  1. Wonder how crowded or how early one my need to get there? Should be a good one since Trinity and Ballard just went to OT last last week in the LIT.
  2. Cooper vs. Conner JV Tournament game is cancelled as well.
  3. Make no doubt. Holmes won this game and they were the better team last nite. However this was a winnable game for Cooper. True Bolden went out in the first half in foul trouble but like the 2nd half he was being defensed fairly well primarily by Morgan who in my opinion defends him better than anyone in NKY, just MO. Beetle is a great player and cannot be fully stopped. So while he was out a great portion of the first half no one in the gym would have thought McNeil would have went scoreless in the last 3qtrs of the game either. Not taking anything away from the Bulldogs win but when I see posts indicating if FTs were made it would have been a blowout I scratch my head because while Cooper does not have the offensive prowess like most of the teams they play they do cause problems with their defense. And let's not forget the younger McNeil is still out with a foot injury and while the outcome may have been the same he will pose some serious problems upon his return which the Jags hope to be real soon. Again, congrats to the dawgs as they are one of the top 2 in this region.
  4. Like last year's Cooper team, they won't blow the lights out on the score board but they do know how to grind games out defensively. The last two times these teams have met it's went down to the wire including last year's regional semi-final and that's what I'm hoping for again. This will be only the 2nd time the Jags have played at home all season since the home opener back on Dec. 4. Weather providing it should be a good turn out and hopefully a good game, best of luck to both teams.
  5. I agree it wasn't the best performance by either team offensively but I'm sure Coach Sully is live with the way his team played defense in the second half. This team will have to win games on the defensive end which is what the Jags have done the past two seasons. Hope they keep progressing and if they have to win ugly so be it.
  6. The mass substitution has nothing to do with mistakes. It has to do with effort which cannot be coached. Sully can live with the occaisional mistake but when a group has lack of effort and energy you send a messages and in this case it was delivered and received.
  7. EXACTLY. Pulling the starters was exactly what that group needed! For someone who's not around the program it's easy to second guess the coach. They were pulled because this group has not executed consistently all year so why should the coach keep repeating himself all year? Kudos the the unit that stepped in and held their own in the 2nd qtr. and in fact won the qtr. This group does not have a leader and until someone steps up and takes the bull by the horns coach Sully should do what he thinks is best for the program. It obviously worked since they won the game.
  8. Having seen both teams play on back to back nights I will take CCH in a close one. NCC has the bigs to easily win this game but judging by last nights game they were not using them very well and if that happens again CCH will win this one. NR and CVH will have far too much overall quickness although Pangallo will more than hold his own. However, if NCC pounds it inside CCH will NOT have an answer whatsoever. Just my opinion.
  9. One word...Exposed. This was a total team effort by CCH and was the definiition of TEAM. By exposed I am refering to CCH figuring out you cannot stop Bolden so you contain him with TEAM defense. They packed it in and made it virtually impossible for Beetle to penetrate and do work. While CVH did rip Bolden twice it was his teammates that provided great help in "containing" him. Pretty darn good strategy which everyone else needs to take notice. Contain Beetle and concede he will get his 25 and make somebody else on this team try and beat you. Point #2, HHS failure to take advantage of some serious foul trouble by the CCH bigs by getting the ball inside was major problem IMO. Chames ruled the boards and CCH had no answer inside for him but HHS couldn't get him the ball. Point #3 the dawgs offense was painful to watch. WAAAAAY too much standing around watching Beetle dribble the ball!! There wasn't much set offense being ran and converserely CCH looked like the movie Hoosiers playing team ball and running "sets". In the big scheme of things this is just one win in the possible 3 times these two teams may meet so HHS has plenty of time to fix some of the above and make a serious run again. You can call me crazy but Bolden is the best scorer in NKY and possibly the entire State bar none, he cannot be stopped as he WILL get "his" BUT Nick R. is by far the best PG in the truest and purest since of the position. Totally runs CCH and it is going to be difficult to stop him from doing as such, again just one man's opinion. The one-handed lay-up was truly old-skool (if you were at the game you know which one I'm talking about). This was my first time seeing CCH play this year and everyone better look out because this team might just win this region and after what I witnessed last nite this poster will NOT be surprised one bit. I may have a different opiniion tomorrow after watching NCC play tonite but as of this morning I won't be shocked to see any of the Big 3 make it to Rupp.
