  12. Picking all-tourney selections is a horrible chore for a coach. You want the athletes to be recognized but at the same time you promote (at least we do) teamwork all year then have to single out a select few for awards at the end. Bishop Brossart, based on this tourney and nothing else, probably had 5 very very worthy candidates if not more but there was only 3 spots. Suddenly, after you win or lose a big tourney game you have the tournament director standing there asking for your picks. You have less than 5 minutes to decide and try and remember what everyone has done in two games even before you have time to tally anything. You do the best you can. You take care of your players the best you can especially on awards based on the year and your team awards you give at the end of the season. Our coaches and players would give up every trophy or award they ever have gotten individually for a Region Title. The players who received the awards on both teams were deserving of these honors but there are always others who made great contributions to your success. This is a TEAM game an ultimately that's where the emphasis should be. Congratulations to the ladies on all four teams who were selected:thumb:
  13. There were coaches and forecasters in the softball world that said a Bishop Brossart win over Campbell County in the 37th District Championship would be an upset. History and the facts spoke a different analysis. In the end The Bishop Brossart Lady 'Stangs defeated The Lady Camels of Campbell County today 10-0 in run rule fashion winning at Alexandria City Park. A nice crowd was on hand. Even Coach Baynum's new grand daughter Mila took in the action wearing her new Lady 'Stangs Blanket. Bishop Brossart wins their 5th Straight 37th District Championship and 10th in 12 years. It was their second win this year over Campbell County and 19th straight over their crosstown rival . The last time the Lady Camels beat the Lady 'Stangs in post season fast pitch softball was on May 25, 2005 in a 12-11 8 inning barn burner when they played in the 36th District and current Bishop Brossart pitcher Karlie Shackelford (19-12) was 7 years old. Shackelford ran her career record over the Lady Camels today to 8-0 with the shutout. Brossart prevented an early Camel attack when Miller was cut down at the plate on a nifty tag by Amanda Lloyd and a strong throw by rightfielder Maria Seiter. The game remained scoreless til the third inning when, with one out, Macy Griffin slapped a single and then Ashley Childress followed with a sharp single to left. Riley Orth then slapped a ball to short but was safe at first on a fielders choice when a hustling Griffin beat the throw to third on the play. Amanda Lloyd then drilled a clutch two rbi shot to not only put Brossart up 2-0 but also break the schools fast pitch record for rbis in a season with numbers 56 and 57. Amanda Graus then made her return from an injury running for Lloyd. A Boesch single plated Orth to make it 3-0. The Shackelford reached on a fielders choice, followed by a clutch single by Kaitlyn Seiter. A throwing error by Campbell Co. kept the inning alive allowing the final runs to score for a 7-0 Brossart lead. In the fourth The Lady Camels mounted a comeback loading the bases with one out but a strikeout and a fly out to center squashed the rally. In the bottom of the fourth, Brossart kept rolling. Childress and Orth singled and then raced home on a two rbi double by Lloyd (numbers 58 and 59) to make it 9-0. Moments later, with two outs Kaitlyn Seiter got her second clutch rbi single of the game to make it 10-0 scoring courtesy runner Amanda Graus. In the top of the fifth, despite a walk and single, Brossart retired the Lady Camels for the run rule victory. Amanda Lloyd was named tournament Most Valuable Player with seven rbis in two games and stellar play behind the plate. Ashley Childress and Riley Orth were selected All-Tournament. Childress batted .800 and scored 5 runs without an error at second. Orth played great defense in center and also batted .800. It was a great team effort scoring 28 runs in the tourney without allowing a run. They now await the 10th Region Draw Saturday and will play a District Runnerup on Monday. It was Bishop Brossart's 22nd win of the season while Campbell Co. falls to 17-14. Brossart is still a young team with only two seniors. If it was an upset it was a good one. :thumb:
  14. They follow the NKAC Guidelines in some cases teams play up in Division. Size wise for instance Bishop Brossart is really Division III but chooses to play up in all sports.
