Great rally for Bishop Brossart hitting a two just inside the line for the final 50-49 margin. Rogers 20 and Spence 13 for Montgomery Co. while Futscher (14), Stadtmiller (13) and Eisenman (13) led the Brossart attack. Montgomery JV won by two at 34-32. Montgomery Co. now 22-6 Brossart 21-6. Two teams that should meet again in a huge regional game later.

Lady 'Stangs Cage Lady Jags 71-58 | Bishop Brossart High School Girls' Basketball | iHigh.com It was one of those games that even though it was close and the lead exchanged hands 13 times...you felt good about winning in the end. That feeling held up Saturday night at Seither Center as the Lady 'Stangs overcame 18 turnovers to hold on for a 71-58 win over visiting Cooper. The win raises Brossart's region leading win total to 21-5 while Cooper falls to 13-13 with their fourth consecutive loss. Brossart seemed to pull away a bit in the first quarter but the Lady Jags roared back cutting the lead to 29-28 at intermission. Brossart extended that to 48-44 after three and then put the game away in the last two minutes for their largest lead of the game..the final score at 71-58. The Lady 'Stangs dominated most categories outrebounding Cooper 45-31, outshooting them 43.5% to 37.7% and points off the bench at 21-17. The Lady 'Stangs won the game at the foul line connecting on 31 of 48 attempts while Cooper made 14 of 22. The Lady 'Stangs committed 18 turnovers to 15 for Cooper. Junior center Sarah Futscher closed to within 18 points (982) of the 1,000 point club with a game high 21 points hitting 7 of 12 shots from the floor and 7 of 11 from the line. She also had 8 rebounds. Junior guard Abby Stadtmiller added 17 and was nails from the line connecting on 11 of 13 freebies and picking up three assists. Junior Madison Eisenman came back from her injury, and while not scoring, did a nice job adding 3 assists and 3 steals while dividing time with senior Rachel Hartig. Freshman Emily Schultz did an impressive job off the bench for the Feldmann ensemble scoring 13 including 3 of 4 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line. She also had 8 boards. Junior guard Katey Pittman led Cooper with 13, while junior Paige Ross added 11 and senior Andrea Thompson 10. That sets the state for the battle for the 10th Region Monday night at Seither Center. (Varsity 7:30, JV 6:00) between Bishop Brossart (21-5) and Montgomery Co. (21-6) Both teams are undefeated in Region and District play this year. A win would at least be good for Region Favorite bragging rights headed into the post season. In the junior varsity contest tonight freshman Emily Schultz was also the leading scorer with 12 followed by freshman Abby King (9), sophomore Rachel Blank (6) and freshman Sydney Shannon (5). The Lady 'Stangs outrebounded Cooper 28-19 and trailing 32-33 with just seconds remaining raced down court and won the game as the buzzer sounded on a shot from the line by Schultz.

High School regulations say fences need to be 185 to 225. We don't wnat games to0 be decided by home runs so we will be at maximum but regulation

It was an interesting game that saw the Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart win their 20th game of the year for the second consecutive season. Their 20-5 record is now the top record in the 10th Region just ahead of Montgomery Co. (20-6) who they host on Monday Evening. The next four teams they defeated this season already Nicholas Co., Bracken Co., Mason Co. and Scott. They will also host Cooper on Saturday. The final scorer Bishop Brossart 61, Newport 48 On paper it was a matchup of 19-5 Brossart and 14-8 Newport but the Lady Cats battled hard and led for a bit of the first half after Brossart had jumped on top 7-0. A jumper right before the half game Brossart at slim 19-17 lead at the half. The lead exchanged hands twice and was tied three times. Brossart shot just 29.6% in the first half but still outshot Newport who hit at a 27.3% clip. The second half though was all Brossart as they opened up as much as a 20 point lead at 43-23 and cruised to the win. Junior Sarah Futscher led all scorers with 27 points while junior Abby Stadtmiller chipped in with 11. Brossart led in most categories for the game including free throw points (13-10), rebounds (37-33), and points off the bench (15-2). They shot 53.6% in the second half to finished with an overall 41.8% to 37.8% advantage from the floor. The junior varsity beat Newport 51-9 led by Olivia Nienaber and Emily Schultz with 10 each and Abby King with 8.

