Tight game. Hopefully we'll get a report from someone so we can find out how this played out.

Mustangs struggled with free throw shooting down the stretch, missing (I believe) 5 straight at one point in the final 35-40 seconds. Alex Trentman, who had missed 2 of those 5, able to connect on 2 to seal it with 9 seconds left.

Unofficially for Brossart:

Saunders- 18 points

Trentman- 10 points & 11 boards

Burns- 10 points & 6 boards

Whoo Hoo!!!!! Way to Stangs!

Oh, that's it exactly.

I read someplace -- the Courier-Journal I think -- that Brossart had a distinct size advantage. I know Collegiate doesn't have much height on their squad this year.

With the score 52-49 there was a technical called on Collegiate, but I don't know why. Brossart missed those two FT attempts & then was fouled on the inbounds pass. Missed those two FT attempts as well. I just caught the tail end of the broadcast.

As was last year's opening round game which Collegiate won in OT 57-52. Revenge say the Mustangs...maybe?

No doubt about it. If Randy's unofficial stats listed the top two performers for Collegiate and Steggeman wasn't among them, then it's not shocking that Collegiate couldn't take this one.

9 points on 3-11 shooting. 1-5 from 3pt. land.

That's a guy who averages over 20 per game. Seems like they must have keyed in on him pretty effectively on defense.

Burns & Trentman are a pretty formidable duo.
