I actually don't know the exact formula. I know the LIT and Cantrell rankings are calculated differently but I am certain that SOS is a part of both ratings systems. I think the main difference in the two is how they factor in margin of victory but I am not 100% sure. I like comparing the two just for arguments sake....but im a numbers person! Ha

Its not his personal opinion....it's a mathematical formula that spits out a rating based on scores in games played....similar to the BCS. Looking at the records and scores of the games this list looks very reasonable Imo

Anderson has played well. Probably a number of factors have played into that. There is still a lot of basketball to be played and the 8th has several solid teams that could beat Anderson on a given night. Other then marion county, it seems like there is a lot of parity around the state.

They went to state semi finals last year and didn't graduate anyone...although they did have a nice draw.

final from Lincoln last night. Mckee and Cann led Anderson with 22 and 18. Fox led Lincoln with 22.

Walton and Anderson are two very good teams...both could make some noise at diddle. And Simon Kenton has a nice young bunch as well. The 8th is strong.

I know the girl from Grant County (Hearn?) committed to Morehead a few months back if I remember correctly. Sandlin has verbaled to Bellarmine...Mckee is receiving some interest but as far as I know has no offers yet....and then Cann has a handful of offers as said above. I would say the Wells girl from Collins is receiving interest, but I have not heard who or how serious.

Cann already has offers from WKU, EKU, and Austin Peay...all 3 division 1 teams (and she's just a junior) with at least a dozen more seriously interested.

I should say, I would call Anderson's performance in the regional tournament last year disappointing and I think anyone from AC would say the same thing. I think there is renewed optimism around that some of the factors that led to a disappointing ending have been eliminated.

Anderson has the best talent from top to bottom in the region...whether they will finally put it all together this year remains to be seen. I dont think Anderson has been a disappointment as much as the 8th has had some really nice teams over the last couple of years. Walton/South/Anderson have all 3 had outstanding teams the past 3 years, and have had some really good battles in the regional tournament that really could have gone either way.

These rankings, I believe, are based on college potential....with that said, Owings size certainly is a big factor. Have to say though, really enjoy watching her play!

yep. My bad, oversight! ND is certainly a top 3 team in the region!!

Depends on how you define tough....1-3 the 8th is probably comparable with the other top regions in the state.. 8th: Anderson, South, Walton 9th: Boone, Ryle, NCC 7th: Manual, Sacred Heart, Louisiville Christian 11th: Lex Cath, Madison Central, Dunbar I would say those 4 regions are VERY comparable 1-3...probably could throw the 5th in there too with Marion, Etown and somebody (not sure who the 3rd best team in that region is). If you define it by overall depth, hard to argue with the 11th as being the deepest from that standpoint....so I think it depends, but the 8th has a 1-3 as good as several of the top regions around the state..

These rankings are not opinons, they are based on a mathematical forumla that has to do with schedule and score of games.

Montgomery has a nice team but the tenth is really weak yet again...

Their wins over Casey County and Lincoln County show that they are capable of beating very good basketball teams....and Casey has one of the best post players in the entire state.

Simon Kenton is good enough to upset anybody in the region come tournament time. Don't be surprised to see them beat one of the "favorites" in the regional tournament.

there is some truth to this, but for the most part the good teams in the summer are still the good teams in the regular season.

Anderson won the whole thing this past summer.... and yes, this is the same group of girls.
