In regards to tonight, However, your logic is reversed by the fact that it was a sloppy field, Conner ran the ball 75% of the time (when I think their season average has been 60% in the air), and Conner came out flat as well. They just wanted to get this game over with as they are now on the bye week.....and Conner did not dress Pugh #22, the kicker (who has a very strong leg), and I saw one starter spend most of the first half throwing up due to the flu. This was a get it done and go home game for Conner. Your description of Cooper players mental state prior to the game is the opposite of what I expected,they should have come out ready to pull an upset...Conner just wanted to win and go home. So, to answer your question, I am neither playing dumb nor ignorant.........just honest. Not getting your butt kicked is never a win.....a loss is a loss. Football does not lend itself to emotional wins.

I think that Conner will make some great defensive plays. Some say that they cant handle the Ryle run game, but they shut down Boone 2 weeks ago.

Does anyone have a firm definitive complete explanation as to how the freshman playoffs will be set up? I have seen three different versions on BGP that i recall. THANKS

Queen - no choice last night.inuries changed the game plan back to the spread due to FB injury. I do agree that this group needs to play better if they expect to play at next level....think back to three years ago when Trosper shelved his seniors and started a large group of sophmores....who are now 5-1 as seniors. That could happen to this group in 2-3 years- they currently seem to have the same makeup I recall seeing in last years Conner seniors. A parent at the game last night said it best "this is the largest group of self-centered players and parents I have ever seen". Time to buidl some teamwork, desire, and strength - physically and mentally.

Boone has a pretty good Pee Wee suystem thru 8th grade, but many of us would LOVE to see a junior high system and give up Pee Wee in Boone County...........but then again, Pee Wee allows many more kids to play and develop, while middle school may limit the number of kids who get a chance....

Anyone carrying the game on the radio? I have Direct TV not Insight.... or online?

Dixie is Conner's only win - it has been a long season. Conner down 27-20 with 3 minutes left in the game and fumbled at the Campbell one yard line - Campbell recovered and ran the clock out. Conner does seem to have a lot of injured kids on the sidelines - four defensive starters did not play yesterday due to injuries, but that is not to be used as an excuse. Conner could not tackle yesterday....basic football techniques were missing. This group of men will need to work very hard this offseason if they want to succeed at the next level.

14-6 at the half, but Highlands, even missing several freshman due to flu bug, just wore down Conner. Conner left with several players banged up ,limping and dizzy, and they play next game Wed , so quicker turnaround. Highlands is just physically tough! Impressed with #14 Christian from Highlands at WR and DE - big boy who runs routes well and dominates the stop of the sweep and option on D. Conner lone TD on another long run from Foegle, who is the only true RB Conner has who can score. Conner frosh seem to have abandoned the spread offense - possibly due to injuries? Last two games they have not thrown nearly as much as they did in games 1-2. #10 for Conner (Lowery) had a decent game on D until he was injured early in 4th Q - in 3Q, his name was called seven straight plays for the tackle. QB for Highlands did a great job of leading his team (and they did not have Collinsworth on the field)...... I rambled a littile, but my review of the game........

So does anyone know for sure why the discerepency in date of this game? See above post.... Newspaper this morning also shows this as a Thursday night game - but CHS website shows this as Friday game and homecoming. Also, freshman schedule ( not that it matters) shows fosh play thursday night at 6:00 at Highlands.... Is this scheduled to be a "Thursday game of the week" and no one knows about it? When exactly is this game?????? No matter when the game , I am really concerned about Cougar inability to wrap and tackle - this will hurt them vs Boone. Defense needs some work to get a winner vs a tough Boone running game. Will Helmig dare Boone to throw by putting eight in the box and stuffing the run with keying on the running backs? And I really do want to know when this game is so I show up on the right day

I think that Conner High School QB Nick West should be one of the candidates for Mr. Football. Yes, he might run the ball alot, but most Quarterbacks in NKY look up to him as an inspiration. He is over all one of the best 6-A QB's in Kentucky.

I think that Conner did not come ready to play the game. They had alot of mistakes on both sides of the ball tonight. I thought that tonights game would have had a much higher score for the Cougars.

WOW - a lot of words for a freshman game! I too was at this game yesterday - yes, Queen is offering some opinions, but anyone who is on here does the same thing. It is for development, but it is also about the wins - these freshman came from PeeWee where you win at all costs...to tell them it just doesn't matter as freshman is not realistic. QB is a true 8th grader and MIGHT develop into a Nick West look alike - right now, he is a West-want-to-be with a chance to grow. It will be interesting to see if he moves to JV next year as a freshman or stays at frosh ball. I do not agree that Barker is best on the field on D - in fact, there were a few missed tackles where he stayed on the ground instead of getting back up and trying to get back intot eh play. It might be too much for this 8th grader to go both ways all plays. Kuhnkle by far at MLB can dominate when he chooses to. (By the way, he follows in his Dads footsteps on the football field). Bottom line is that Conner frosh has no line on O or D that is effective - and that is a very VISIBLE point each game. Runs of more than 5 yards are only due to skill of QB and RB's. By the way, Queen's analysis and reporting is 50% factual and 50% fiction - you can figure out which is which (and that is just my opinion!!!!)

Boone freshman play Conner at Boone Thursday evening 9/10/09 at 6:00pm

Conner frosh beat Dixie 36-22 Monday nite. No working scoreboard at Conner - what was up with that? It was obvious Dixie struggled with some time management issues without the visible clock. Not an excuse, but a shame it was not working. Hope it works for the Varsity game Friday nite (although many believe it will be a running clock by halftime) against Lloyd.
