  1. Last year Boone's season depended on how well the quarterback performed with the pass and if he could pose a threat with his speed. The QB position didn't accelerate to the passing or run threat level many had hoped, and I feel the same will be this year as far as an area needing to improve. Bryson Thompson has been named the QB and he will have a tough job on his hands and a load of pressure from teammates and fans. On the defensive side Boone just needs to get stronger. A majority of the times last year, kids were in position to make tackles, but due to lack of strength and experience they weren't getting the job done. Boone faces a rough road with Henry Clay, Anderson and Highlands all at the beginning part of the season, so they will need a senior to step up and get them through those games and on to the district games. LEADERSHIP will be key winning or losing!
  2. Try covering the cost of neurosurgery! I'm sure any parent would prefer the bat cost. Your ending statement hits the point that I hope they make this decision on!
  3. Haven't heard Robbie Barber's name in a while, when did he start playing with the Bulldogs?
  4. I agree he didn't play much on defense, but to say "He played probaly 5 snaps on defense every game because of his ankle injury." is a stretch, but then again I should consider the source.
  5. They are good, but not perfect and a lot of DI talented kids go unoticed. There's way too many high schools out there to find all of the extremely talented kids.
  6. I think you are very wrong once again. I've got film from last year that shows different.
  7. So, Simpson was not a starter on defense?
  8. That's the most intelligent and respectable post you've made so far! It's almost as if you copied and pasted it from another site! Joking with ya! Glad to see the boys are getting interest!
  9. Does not matter according to your statements. So, according to you, he didn't play DI, so he is not in the "Good Enough" category. I'm just trying to figure out what you're trying to convey in your post, so re-define "Good Enough" in your opinion.
  10. Pikes win loss success will be determined by the talent around him. Just because you can't win all of your games, it doesn't mean you can't be a good leader. A win/loss record doesn't tell the truth about an individuals personal talent, especially at QB. Receivers drop perfect passes, rb's fumble, linemen miss blocking assignments. It happens, and especially in high school football. Put Pikes talent alongside 10 other positional DI talented recruits and I believe he will do just fine. The schools are looking at PIKE, not the other 10 players on Dixie's offense or who won the game. It's time to put away the haterade.
  11. Nice list.......another one is Larry Allen of the Dallas Cowboys who turned out to be one of the best linemen in NFL History......played at Butte College, a JUCO in California. I guess he wasn't good enough at the beginning?
  12. The thing is, the kids that go on playing college football ( DII, DIII, NAIA or JUCO) are doing it for themselves. I bet they could care less whether you watch or not because where they're at is good enough for them. To say tons of players can play NAIA or D2 or D3 is a stretch, because there are tons of high school football players that would like to be on any team, but just don't have the talent for even that next level. DI is great, but it's not always the cream of the crop.
  13. That's what counts! :thumb:
  14. Why do you insist on degrading kids like this. You are the only one on this forum with such ridiculous and offensive comments and it should be stopped!
  15. By the way I am not totally against 7 on 7, just the team competition version that goes on here. :thumb:
  16. That's true, my point is I have seen kids not in full gear going overboard to make a play, and causing injuries during 7 on 7. That's why I was wondering if they go full gear here or what? Didn't Cov Cath or some team have a major injury during 7 on 7 last year, and if so, was it full gear? I know injuries can happen anywhere; I'd just rather it be on game night against the opponent instead of a modified version of flag football.
  17. 7 on 7 is done sometimes in full gear or without, that was one of my questions. Regardless of the rules around here I can be against 7 on 7 if I choose to be. Maybe there are some teams that get nothing out of 7 on 7 against an opponent in full gear, but do so within their own team practices, so how am I wrong? It's an opinion and I guess it takes a brain to have one of those! If you have nothing educational to contribute to this post, please go back to your coloring book. :madman:
  18. Who's knocking him? :idunno:
  19. This is simply a matter of opinion, but you can do 7 on 7 within your own team and gain just as much from it. I don't know of any colleges or professional teams that have 7 on 7 outside their teams, it just seems a little flag footballish to me. As a coach, I don't care what you do to me 7 on 7, I want you 11 on 11. I've coached a few years and played many more and 7 on 7 has always be inner squad to me..........I'm ole school.
  20. Good idea. I watch him run and there's no quit in the kid, he is definitely one of if not the strongest back around here and should get some nice offers in the future.
  21. Just having some fun. I know Ryle has Shields and Volette returning as seniors and I think they have a few others that started last year also. Boone returns Fookes and Brown, as starters from last year along with Freeman, Means and another good sized and strong transfer from Oklahoma I believe. What about Conner? Anyone know who remains there?
  22. For the public schools  , I'm going to say Boone County and Ryle will have two of the strongest groups of linemen.
  23. Running an all out 40 is a bit diffeent than what a running back usually does. It's the stop and go speed that seperates miles from a majority of the NKY backs. As a back, you barely get three yards before you have to adjust your route, there's not many opportunities to run straight up the field for 40 yards.
  24. Pretty much....that's it. Unless they are allowed to go full gear/full contact here, I'm not sure about that. Someone please fill me in on that.
  25. Football is a team sport and none of these skilled positions can perform without a decent Oline. Whose your pick?
