Rockcastle's Hammond Picks Up Offers

Featured Replies

can't believe some of the negativity....I didn't know there were only 10-12 elite players in girls basketball in the entire country...I mean, that's all UT and UCONN bring in a year at the most. geez.

Hammond is a stud and will make whatever program she goes to VERY happy to have her.

I know this Louisville fan would love to see her playing for the Cards in 2011!

EKU is D1 in basketball and I dont see players beating thier doors down to go there. Some schools are more elite than others IMO. So sorry, IMO not all D1 schools are elite. If I had to pick my school adn I had to choose between TN or South carolina then guess what, TN gets it because they are elite adn SC isnt. How can you say all D1 schools are elite. You must not know much about sports or tradition.

I do hope Sara does great. Her family is super nice and so is she. She is a super ball player and will do great wherever she goes.

So just becasue I dont think some of the ELITE schools like you think are elite doesnt mean I hope she does bad. I am a true ROCK fan and hope the best for everyone here. She gives us positive publicity which is hard to get here.

When is the last time the big ELITE D1 school EKU did anything. Lets see adn ELITE school like UCONN has won 70+ straight games. SO NO, not all d1 schools are elite.

Hammond is an elite player...bottom line. To get offers from the schools that she has already as a junior proves that. Tennessee is not even in the league of UCONN at this point...no one is. But to be elite, IMO, does not mean you have to be in the top 5 or 6 kids in the country that go to UCONN. Elite is top 100 at least...probably 200 with as many girls that are now concentrating on basketball.

I am not saying elite players. I am saying there are elite schools. She is elite for us, but how many Sara Hammonds are there in TX, FLA, OR CAL.

UK and UL both have signed 4 players each this year from the top 100 list. I looked at the ESPN list for 2011 girls top 60 and didnt see Hammond on it.

If Sara did go to EKU or some other "non-elite" college, she would make them an Elite school. Its the players that make the schools what they are.

So if John Wall went to EKU, it all of a sudden becomes ELITE. FUNNY.

You become an ELITE school from tradition and performance in NCAA Tourny.

Jericho do you consider Kentucky, University of Lousiville, Notre Dame,North Carliona, UCLA, Texas elite schools? Simple question that requires a yes or no answer.

Of the list of teams you posted. Yes they are ELITE in some sports.

UK, UL, No in girls basketball

UK, UL, North Carolina, NO in Football

All but ND in mens basketball

UCONN is elite in mens and womens basketball, but not anything else.

Womens basketball is the topic. So UL, Notre Dame, North Carliona, UCLA,Texas are elite schools or not? Ill give you that EKU, WKU, Uk are not considered elite schools at womens basketball but the rest are.

UL is NOT ELITE in womens basketball, the others are.

UL gets to the finals once and they are elite. NOT,

Does that mean Butler is ELITE since they made it to the finals?

No Butler is not elite, they are a mid major. Louisville was not a elite program till Walz got there but he has changed that. Elite programs get the best players. Look at this past year and their record was not good( injuries). But look at the players they are getting and are in the running for and you will see they are gonna be back next year, not in 2-3 years. Elite programs stay at the top, that I give you. Louisville women are acheiving that right now and are on the verge of being one of the best in the next few years, year in and year out. I am a big Kentucky fan and even after their great year this year, they are not elite, but if they can put together a good 5 year run they will be there. Look at last year, where was Tennessee? One bad year dont make them not elite.Demoss coming back will help them alot. Old Dominion used to be elite, but they could not sustain.

Bottom line Hammond is a major player. If she was not she would not have offers she has. Period.

TN was a # 1 seed last year.

Hammond is good. So answer this.

Why isnt she listed as top 60 in ESPN.

Is she an average player compared to other states top players. If so why not listed in top 60. I know ESPN doesnt have them all right all of the time, but if she was so ELITE then she would be on the list.

Sometimes some of our fans never venture out and travel and realize our best sometimes isnt so best compared to other places.

But yeah she has been offered by some good schools.