Everyone is idfferent. The Brossart - NCC game will be on as scheduled tonight unless anything would happen between now and then. Most early closings are based, not on the actual roads and weathers near the school, but on the roads and safety of students in outlying areas getting to the school safely. In our case this decision was made after Campbell Co. Schools closed this morning and at around 5 AM. Since the game is 13 hours later we should be fine. Attending a game is also a choice for fans not mandetory. As long as the two schools feel the players can make it safely we will play.

Just for everyone's information. I know there are some mistakes etc that were posted earlier. Gate will open at 5 PM or when all the gate workers are in place. JV Game Starts at 6 PM. We will close down if and when the police/fire department tell us we have reached the safe maximum numbers. Please understand that is not our call. Contrary to previously posted, there will be no cheese coney sales at 4:15 since there is not a freshmen game and the gates wont even be opened til 5 PM. Good luck to veryone and hopefully it will be a good game for everyone. Admission will be $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Students and Senior Citizens. Passes will be accepted BUT ONLY ONE PERSON PER CARD PERIOD. NO GO MUSTANG CARDS TONIGHT ACCEPTED.

Just more jealousy and of course remember NCC and Highlands continued to play slow pitch long after BBHS converted to fast pitch. I just laugh while we keep winning and getting them in the Hall of Fame.

We still have all the fencing to put up in the next few weeks, a drainage line will be put at the base of the hill at first base. The Runoff the hill is causing the water, but after all it's rained a whole lot lately. We'll post some pics when its completed a a few weeks.

It was an emotional roller coaster at the end of the Bishop Brossart - Frankfort contest in the Touchstone Energy Kentucky State All "A" Classic for both Frankfort and Bishop Brossart. Frankfort's Brianna Burbridge let fly with a long three pointer with just 11 seconds remaining to erase a Bishop Brossart 39-37 lead and give the hometown favorites a 40-39 advantage. Bishop Brossart's Madison Eisenman quickly took the ball out of bounds made a crisp pass to Sarah Futscher at the three point line who made a perfect pass to Maria Greis. Greis in turn threaded a pin point strike to Abby Stadtmiller on the run who laid the ball in a second before the buzzer to give the Lady 'Stangs what seemed to be a 41-40 win as time expired. BUT WAIT! The officials huddled at the scorer's table with the timer for what seemed to be an eternity before waving their arms as if they were waving the basket off. The Frankfort bench erupted in joy, the hometown fans went balistic thinking the basket had been ruled late and the Lady Panthers had won. BUT WAIT! It seems what the officials were discussing was whether Stadtmiller was fouled before the shot and should get a free throw as well. They were signaling the game was over and the Stadtmiller basket was good. Then the announcement was made. It was official...Bishop Brossart won 41-40 and would advance to the State Semifinals to once again face Newport CC on Saturday morning. Now it was the Lady 'Stangs bench and fans that erupted in excitement. "Wow, this is the type of game you'll remember forever years later, " exclaimed an exhausted Coach Josh Feldmann."You have to give Frankfort and their coaches a lot of credit. I'm so proud of our team." Brossart outshot Frankfort from the field 37.6% to 22.6%, and outshot them from the line 79.2% in a game that saw 7 lead changes and 8 ties. Brossart made 19 of 24 free throws. Frankfort led a great deal of the game including a 21-16 advantge at the half as Brossart shot only 28.6%. They outrebounded BBHS 40-33 with a whopping 19-3 edge in offensive rebounds. The Lady Panther's Shauntae Brown was scoring 18 points hitting 8 of 11 from the line but hitting only 5 of 16 from the field. Trailing 37-34 with 1:54 remaining Sarah Futscher made a driving layup and was fouled by Burbridge. She converted the free throw to tie it at 37 all. Following Jasmine Washington's failed three point attempt, Brossart marched back down the floor and Rachel Hartig gave the 'Stangs a 39-37 advantage on a nice assist from Eisenman. That set up Burbridges three bomb with 11 seconds and the classic ending for the game. Futscher wound up with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Abby Stadtmiller had 15 including the game winner. Hartig had 4 with Maria Greis and Morgan Verst each netting 2 to round out the scoring. Brossart is now 18-4 while Frankfort falls to 13-5. The Lady 'Stangs advance to the semifinals for the second straight year to face NCC. at 10 AM Saturday. "Years from now I hope they don't forget the whole play," said Feldmann "not just the layup but the passes from Eisenman to Futscher to Greis. They all had to be perfect and they were." Teamwork!

