I see Nicholas County winning this one in their own house, and making their first trip to the Regional Tournament since 2000, when they went 22-8.

Pendleton threw a lot of junk defenses at them, and knew every one of their sets they called out. They were very well-prepared.

Including this year, he's 10-5. He's 3-0 in district championships. 2007- lost in first round of districts to Harrison County 2008- won districts, lost in first round of Regionals to Montgomery County 2009- lost in first round to Harrison County 2010- won districts, lost in Regional Semifinals to Mason County 2011- won districts, lost in Regional Finals to Clark County.

Neither teams exactly flew up and down the court. They were careful in their shot selection, and both teams' defenses were outstanding.

Jared Rering had a very nice game for Pendleton. Coach Simms and his staff had the Breds scouted well. If you would have told me before the game that Mason Monroe would only have 4 points, I certainly wouldn't have expected this outcome. Congratulations to the Cats.

Paris played Montgomery County close early in the season. They won't this game. Indians by 18.

I do think they'll have a significant amount of fans regardless. When Pendleton played at Harrison in January, there were more Pendleton fans there than Harrison. Not a lot to get excited about in Falmouth, but they love their basketball.

I hate that the game isn't at Harrison County, for the sole reason that it will take away from Pendleton's number of fans. Nicholas County is a solid hour plus drive from Falmouth. Nicholas County's new gym is beautiful, but I like districts in Cynthiana.

Should be a good one. Essentially the district championship game. I like Pendleton by 5. I've learned better than to pick against Coach Simms in the postseason.

This game was nuts. Pendleton dominated for 28 minutes. It looked like they were going to beat Holmes by 25. They were up 19 in the third quarter, and 15 with 5 minutes to go in the game. Number 3 for Holmes hit 4 threes in the last four minutes, and Dontel Rice sealed the game at the line. I'm still in shock of how Pendleton blew this game. I blinked, and the tide had turned. I loved what I saw for three and a half quarters out of Pendleton. They kept Rice quiet, Monroe distributed the ball nicely, and I loved the way the guards rebounded. Holmes shot an incredible number of three's, making only three until the final four minutes, in which they couldn't miss. Tonight was Pendleton's senior night. He tore his ACL over the summer. He just returned in mid-January. I doubt he's at 100 percent yet.

Surprised no one has posted this score yet. Lafayette is now 12-16, but has beaten Lexington Catholic and now Henry Clay. The 13-game winning streak for Henry Clay comes to an end in surprising fashion.

Lafayette is 12-16. Henry Clay had won 13 games in a row until last night, including beating Scott County and Madison Central by 15. They'll probably drop out of the top 10 now though.

My predictions: Campbell County over Scott in the 37th. Pendleton County over Nicholas County in the 38th Mason County over Augusta in the 39th GRC over Montgomery County in the 40th I only see two first-round games that should be very close. Pendleton-Harrison and Campbell-Brossart should be very good ones.
