  1. Congrats and he's one heck of a kicker! He'll be joining a couple of really good Northern KY players in Walton Verona's Lattimore and Cooper's Morgan. UCumberlands is a sleeping giant and appears to in the consistent hunt for Mid-South Conference titles as well as National titles.
  2. This could potentially happen in EVERY game for Boone Co. teams as no bus service is provided for any games except regionals. Kids need to get there on their own unfortunately.
  3. Judging by what I saw in the CCH/Cooper game, BHatt poses a huge problem for CCH because of his strength and flat out ability to score when he is determined. That being said I don't know that Dixie has a solid answer for guarding Nick R. either. May be some double teams from both teams. I'm sure BHatt saw just what he needed to see in the CCH/Cooper game though since he was in attendance. Should be a good one.
  4. First congrats to CCH for finding a way to win. I won't get into "if" baskets were made or "if" fouls were called but what I will say is this, Cooper has now held NCC, Holmes, and CCH to their lowest point totals of year which makes it clear that they can "play" with ANYONE in the 9th. At issue for the Jags has been offense. For Hathorn only to have 7 points and the younger McNeil only to have 1 point and STILL have the opportunity to win at the end says something, again, about Coach Sully's coaching ability and what he has done in the 6 short years the school has been in existence is incredible. One thing I know for certain, if the Jags get hot offensively heading into March and they continue to play solid defense, which 9 times out of 10 is a given, I really don't think ANY team will want to play them or at least think they will not be in for an absolute dog fight. The "Orange" has a funny way of bouncing sometimes and all I will say moving forward is; on any given nite...........I'll let you finish the sentence. (Anyone recall the '10 Newport team?)
  5. Totally agree Cooper should be pretty deep next season with some young talent to go along with seniors to be Hathorn, Hawkins, Leichty, and sophomores Hendrix and Sean McNeil makes for a pretty good starting lineup. Hopefully the Jags can finish this season with a good run in the district and the tough 9th region.
  6. Morgan played. As everyone knows he's not a shooter and Coach Sully made a lineup change last week to add another shooter for scoring. Morgan is still the best 1on1 defender on the team so Sully is using him where his strength can pay off and gets another scorer on the floor for the majority of the game. It's worked 2 games in a row and hopefully it continues. Good job by the senior knowing and accepting his role as a team player after starting at the PG spot for 71 games.
  7. We shall see. A lot will depend on the draw and sometimes that orange can bounce strangely. If the Jags have the offense they showed in the last game vs. Ryle and can keep Hathorn on the floor they have a chance because of their defense (only giving up 49pts/game) and while losing both games they have held both Holmes and NCC to their lowest point totals of the year. They aren't deep but could make things interesting. Ryle, while difficult to figure them out, has all the pcs. with the exception of a true pg so I would not count them out either. March will be here soon.
  8. Congrats to Josh on his selection. Having the pleasure of knowing this young man since the 2nd grade I can tell you TMC got a steal in my opinion. The young man is motivated like know other and I'm sure mom and dad are very proud!! Go get'em Josh!!
  9. While your math is accurate I would look at this a different way. If you look at this from the assumption of how many player are Srs. that are eligible to go play football at the next level it gives a little different perspective. So if on avg. each of those teams had 30% seniors it would be as follows: 223 football playing schools 50 avg. players per football playing school with 30% being seniors = 15 3,345 total seniors football players in the State of Kentucky 118 football players playing college football 223 x 15 = 3,345 118/3,345 = 3.5% Not a huge difference but it is positive that many of these players are getting to realize a dream of playing football at the next level. There will be more signings coming in over the next few weeks so that is positive as well. Good luck to all of these players no matter what level it is. Bottom line is you are moving on to play and everyone's level is just as important as the other.
  10. First never said being a baseball would not help the young man. 2nd if you don't think footwork has something to do with throwing the football your sadly mistaken. My point is while baseball will help with accuracy, which I did state in my post, if that is the ONLY thing the young man is going to do to improve he won't meet his full development potential. And as for your comment about pass rushing in the off season, absolutely it can be simulated. You've let me know just how much you know about the position if playing baseball is the only thing he needs to do to improve at playing QB.
  11. Not sure how that will help the kid improve his QB skills. 70% of qb play is with his feet and while pitching will help with accuracy they are totally different throws. Pitching is nothing compared to throwing on the run and avoiding pressure keeping his eyes down the field and finding an open receiver. If being a pitcher is the only thing he's gonna do to become a better qb he'll be holding his helmet on Friday nites or Saturday mornings.

  13. According to his twitter account Kameron Crim visited EKU on Saturday and was offered and accepted. Congrats!! He is extremely athletic for a big man of his size.
  14. This number is probably less than 20%. There are at least 20 questions that the athlete had better be asking before accepting a PWO. As for playing time to make that impact he better show out in practice and find a way to get on the field, special teams, special pkgs, etc. If not he will get caught up in the mix and not get noticed. There are some success stories of course but PWO's have to have the right situation.
  15. He's back and played well. Having him and keeping Hathorn on the floor out of foul trouble will make not only this district but the region a little interesting. Best game of the year for this team.
  16. Clyde hit the nail on the head!! PWO's being able to attend the 1st day of practice with the scholarhip athletes is huge vs. having to, in most cases, waiting another 3-4 weeks when the general student population starts school before you can ever see a practice. In D-1, being part of the 105 players that a team can field on a roster is a tremendous advantage.
  17. Having coached this young man he is going to do very well and Gtown got a steal IMO. Congrats JB!!
  18. Congrats to Chris. Great young man with the tools to be a prototype WR and maybe even play on Sundays.
  19. Congrats Logan! Known the young man since 5th grade and he's fine young man from a great family! Good luck!
  20. 100% agree the NUC camps serve little purpose BUT I have found a small benefit. It is true there are 0 college coaches there so nobody is getting scholarships from these. First if you have a young player who has never been to a college camp, NUC can serve as a tune up for college summer camps and calm some nerves and give some prep before hitting the summer camps. The 2nd benefit is top MVPs from the NUC camps can earn a free NCSA Scouting program which can be worth ~$1500+ not to mention the wealth of CORRECT advice, information and access to every coach at every level through the recruiting process which really you can place no value on. The NUC camps are very inexpensive with there discounts ~$30. I do not recommend participating in their 5-star, top 100, or top elite camp in Oklahoma. These are simply money makers. Save those funds for summer camps at colleges. I speak from personal experience not hearsay.
  21. Good win for Conner but missing in all the posts is the fact that Colin Hathorn picked up a technical foul (which was his 2nd total foul) for apparently hanging on the rim on an attempted put-back dunk off of a fast break midway in the 1st qtr which was an absolute joke as there were no less than 3 players underneath him so he sits the remainder of the half. Then 8 secs into the 3rd he picks up his 3rd foul for barely touching a player off of a trap has to sit the majority of the 3rd. May or may not have changed the outcome but certainly Cooper could have used his inside presence. Again, not an excuse but Cooper could have used him big time inside as the Jags fell in love with the 3-pointer which were not hitting the broad side of the barn. Congrats to the Cooper JV team as they continued to roll in the JV tourney.
  22. I don't think the Jags looked rusty at all. They were up by 15-18 points the majority of the game. I believe they held Conner to 8 points at the half.
  23. At a total loss for words. Gonna miss him as well as his big heart tremendously.
