It was one of those games that even though it was close and the lead exchanged hands 13 times...you felt good about winning in the end. That feeling held up Saturday night at Seither Center as the Lady 'Stangs overcame 18 turnovers to hold on for a 71-58 win over visiting Cooper. The win raises Brossart's region leading win total to 21-5 while Cooper falls to 13-13 with their fourth consecutive loss.

Brossart seemed to pull away a bit in the first quarter but the Lady Jags roared back cutting the lead to 29-28 at intermission. Brossart extended that to 48-44 after three and then put the game away in the last two minutes for their largest lead of the game..the final score at 71-58.

The Lady 'Stangs dominated most categories outrebounding Cooper 45-31, outshooting them 43.5% to 37.7% and points off the bench at 21-17. The Lady 'Stangs won the game at the foul line connecting on 31 of 48 attempts while Cooper made 14 of 22. The Lady 'Stangs committed 18 turnovers to 15 for Cooper.

Junior center Sarah Futscher closed to within 18 points (982) of the 1,000 point club with a game high 21 points hitting 7 of 12 shots from the floor and 7 of 11 from the line. She also had 8 rebounds. Junior guard Abby Stadtmiller added 17 and was nails from the line connecting on 11 of 13 freebies and picking up three assists. Junior Madison Eisenman came back from her injury, and while not scoring, did a nice job adding 3 assists and 3 steals while dividing time with senior Rachel Hartig.

Freshman Emily Schultz did an impressive job off the bench for the Feldmann ensemble scoring 13 including 3 of 4 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line. She also had 8 boards.

Junior guard Katey Pittman led Cooper with 13, while junior Paige Ross added 11 and senior Andrea Thompson 10.

That sets the state for the battle for the 10th Region Monday night at Seither Center. (Varsity 7:30, JV 6:00) between Bishop Brossart (21-5) and Montgomery Co. (21-6) Both teams are undefeated in Region and District play this year. A win would at least be good for Region Favorite bragging rights headed into the post season.

In the junior varsity contest tonight freshman Emily Schultz was also the leading scorer with 12 followed by freshman Abby King (9), sophomore Rachel Blank (6) and freshman Sydney Shannon (5).

The Lady 'Stangs outrebounded Cooper 28-19 and trailing 32-33 with just seconds remaining raced down court and won the game as the buzzer sounded on a shot from the line by Schultz.