  10. Cooper played pretty good defense down the stretch so that had something to do with HC's empty trips. Ritchie was in fact ineffective due to foul trouble but mainly because Cooper played much better defense on him, primarily Morgan, as opposed the Mason Co. tourney. Cooper also guarded HC's 3pt shooters better in the last 2:30 minutes. Coach Sully has his team taking positive steps in my opinion and having alternatives on the bench to sub in is paying off. If you're not performing you can come think about it and get it right. Good road win especially for a team that has had only 1 home game all year and having an injured starter out.
  11. Again, like the previous All-State teams....not surprised by the lack of NKY players.
  12. Congrats to RJ on getting this offer. Does he play any other positions other than receiver because this team does not throw the ball hardly at all and I was just curious? Didn't know if he played running back or DB as well. Regardless, it is great institution and it's getting paid for and it is South Carolina weather which is tough to beat so best of luck at the next level. I believe the Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson graduated from there and it's where the Panthers hold their training camp.
  13. After last years NKY snubs I'm not surprised one bit. Congrats to all the players named but more importantly good luck at the next level for those that are seniors.
  14. The reality is of Cooper is yes, they are not very big. Hathorn is the only big man with any experience and Hawkins is new to the program and still developing since he didn't play last year. The team only returns 2 starters in Morgan and Z. McNeil so it's virtually a rebuild in the starting line up. When you start 6'5" Hathorn and 4 guards 6'1" or less this team is going to struggle a little so yes Maniacci and Shelton are missed. No excuses just facts. As for the game, hats off to HC but no way was this a 12 point game. HC didn't take the lead until mid 4th qtr and made a ton of FTs when they needed to as Cooper was fouling trying stop the clock and didn't score when they had possession. It was a 5 point game with 2:30 to go. Coach Sully will get it worked out as he figures out his personel but I would like to believe this team will be in the hunt come late February.
  15. It may be just me but this has to be one of the fastest Holmes teams in a very long time. The overall team speed is sick. They are not blessed with alot of bulk but the they clearly make up for it with speed and athletism. Kel's defense has not changed since he was in the 2nd grade, relentless and in your face for 4 quarters.
  16. Not really trying to split hairs or dispute your information but according to MaxPreps which most schools submit information to, I do not see Jack Sutkamp listed but it appears NCC does not submit stats to MaxPreps. Congrats to the young man for his accomplishments. Kentucky Football Tackles Leaders - MaxPreps.
  17. If that is your best argument how do you explain Bricking making 1st team at LB? Obviously he was doing his job. Second you obviously know nothing about the defense Cooper runs as the safety plays an intrical part of the run defense. I'm not begrudging ANY player that made any team as all are good players. I could point out some obvious issues and dispute some selections but I don't and never will take anything from any player that is selected on BGP. My point is his stats speak for themselves he would have been on one of the teams if I were selecting which I'm not. You can take all that talk about somebody not getting their job done somewhere else.
  18. Somebody didn't do their homework big time in defense. There is no way Cooper Safety Kyle Henderson does not make either of these teams on defense. All he did was have 130 tackles, finished 5th in the State in tackles, and led the State with 13 tackles per game. Not taking anything away from the guys on this list but some players made both O/D teams that should/could have been replaced with Henderson. Just my opinion but the stats clearly speak for themselves in this case.
  19. I will help out here Walter lol. I think that Cooper is far too deep for Conner. Not having DB this year is going to leave big hole for them to fill and I don't think Hemmerich can carry the entire load for them although he is very talented. Cooper by know means is a giant team but one thing that will carry them pretty far is the ability to be solid on defense and being able to go 11 deep with minimal drop off from the starters. Just my 2 cents.
  20. I wouldn't say it's low I'd say it's right on par as in other years. Unfortunately and for whatever reason, NKY is notoriously jumped over when it comes to recruitment of it's football players. Been that way for quite some time even though there is some obvious talent in the area IMO. However, the next 35-40 days will be telling. Miami has a new coach, UC needs some receivers that can catch and db's that can cover so hopefully there will be some late offers. Regardless, congrats to Ben who will join Lex Sowards, should he commit, at ISU.
  21. Understanding this was the first game and understanding it was Walton who put up a very very good effort in the 1st half, the key thing to take away from this game is this. Cooper went a SOLID 11 players deep so it's depth will be the strength of this team. At one stretch in the second half they had only 2 starters in the game with one of them being the freshman McNeil. The only issue will be if their bigs get into foul trouble like they did last nite and frankly did not play anywhere near their full potential due do being on the bench. Not sure how they will do the rest of the season but two things are for sure. This will be another solid defensive team (only gave up 15 points in the 2nd half) and if a player is not getting it done to Coach Sully's standard he will get replaced with no or very little drop off.
  22. WOW, not lose a game in the 9th? And this is your synopsis after (1) game against a team that has (1) serious threat?.....OK
