Ryle 60 Boone County 50

Featured Replies

Final from Union. It was a great atmosphere and a great game. The box and chaser that Ryle ran all night on Shrout was very gutsy and very effective. Boone had a hard time figuring it out in the first half being down 23 to 16. They came out strong in the second half and Moss got going. Ryle answered the run and controlled things down the stretch with their spread offense.

I believe that every team in the 9th Region has a loss within the Region.

I thought the Ryle game plan was excellent with Dawn Johnson on Shrout. That took away Shrout as a 3-point threat and also took away one of Boone's best ball handlers. With quick foul trouble on two of Boone's other guards they had to move Moss out front to help handle the ball. That's where I think most Boone County opponents would prefer her to be.

Ryle got great play from Jenna Crittendon and Ashley Cheeseman and strong support from their other players. Johnson also contributed offensively by hitting several short jumpers at critical times. Boone had difficult stopping Ryle's dribble-drive offense and as a result sent the Lady Raiders to the line a bunch. Wish I had a box score because I'm sure I'm missing someone.

Moss had but 4 points at halftime but came out strong in the third to actually get Boone to a lead. Her last bucket to total a game high 23 was followed by the anouncement that she had hit the 2000 point mark for her career. Lydia Nash also had a nice game for Boone as she posted up well and contributed a bunch of rebounds.

But Ryle continued to plug away, forced a bunch of front court turnovers and converted them to easy scores, and pulled away at the line at the end as Boone was forced to foul.

As Papabear says, this was a great atmosphere for HS basketball, particularly girl's HS BB!

Why did Jump sit almost the whole 4th qtr?

I spoke to her mother in the first half and she said Abby was sick and feeling really bad. Perhaps that is why.

I think this may be incorrect Moss scored the first 4 points of the game and I think she had maybe 8 at the half. Regardless her shots were not falling in the first half. This was a great game and Ryle's GP worked. Nash had the best game I have seen her play she was very aggressive and got after it on the boards. Bottom line in this game was Ryle's team game. Everyone contributed and worked together to secure this win. I look forward to the next matchup!

I agree, Nash did play stronger than I have seen her play before. Syd couldn't buy a bucket except in the 3rd and Ryle took the ball to the basket time after time with no one to stop them. Great team play from Ryle. I also thought T. Douthit's 3 pointer at the end of the 3rd was huge. Momentum shifted to Ryle the rest of the way.

Yes that three stung a little!

I think this may be incorrect Moss scored the first 4 points of the game !

She had 4 in the first half.

Fun game , great atmosphere. As I said earlier in the week, I wish these 2 teams could play every week. Congratulations to Sydney on scoring her 200th career point. quit an accomplishment. I thought Ryle did a great job of keeping her at bay in the 1st half. She came out strong in the 2nd half but she can't do it alone. #42 had a great game but not much help from the rest of the Boone squad. Jenna Crittendon had another all around game. she plays the game harder than anyone, boy or girl I have seen in quite a while. Looking forward to Round #2. 2000 points, sorry!

2000 not 200 points.

I was impressed with Boone's #42 and her ability to battle and rebound. Needs work offensively though. Hard worker.

Great strategy in taking Schroth out of the game. Ryle's coach catches some heat about her coaching decisions sometimes but that was a good one.

Boone's outside shooting killed them.

Moss looked tired after the 3rd quarter run she made. Way too many shots coming up short. I'd like to see her be a bit more selfish offensively on this team.

Crittenden looked good. However, she missed too many bunnies after making a great move to get to the rim.

#25 for Ryle has a great pull-up jumper in the lane. Not a lot of high school girls can do that.

Cheeseman killed her defender off the dribble. Hint to Boone: She's going right.

Great, great atmosphere. It's sorely missed in NKY most nights in most gyms.

Ever since the Christmas break Ashley Cheeseman has been on a mission. Not too many teams can keep up with her let alone make her go left. Once in a while she'll try to stop her drive and try to pull up and get a travelling call, but 9 time out of 10 she is going to the line or making the shot then going to the line.