It was a game similar to last year's titanic struggle with Louisville Collegiate where the Mustangs fell a bit short falling 57-52 in overtime. This year Bishop Brossart hung on for a hard fought 54-49 win in the opening round of the Touchstone Energy All "A" Classic in Frankfort, Ky. Brossart dominated the statistic categories outrebounding the Titans 24-23, outshooting them 46.7% to 45%, assists 10-4, three point percentage 33.3% to 14.3%, and free throw percentage 62.5% to 57.9%, in a game that wasa tied twice and exchanged leads 4 times. The Mustangs opened an 8 point lead at 33-25 but couldn't put the Titans away, at one point in the closing minutes missing five straight free throws until Alex Trentman secured the final margin hitting two in a row to take a 52-49 lead to a two possession game at 54-49. Justin Saunders had 18 points to lead Brossart followed by Drew Burns and Alex Trentman with 10 each. Brossart is now 18-3 while Collegiate falls to 11-7. Bryce Overstreet had 17 for Collegiate David Keyer 10 The Mustangs play 19-4 Russell now at 6:30 PM Friday. The girls take on Frankfort tomorrow morning in the eyeopener at 8:30 AM.

:dancingpaThe Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart started their 2013 Title Run in the Touchstone All "A" State Classic in Frankfort, Ky. Wednesday like a team that could go all the way. The were torrid in the first quarter outracing the Lady Tigers 18-5 with a combination of inside and outside firepower. They continued the attack thru halftime when they held a solid 33-20 lead. However Murray was not going to go quietly. "We thought if we could get ahead we had a chance to sustain the momentum," commented Murray Coach Rechelle Turner "But Bishop Brossart is a good team and well coached they did a great job." Brossart is now 17-4 while Murray falls to 17-4. "We may have bended a bit , but I was proud of them they held on," smiled a happy Coach Josh Feldmann who guided his team to the semifinals last year. Murray entered the game, ratings wise as a favorite and ranked as the second best Class A team in the tournament. Brossart was ranked 6th. Both teams made some nice game adjustments. Murray moved the zone out a bit in the second half to take away Brossart's hot outside shooting to help cut the lead to just two points but the game was never tied and the Lady 'Stangs never lost the lead. They broke open the two point lead down the stretch outscoring their counterparts 21-13 for the 61-49 win. Brossart held a huge lead in points off the bench (20-2) and led most other categories including rebounding (38-25), free throw points (13 to 8), and three point points (18-15). That countered the sharp shooting of senior guard Janssen Spraks who scored a game high 25 points but was held to just 8 of 24 from the floor and 2 of 9 from 3-bomb range. She was a perfect 7 of 7 from the line. Brossart outshot Murray 44.7% to 35.3% from the floor, 50% to 27.8% from three point, and 76.5% to 66.7% from the line. Junior Julie Thiede had 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady 'Stangs were led by junior guard Abby Stadtmiller with 13 points including 6 for 10 from the floor and 4 assists. Junior center Sarah Futscher drilled in 10 points and had a big 13 rebounds. Junior Cori Ziegler had perhaps her best shooting game of the year hitting 4 of 5 from the floor, and 2 of 3 from three point to also add 10 points. Morgan Verst and Madison Eisenman returned from injuries to contribute. Verst hit some clutch free throws down the stretch going six for six and ending up with 8 points. The rest of the BBHS scoring had Hartig with 5, Eisenman 2, Young 7 and Greis 6. Brossart will take off Thursday for school and then return to prep for hometwon favorite Frankfort who beat overmanned West Carter. The game will be Friday AM at 8:30 AM so bring the coffee and donuts. The Bishop Brossart boys gear up for a state rematch with Collegiate Thursday at 1 PM. Collegiate upset the Mustangs 57-52 in overtime last year. Hopefully this year will be a different story.
