  1. Why will playing Covington Catholic at home be so tough for the Birds? They've won 6 out of their 7 games there going back to 1998. They've actually lossed twice at home to Covington Catholic in the same time period. So Covington Catholic actually has a better chance of winning at DCM.
  2. What's the story with the Elder student body pushing on the arriving team's bus if they are undefeated coming into Elder. I was told it was a sign of respect thing. Oh, I'm sure the bus is stopped at the time. I was actually told this by an Elder grad. after he had consumed a couple of adult beverages.
  3. I agree Boone has to win this one.
  4. Posting from an unknown bunker on Rt. 8 near River Rd, but “theguru” brought up an interesting point about freedom of speech. The bottom line is that a school has a significant amount of power to control the content of speech at school related activities. No student section has a right to cheer what they want to cheer. I know the principal at Highlands has wisely vetoed certain types of dress at football games for students that in any other forum would be totally permissible. Personally the only rowdy student section I routinely see is in Park Hills. They take it and dish it out pretty evenly.
  5. Covington Catholic has had or will play 4 tough games in a row. I think they will win Saturday. If they don't win Holmes will be lurking, which I would not have imagined prior to this week.
  6. Ive been around when players have read stuff on here. Most of the time they're crying from laughter.
  7. Wow I wish I could retract most of my post, but really would like to have this one back. I do agree with Qryche11in that folks start to take themselves way to serious at times. OTR:D
  8. Sweeperboy knows people who know people. I've just been asked to stripe the field at "Death Valley." Not fallin for it though.
  9. If my body is found in death valley "theguru" will held directly responsible for my demise. I should have been more clear about ordering rings. :idunno: Webster's New World College Dictionary, 4th Ed. definition of rings. noun 1.the sound of a bell 2. a.any similar sound: the ring of laughter b.any loud sound, esp. when repeated, continued, or reverberated 3.the characteristic sound or impression (of some feeling): the ring of sincerity 4.a set of bells 5.the act of ringing a bell, etc. 6.a telephone call: chiefly in , to telephone someone noun 1.a small, circular band of metal, etc., esp. of precious metal, often set with gems, for wearing on the finger as an ornament or a symbol of betrothal, marriage, etc. 2.any similar band, as of metal, plastic, etc., used for some special purpose: a key ring, a napkin ring 3.a circular line, mark, or figure 4.the outer edge or border of something circular; rim, as of a wheel 5.a circular cut made, or a circle of bark cut from, around the trunk or a branch of a tree 6.annual ring 7.any of the turns in a helix or spiral 8.a circular course, as in dancing 9.a number of people or things grouped in a circle 10.☆ a group of people working together to advance their own interests, esp. by questionable or illegal manipulation and control, as in business, politics, etc. 11.an enclosed area, often circular, for contests, exhibitions, etc.: a circus ring 12. a.an enclosure, now usually a square, canvas-covered area set off by stakes and ropes, in which boxing and wrestling matches are held b.the sport or profession of boxing; prizefighting: with the c.Gym. two wooden rings suspended from a ceiling, used for acrobatic feats and routines: usually with the d.Gym. a competitive event in which the rings are used: usually with the 13.a contest or competition, esp. a political one, as in throw one's hat into the ring 14.Astron. a flat, thin, reflective band of orbiting particles, probably ice crystals and dust, encircling a planet, as Saturn or Uranus, along its equatorial plane at altitudes below the Roche limit 15.Chem. closed chain 16.Geom. the space between two concentric circles 17.Math. a set of elements that has two operations, addition and multiplication, and the properties of being a commutative group under addition, of being closed and associative under multiplication and addition, and in which multiplication is distributive over addition.
  10. Highlands is in rarified air at this point in the season. The line did a tremendous job. Luke Turner is making catch after catch and no one in Northern KY or anywhere else in the state can guard Austin Sheehan. I know the John McCanns and Lindsey Grahams of BGP are going to be upset, but go ahead an order the rings!
  11. Congrats to Bowling Green.
  12. He's a very tough young man. If it's the case he will come back like no other I assure you.
  13. The offensive line last night was the catalysis last night. They gave Towles time to throw. The Green kid is going to a good one. Carter New probably played himself into a scholarship offer last night. UC was very impressed with him. Sheehan is catching balls in traffic, which spells big time trouble for the defense. Nice shoes by the way. David Christian's catch was the best play of the game and maybe for the year!
  14. I agree and disagree with what you're saying Wingman96. 1. "If Pike has some time to throw he can rack up some yards." I would agree with this about Pike and about most other QB's. 2. "Cohorn is the hardest reciever in Nky. to cover one on one." Totally disagree with this. What I will say about Goose is that he does something that a lot of receivers in Northern KY don't do and that is catch balls that should be caught. Believe me that's a compliment to him. I'm very impressed with him! 3. "I'm assuming Hatton will be playing in this game also." Non issue IMO. 4. "For Dixie to be in this game in the second half, their line and defense must step it up." Agree 5. "Bruns and Cohorn seem to be in really good shape, they don't seem to get worn down in the second half." Agree 6. "Now, Pike at safety? Not a good idea." Disagree. He should be playing safety. I'm kidding, I agree. 7. "Dixie should have him up bull rushing up the middle or at one of the end positions. Way too physical of a player to not have in the game on defense." Disagree. He runs up the middle Highlands just runs right by him. Like I said earlier it should be a fun one to watch!
  15. Certainly not a team Dixie wants to deal with after giving up 987 yards of offense in the first two games of the season. They're on tv this week with something to prove. Should be a fun one to watch.
  16. 6A quality football appears to be really lacking in Northern Ky this year.
  17. Last year Zeke had his way with Covington Catholic running the ball. If Covington Catholic's (D)hasn't improved tremendously from last year this game could be fairly close.
  18. I'm sure Covington Catholic's dominating performance over Campbell County will be the topic of conversation at Highlands today.:ohbrother:
  19. If I can dig up some old body armor I may make it. :thumb:
  20. What time are tickets going on sale for this game?
