for this one..gets ugly fast and Corbin names the score.

Pulling for WC but with the game in Harlan County I'd have to pick the bears 28 - 20

Coach Donahue does a great job at Harlan and is a favorite of mine...Pulling for the Dragons in this one!
