I experienced that as well, with two different AAU teams. No coaches' daughters favoritism in either case. Perhaps it isn't as rare after all.

In looking at the entry list, some teams are not there for every day. That's probably the reason there are some repeat games. Without them some teams would have an "open" slot if they are there every day and it's probably better to play repeats than to not play at all.

A schedule would be appreciated........as would any results! I believe Boone County will be attending.

After a tough search I came across this on another website. There are different Junior teams for each game. The Girls' Kentucky All-Stars will have two(2) scrimmages this year. Her handle is getting better and better as she has the opportunity to have the ball more in the open floor. From mid-season on she helped break the presses BC faced and she plays out on the floor more in AAU BB. I wouldn't see her as a college point either, more from a quickness standpoint than anything else. There are some absolute blurs at point in college! But she could certainly ulilize those skills at the 2 or 3 in college with the ability to take players off the dribble or post up defenders anywhere close to her size when going against a man-to-man. Probably not a coincidence but at times she does do some things that border on "freakish", particularly for a girl. In any case it's all fun for me to watch!

Here is what ESPN Hoopgurlz had to say about Boone County's Sydney Moss in placing her in their 2012 ESPNU Top 100 Watch List: "Evaluation Deep South Classic-April 10: Moss is a very interesting prospect as she combines a unique blend of power forward and point guard skills. She a really strong athlete with very deceptive and deceiving athleticism. It's kind of" freakish" for someone her size. Moves well for her size." I'm not sure I've ever seen a player, boy or girl, evaluated as a blend of power forward and point guard. It's become common to hear of guys with length and handling skills be referred to as "point forwards". These are typically "small forwards", guys who normally play the "3", but I've not seen or heard of players that are generally power players around the basket (as Moss can do) also be labeled as having point guard skills. So what does this make Moss? Maybe a "power guard"?!?! :confused:

Read what I said. I said the board member you talked with could have a "point of view which MAY be biased". Therefore that member "may" be prone to "emphatically" state how 19 other members of a board of which he is a member might rule. I could ask you the same question......did you talk to all members of the board? No, you stated you only talked with one. But you were quick to jump to the fore with his "opinion" on how a appeal......one that never occurred......would have gone. While I haven't talked to anyone on the board I would question why the board, certainly as a group, would discuss a single particular ruling by the Commissioner. Did some discuss it among themselves? That's possible but since you talked to but one member about that then that's an unknown as well. Speculation is bound to happen on a message board in matters such as this. Message boards are full of that sort of thing. But even speculation should be tempered with some degree of reasonableness as opposed to broad conclusions based on a single bit of information that supports one's obvious position. Talking to one person out of as group of 20 and then drawing a conclusion that the group of 20 would support your position, simply because the one you talked with does, is still speculation. Surely you can see that. What are the "facts"? The transfer occurred because of reasons the county board felt were valid. Those reasons surely were used in the request for eligibility to the KHSAA and the Commissioner, acting per the KHSAA guidelines, also felt the reasons were valid and granted eligibility. The sending school chose not to appeal. The rest is history so why challenge it all again? It's done. And yes, labels do stick for a long time, particularly if one continues to flash those labels for all to see.

Well stated! And I am in the same boat as far as the "by-the-book" approach. But I also agree that there are always exceptions. I administered a youth league for many years and found that, as you state, it isn't always "cut and dry". There are invariably valid exceptions to rules. And I don't believe there can ever be enough rules to cover ever circumstance.

First, from what I read on the KHSAA website the Commissioner's Office, and Ms. Devries was the Commissioner, rules on eligibility cases once the request for waiver of the period of ineligibilty is made. So that process was followed and the Commissioner, reading the case as presented and the basis for the request, ruled in favor of the transfer being immediately eligible. And that ruling didn't take long, indicating the Commissioner felt the case was solid. I assume the board you speak of is the KHSAA Board of Control. If that assumption is correct, are you saying that one member of a board of 20 members can guarantee that the other 19 members agree with his point of view, which may be, as are many on this forum, biased against the particular school receiving the transfer? I doubt any one member can know how a group of 20 members might rule, particularly before they have seen the facts. And I think the "sending" school, the one the transfer left, was wise in not appealing the decision as that would have required the reasons for the transfer being approved at the county level being put out in full view. The sending school probably didn't want that. Plus, those reasons/facts would have been difficult for for Board of Control members reviewing the appeal to go against, IMO. I am just getting in on this discussion. It was kinda hidden because of its title. I'm amazed that a thread that starts out about a coach leaving a school evolves to a discussion about the rumored transfer of a student from that school, to a transfer that was approved and occurred last summer. Actually......................I'm really not all that amazed!!! But I do agree.........."what a joke!" :deadhorse:

Beal was a starter and the top scorer for HC.

Among the others are UK, Louisville, Western KY, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia (from what I've read). Good player, one of the best DI prospects I saw this past season. Long and athletic for that size (6-2), good feet and a good jumper. Shot blocker deluxe. Lefty with a nice stroke. I think her offer list will continue to grow.

Sydney Moss of Boone County is playing for the Cincinnati Heat for the third summer. With her on the top Heat team is Sydni Wainscott of S-K. Boone County younger players on the other 16U Heat team are freshman Jessica Jones and sophomore Elizabeth Switzer. Freshman Jordan Scott from Conner is on one of the 15U Heat teams as well. The Heat program played in the C-Bus Classic a weekend ago and will play in several major tournaments around the country with the next big one being the Deep South Classic in Raleigh/Chapel Hill in two weeks. I know there are younger NKY players in the Heat program but these are the ones I'm aware of.
