Rockcastle's Hammond Picks Up Offers

Among the others are UK, Louisville, Western KY, Vanderbilt, and West Virginia (from what I've read). Good player, one of the best DI prospects I saw this past season. Long and athletic for that size (6-2), good feet and a good jumper. Shot blocker deluxe. Lefty with a nice stroke. I think her offer list will continue to grow.

UK has not offered Sarah Hammond. But they are the only ones that has not......

UK may know something no one else does.

UK probably knows they don't have a shot at Sara..... They didn't recruit her hard enough in my opinion.

Or she is over rated in their opinion. Time will only tell. UK is a program on the rise IMO. But she may make them regret it.

Hammond is a legit Big Time D1 player. She needs to keep working on her handling skills and one on one type moves but seems to have the talent and drive to get there.I hope she stays in state so we can watch her. Both Louisville and Kentucy have been fun to watch the past two years.Could she be a program and job saver for Coach Cowles at WKU??

She could be a program changer and WKU. I would say they have a hard road to hoe to get her.

Hammond is a legit Big Time D1 player.

If legit big time, then why not UCONN or TN offered.

Jericho do you have to be offered by Tennessee or UCONN to be a big time player? Please explain yourself. By the looks of your posts you are a Rock fan and I wonder why all the negative posts about a great kid that plays right there in Mt Vernon?

She is a great player and I know her well. BUT yeah to be elite you have to go to elite programs IMO. If a kid signs in football with UK then IMO he is really good, but when he signs with FLA he is elite IMO. There are elite schools and they dont just take anybody, but if good enough they will try like heck to get them and at least offer, I wish her the best of luck adn hope she shows ELITE schools why she was a mistake to pass on. But IMO she has done or hasnt done something to show them why she is elite. yeah she is tall, runs well, dribbles good for a big girl, good shot blocker. Now she will get to show other girls in the country with same height and skills if she is good enough. Not like next year when she is tallest on floor. Kind of like the big girl fom Jackson Co, she dominated in HS and was a decent player at UK. Not elite or she would have been at UT or UCONN. But it is my opinion.

Here is my opinion. She played at the Deep South Classic at the University of North Carliona in April against some of the best teams and players in the country. Out of that one tourney, she has received offers from North Carliona, UCLA, Old Dominion, South Carliona, Vanderbilt, Texas, etc. Do I need to go on? Below is the ESPN tip sheet from that tournament that you might want to read before you comment anymore to people who actually know whats going on.

This kid still has another year of high school ball to show the "elite" programs that they need to recruit her. IMO Ms. Hammond is the best post player in the state as a jr.

Also ANY offer to a D-1 school would make any player an elite player in my book. D-1 scholarships are incredibly hard to get and only elite players get the opportunity.

Sarah will play the 3/4 in college. Every team recruiting her right now is for that position.

You r correct BD Chem when u say any D-1 is elite. My own child, whom everyone is saying is D-1 material isn't getting the door beaten down from coaches at that level. Now, concerning Sara, she is the best player to ever play at Rockcastle. She has done things that just stand out among the other girls on her team and ones that she has played against. But she has had help from her teammates and she is not shelfish in her play. For example, the Fothergill girl at Southwestern scores 28 a game but the majority of the offense runs through her. With Sara, its probably 60-40. But thats probably why Rockcastle is a contender every year in their District and Southwestern isn't. Sara would probably score 40 a game if she was told to shoot it everytime.