  15. Still waiting on his Dixie results hes slacking
  16. Bourbon County was on a roll winning it's last three of its last four games over arguably two of the top teams in the 10th Region George Rogers Clark (14-5) 7-4, Montgomery Co. (13-9) 6-5 and Lexington Lafayette (20-10) 8-2. They lost to Madison Central 12-10 who won their own tourney two weeks ago that Brossart was in. Tonight though the Lady 'Stangs put it all together in an impressive 8-1 win over Bourbon Co. in Paris. Brossart outhit the Lady Colonels 11-3 with Bourbon's only run a solo blast to left off the bat of designated hitter Ellis in the fourth inning. The Lady 'Stangs struck early with a run in the first when Ashley Childress reached on an error advanced to second on a fielders choice and moved to third on an infield hit by Amanda Lloyd. She then scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Jordyn Boesch. The second inning saw the Lady 'Stangs send 11 batters to the plate scoring seven times with Lloyd doubling in two and Childress, Graus, Orth, Boesch and Kaitlyn Seiter all knocking in a run. That gave them an 8-0 lead. Meanwhile Brossart flashed the leather make several outstanding plays, three of the diving variety by Childress, Lloyd and Megan Seiter. On the mound Karlie Shackelford tossed a three hitter before getting in a bit of a jam in the seventh when Megan Seiter came in for a save to preserve the 8-1 win. Brossart is 19-11 now while Bourbon falls to 11-10. They will shoot for win number 20 tomorrow hosting Mt. Notre Dame at 5. A nice win at a time of the season you want to play well.
  17. Worst mangement I have ever seen even worse that Dusty
  18. Their worst draft ever Number 1 pick who had a serious acl injury in the bowl game, one dude has questionable character, two tight ends and a bowling ball 5-8 receiver. Just bolsters an 8-8 team. Steelers get a Bengal basher in Dupree and Browns do well.
  19. That's the whole reason we went was to see Mr. Parker but it was broadcast
  20. It was May 2010 that Bishop Brossart had last defeated the Bracken County Lady Bears in the city of Brooksville, Ky. That day Alicia Miller, Lindsay Griffith and Company avenged a devastating 5-4 11 inning loss in the All A Finals at NKU by beating Bracken Co. 6-3. Today it was all Lady 'Stangs as they defrosted the Lady Bears 11-0 in five innings and 13-3 in the junior varsity game. Amanda Graus got the party started with an infield hit in the first and then raced home on a deep shot to the fence by rbi machine Amanda Lloyd to make it 1-0. In the second, Megan Seiter opened with a sharp single to left and stole second. However the next two batters were retired. With two outs, Riley Orth beat out a hit to plate Seiter. Following a walk to Ashley Childress, Amanda Graus tripled to drive in two. Lloyd then drove in Graus with another fence buster and suddenly it was 5-0. In the fourth Riley Orth reached on an error to second and stole second. Lloyd then singled to plate Orth with her third rbi of the night. The fifth inning gave the 'Stangs five runs and the 11 runs needed to win by the Mercy rule. Kaitlyn Seiter opened the fifth with a double and then following a wild pitch scored from third on a Megan Seiter single. Karlie Shackelford shot a hard double to center to send home Seiter and make it 7-0. Macy Griffin beat out an infield single and Childress walked. The final four runs came by way of errors and wild pitches. Karlie Shackelford came within one out of a complete game before walking two batters in the fifth. Megan Seiter came in and enduced a gounder back to the mound to end the game. Bishop Brossart is now 18-11 on the season and will travel to Paris for a big game with Bourbon Co. on Monday at 5:30. Amanda Lloyd had three hits and 3 rbis to pace BBHS. Amanda Graus, Kaitlyn Seiter, Megan Seiter, and Riley Orth all finished with two hits as Brossart outhit the Polar Bears 13-3. In the junior varsity game Megan Seiter and Emily Schoulties combined to pitch the 13-3 win. Lexi Twehues drilled a triple off the very top of the left field fence to drive home the first run while Bree Wyatt's triple in the fourth sparked a six run outburst. Elizabeth Martin and Katie Reis each had two hits for the team.
