I have watched girls high school basket ball for 5 years and I don't think i have ever personally witnessed a 30 point game , let alone 2 in the same game. these girls should be very proud of themselves. I do wonder what the coaches were doing though about stopping the other one from scoring. If you can't stop a girl from driving to the basket then deny her the ball or play zone and make her shoot outside. I'm old school I guess and believe defense wins titles. Still this sounded like a fun game to watch. Good luck to BC the rest of the way. -

What is happening at SH. They started the season so well and had high hopes this year. they have better talent than this. Has the coach changed the way they game plan or are the girls just losing interest in the season. I think after losing to NCC in the all A they really lost interest. They put alot of energy into there big goal of going down state for the A. When they lost it seemed to deflate them a little. They are to good to be losing by such big margins and to teams that they are far more talented than. The coach needs to get these girls focused quickly or their season will be over before it needs to be. Nothing wrong with losing, but you want to walk off the court knowing you left it all out there. The seniors won't want their careers to end in a half hearted effort. Good luck girls. -

Nice win. What happened in the last 3 minutes that wasn't happening earlier? Did BC press late and not earlier. Did SHA give it away at the line or were there guards that rattled facing the pressure. You wouldn't expect a top team in the state to lose their composure that badly. BC must have done someting special to turn it around that drastically. Congrats ladies nice win for you and the region. -

NDA is playing some great ball considering how young they are. they might make some noise in the 9th regional. If they learn how to win these close games. That usually comes with experience so look out the next few years. Congrats to Ryle They have had alot of tough games since the Boone victory. It can only help in post season play. Shouldn't be to many easy games by then. As it should be. -

If murphy did play only 2years. She must have been one hell of a baller. That many points in 2 years and no 3 point shot. I would have liked to see her play. -

SHA should be able to win this at home. Boone would have a much better chance on a nuetral court. -

It wouldn't be a mockery if all districts did a blind draw. What makes it a mockery is all the districts get to do it differently. It is a state tournament. It should be the same statewide. -

It seems like eveyone is writing off St Henry and making this a four man race NCC, Ryle, Boone and ND. -

Sounds like Dawn ball was the right ball ! You Don't go into a game saying lets give the fans a show. You say lets go out and do what it takes to win. You don't punch with a puncher you stick and move. Ryles coach I'm sure is seeing a trend here and will game plan to try to stop this, but if this is a weakness in Ryles system sometimes it is hard to change who you are and if thats the case they could be in trouble. I don't understand why Ryle stays in that zone so much. They have the athletes to play man all night against about anyone. I'm sure Ryle will rebound and be back to their winning ways. 9th is definately wide open! -

At least blind luck got it ridght this year, but its ashame we have to rely on luck to get it right. Also what is going on this year there seems to be much less interest in this rivalry than the last few years. As a matter of fact less interset in girls basketball in general. NCC is playing Ryle tonite and it seems noone is talking about it. -
I absolutely am impressed with what Ryle has done this year. They have traveled all over and have had great success in doing so. They have over come their demons in defeating Boone after so many close calls, and have positioned themselves as favorites in the ninth region. NCC is close to the top of the mountain that Ryle now appears to sit atop of, and for them to get to the top they need to overcome some short comings they had against RYle as ryle did against Boone. I look forward to seeing if NCC can slay their own demons in Ryle.

I surrender. I did look backand there are some other examples but as someone stated in another post good programs attract talent without ever being persued. My problem was actually with the fact the BOE allowed her to be eligible without sitting out a year . that has nothing to do with her or Boone. I checked into it once when I thought about tranferring my kid t and was told she would definately have to sit out and we moved from outside of the new scool district into the ditrict her sophmore year and since she palyed varsity as a froshman she would miss her sophmore eligibilty. I'm not trying to start a new topic just stating what I experienced. I've met syd and she seems extremely nice and I wish her well I just think the state rules need to be more consistant. NOW lets shut thiis thread down before someone responds to this and I'll be unable to resist answering back . -

Very impressed with O-Cath. From last year to this year. I thought they were pretty much a one girl team. Greenwell is the best player in the state IMO, but the rest of the girls must have really stepped up their game. Last year the girls around her were role players waiting for her to do something. Apparently not the case any longer. -

Miss moss is the primary one at nthis point, but with research I have heard of many others over the years. Many post last year particularly dealt with it. If you want I'm sure other BPGers could help me out with the other examples. In the mean time I'll research it myself. -

I give a slight edge to Ryle because of the emotion spent over the weekend. Ryle also has a slight edge in talent (and I do mean slight). However Ron is very good at getting the girls ready for big games and he should be able to game plan well enough with the help of the home crowd NCC just might pull the upset, but alot of things will have to go their way. their shots have to fall, the press has to be effective and they must rebound as a team. Ryle has had a couple games that really make you wonder what happened (HHS), but i don't see them looking past NCC that way. 3-5 pt game either way. If NCC can get back their swagger by game time. If not it could be a long night. I think Ron won't allow that though.

I definately liked the old NCC-HHS rivalry. We were witness to a few very hotly contested games over the last few years. as for Ron winningmost of his games I think Ron would agree he has over the years and does have a little more than mediocre players. The three starting Sr. guards are very skilled players and he has a nice group of girls supporting them. Ron would be the first to tell you without the players there is little a coach can do. Ron does however know how to coach to his teams strengths and is a very good leader, but once the ball goes up in the air it is for the mos part up to the players. I just found out that NCC has been Knocked out of the ALL A tourney. I am sorry to here that I know the girls played their hearts out -

Actually I have coached, but regardless of how much I teach them it is up to them to execute. The players are the most important part of the equation. 70-30. If a mediocre coach has great talent, they can still win most games, but if agreat coach has mediocre talent he will bee lucky to win half of the games. Coaching is important, especially when the talent level is close to even. Nell in most cases over the years has had the most talent. Her player pool is larger than most of the schools in NKY but not down state which is where her coaching might help them one day get over the hump. In NKY she usually can rely in part on having the most talent. And I'll probably be persecuted for saying this but if she doesn't have the most talent she is very good at finding it. -

The booing of a high school player is childish and immature. I hope the the only people acting like this were the children. Kids are going to be kids and there is very little that can be done to prevent this. The student section is always going to try to rattle the opposing players that is why the are there. It sounds like Miss Moss handled it well, and the Ryle kids did what you expect from kids. -

NCC looks to have it all going. I don't think anyone will be able to handle the pressure D that NCC sends at them.Very few teams face teeams that pressure the ball the way NCC does. Good luck girls keep up the pressure. -

I doubt if any of the girls need extra motivation for this game, but if its possible for her to get up more for the rematch then maybe this will do it for her.
