  1. What is going on in Cynthiana? They're losing games they never lose.
  2. I wasn't entirely sure where to put this, but I figured since most people on BGP would know these kids from high school, that this would be the best place. Thought this might be interesting, since this is an NKY-dominant site. Thomas More started the season ranked 13th in the country, their highest ranking in school history. They currently stand at 11-5. So. 3B Travis Miller (St. Henry)- 14 games, .417, 4 doubles, 7 RBI Jr. DH Ryan Darner (CovCath)- 16 games, .410, 3 doubles, 2 HR, 22 RBI Jr. CF Brandon Nutini (CovCath)- 11 games, .282, 1 double, 1 HR, 8 RBI (Out for the next 3-5 weeks with a broken hand) Fr. C Brad Popham (Dixie Heights)- 7 games, .188, 3 RBI Fr. C Alex Valentine (Pendleton County) is 1-1 on the year. Jr. David Etscheid (Ryle)- 8 app, 1 start, 18 IP, 1.50 ERA, 24 K's So. Andy Roenker (Holy Cross) 4 app, 1 start, 15 IP, 0.60 ERA, 9 K's So. Brenon Russell (Conner)- 2 app, 2 IP, 4.50 ERA Jr. Ryan Chamberlain (Dixie Heights)- 4 app, 3.1 IP, 5.40 ERA, 3 K's So. Jake Samad (Conner) hasn't pitched yet. He is recovering from arm surgery last month.
  3. Senior Brent Jacob went the distance on the mound for Pendleton, striking out 13. He also went 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBI's. Evan Spicer went 2-4 with an RBI as well.
  4. Freshman lefty Josh Brown started for Pendleton. He gave up 7 hits, 4 ER, and struck out 4 in 4 1/3 IP. Anyone know who started for Harrison County?
  5. Franklin County's catcher, Zach Arnold, is signed to play at UK next year.
  6. KHSAA lists Thomas Posey as their head coach.
  7. What year is Nutter? That's a name I haven't heard.
  8. The 10th Region wasn't supposed to be very good this season either. Maybe it wasn't very good as a whole, but one team distanced itself from the pack and represented the 10th well at Rupp. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen next year too. Only once in the past five years has the 10th Region representative not won at least one game at Rupp.
  9. Final from Villa Hills. Pendleton scored 2 runs in the 7th, and had two runners on the base before lightning was spotted and cancelled the game. So it was officially 3-0 in 6 inning. Senior Dustin Wanner went 2-4 at the plate with an RBI for Pendleton, and fellow senior Brent Jacob went the distance on the mound for a shutout, striking out 5 while only giving up 2 hits.
  10. Mason Monroe? Bach is good, but that title belongs to Monroe.
  11. I was debating whether to put them or Harrison County at 5. I know they lose Jennings, but return Alex Trentman, Justin Saunders and their point guard (Uebel?). I don't know too much about them beyond that.
  12. My Top 5, 7 months before the season starts would be: 1. Montgomery County- Would think they'd be the preseason favorite again. Return three starters (Omar Prewitt, Darius Jones, Austin Crisp) from a 23-11 campaign, including the best player in the region IMO in Prewitt. Crisp and Jones will only be Juniors. 2. Scott- Only loses one senior from this year. Senior Nick Jackson won't surprise anyone this year. 3. Pendleton County- Returns three starters (Mason Monroe, Garrett Appleman, Ethan Moore) and their first two off the bench. 4. Campbell County- Returns two All-Region performers in Nate McGovney and Corey Holbrook. 5. Harrison County- Only lose 2 contributing seniors from a 17-12 campaign, but one was All-Region performer Caleb Ford. I should know by now to not exclude Clark County and Mason County, from my top 5, but looks like I did again..
  13. Part of the new Superintendent's plan to have all athletic events on campus. They played their home games on the field behind the high school for years until renovations to the high school in 2006 made that field impossible to get to. So they played at Southern Elementry's field for 5 years, and have now moved back to their old home field. Many of the renovations made to Southern Elementary's field were with the intent to make that their permanent home field though. I'm surprised they moved as well.
  14. The bottom line is, they all have three years remaining in eligibility. I don't really care how old they are. I care more about keeping them all in Kentucky. Because if they do, the future of Kentucky high school basketball looks bright.
  15. Knott County Central is going to be scary good in 2014 and 2015.
  16. Just because everyone believes Trinity will win doesn't mean anyone said anything remotely close to that. I hate when that card is played. This is an opinion site, and people are simply posting their opinion. Trinity has earned the right to be the favorite in the state tournament. But anything can happen, and Clark County is playing very well. Everyone on here knows that.
  17. Knott County Central looked impressive today. I like them by 8.
  18. Taylor Howard is one of the most underrated player in the state.
  19. Winner of this game takes the title IMO. Trinity can beat you in so many ways. I just don't see them losing.
  20. I would say it comes down to Mcqueary and Hunter Hill of Harrison County. My pre-season pick would be Mcqueary.
  21. Defending 10th Region champ Clark County returns one of the better hitters, if not the best hitter in the 10th in Logan Mcqueary, speedy Center Fielder Pokey Harris, and pitcher/Outfielder Taylor Howard. They lost their ace pitcher from last year, Anthony Withrow, but Clark County will be Harrison County's closet competition IMO.
