Williamsburg comes in the healthiest they've been in awhile, what is the health situation for the campers?

Sounds like its been a tough season for the Campers, but I know this, if it plays out as it usually does it will be a dog fight.

This week the annual neighboring county brawl occurs between Lynn Camp and Williamsburg. Williamsburg dominated a tough Campbellsville squad and was physically dominating, especially on defense. Andrew Root at MLB and nose has been leading this unit with hard hitting Cody Perkins, Travis Thomas, and Kevin Hoffman also playing very well. Offensively the Jackets behind Logan Hamlin at QB, and JP Payne at receiver, along side a new found ground game, have been lighting up the scoreboard. Lynn Camp as always is tough and physical. This one is always a war, one where you hide the women and children. Who wins this tough district battle between two schools who have tremendous enmity for one another? If a moderator could put this into a poll format it would be greatly appreciated

Well prediction time...Williamsburg seems to have returned to its roots lately with a pretty good rushing attack. With Thomas and Hoffman pounding the ball it has opened up the pass for Hamlin and Payne. The O line led by Root and Perkins have been opening good running lanes. Defensively it has been noted the Jackets have been much improved. Coach Hatcher has gone with an agressive dang the torpedos blitzing attack, and when he's lined Root up over the center he has been wreaking Havoc. Campbellsville is quick and has good speed. I think the Jackets play a little more smash mouth though and come away with a tough 28-18 win.

A little surprised no one from either side has weighed in....District Championship probabally at stake here

Huge district matchup this Friday with the winner having the inside track to the district title. The Burg is coming off two wins where it seems the offense behind Back up QB Logan Hamlin has righted itself. Defensively Andrew Root has been a load and with fellow defenders Cody Perkins and Travis Thomas asiisting the defensive unit has played much better. This game is always hard fought. Who wins? Could a mod please put this into a poll format?

I agree, I thought coaches Hatcher, Root, and Abbot, developed a good plan and the kids executed it well. Abner showed much improvement and played his best game on d - line. Jeffers also is improving. The line backing corps of Root, Hamlin, and Hoffman also is playing well. Devin Robinson at strong safety has been a nice surprise. Huge test for the Jackets this next week with Knox Central coming to town.

#60, left tackle offense, Linebacker defense, Only 5'11" so not a d1 kid, but should play NAIA or D2 or 3.

I look for Williamsburg to win this one 36- 12. Powers will be back for the entire game, Hoffman is developing into a very capable back, Root has been dominating on o-line and tough at LB, the offensive line played pretty well overall at North last week and continues to improve.

Both teams licking their wounds a bit after coming of losses last week. Harlan lost at Corbin, Williamsburg lost at North Laurel. This used to be a huge district match up and was always hard fought. Who gets the season back on track with a win in this one? Could a moderator put this into a poll format please?

Really thought North was much improved and very disciplined. I expect they will be in the playoffs this year.

Not saying the Burg would have won, but it was a different offense the second half with Powers in at QB. Williamsburg moved the ball the first half, but turnoveres killed them. It is also easy to forget that only 2 starters returned on defense for the Jackets, Root and Perkins and both played extremely well Friday. I think Williamsburg grew up quite a bit Friday night. Root had as dominating a game at left tackle on offense as I've seen in quite sometime. When Hoffman ran to that side he was pretty unstoppable. Hoffman is going to turn out to be a tough weapon in Williamsburg"s arsenal. I look for the Jackets to be very tough when district rolls around.

David vs. Goliath in this one. I should think North would be the favorite and if I picked with my head I'd go with them. However my heart won't let me and I'll go with the Burg in a tight one.

I agree the first half was shaky but the Jackets calmed down and exploded the second half. Powers has a very live arm and Payne and Jones were tough to match up with. Overall the offensive line played better than the previous weeks scrimmage with Pineville. Was very impressed with the linebacking corps of Hoffman, Thomas, and Root. Root and Hoffman were making plays all over the field. Sawyers also played well and improves daily. As I recall The line gave up no sacks which bodes well if they can keep it up.Root was solid at left Tackle, and Abner and Sawyers seemed to do well at the guards. North Laurel next and will tell just how far these young Jackets have come. If memory serves correct I believe that only 6 or 7 players had any real game experience coming in to this one.

You are right the continuos run of the clock really limited both teams. I did see some good positives from Williamsburg though. I thought they were very nervous at first, but settled in to a good rythm in the second half. Was very impressed with the option game as Powers made some good reads and Lowery ran well. Thomas also ran well and as this offensive line continues to improve I think Williamsburg will put up points. What I was most impressed with was the defense. The Linebacking core of Root, Hoffman, Thomas, and Hamlin looks to be a strength. Root fills well and will improve at getting personnel in the right place, and Hoffman and Thomas cover alot of ground. I am looking forward to seeing how the Jackets improve from this scrimmage to the opener this Friday night at Jellico.

You all will find Russ to be a class act.

Not Just Root but Perkins and Lowery as well. These three will be in key leadership roles.

Williamsburg lost record setting QB Ryan Moses, All State receiver Dusty Brown, and defensive leader Jeremy Collins to graduation...does that mean the Jackets tank is empty? The Jackets definitely have to do some building but there is a nice foundation there. Coach Herron returns several key players from last year's district runner up, and if the pieces fall into place it could be a very good year. The foundation starts with what could be the best offensive line in a few years. Cody Perkins and Andrew Root will anchor at tackles and both should have banner years. Look for these two to be beasts this fall. Devin Jones at center is smallish but quick.Although the guard positions may be a tad unsettled there is lots of potential from Chris Wright and Coty Croley. In spite of losing Brown the receivers will be solid. CeeJay Jones brings a years experience, and JP Payne has all star potential. The question is who will get them the ball. Look for Ethan Powers, who has a very live arm, to get the first shot, but don't be surprised to see Chris Lowery get snaps as well. Lowery will be the Jackets version of the utility guy as he will line up everywhere and is dangerous with his speed. A pleasant surpirse at F has been Kevin Hoffman who is very athletic. Look for Travis Thomas to back him up. On the defensive side of the ball look for major improvement. Root should be the leader from the Mike LB slot. He has the same nose for the ball his older brother had, and is extremely intellegent. Perkins will probably play off the edge and can wreak havoc with his pass rush. Hoffman will contribute with his athleticism at OLB. The DBS will also be better and look for several personnel combos there. Brent Martin along with several others should contribute. The key as always will be injuries. The Burg could win the district or finish last contingent upon this factor. One thing I know is Coach Herron and his staff will have this group ready to play.

Maybe it was also a great pitching performance and not just a bad loss.
