12-16 is second best in their history? Not knocking them, just seems they've had better years, but again, I guess they haven't been around all that long in comparison to some schools:idunno:

I don't disagree. I do think Boone could make a run, but I don't know if they could bring back the hardware...

My personal belief is that while there may be 4 or 5 of these teams with a legit chance of winning the region, I only see two that could actually make a realistic run at Rupp...

NewCath could've beat anyone last night. That said, there were times that Pangallo was talking Highlands press 1 on 3 and winning, and I think it will be much more difficult against Holmes should both teams win...

Do the girls give out Defensive awards and Hustle awards like the boys?

I was just referencing that while they may not have as much talent as teams like Boone or Holmes I could see them stealing one from them because of the way they play defense and execute...

IMO Highlands doesn't have an overwhelming amount of exceptional talent, but they play good defense and execute well.

Why shouldn't we? Maybe not look down on, but I would definitely think less of a kid that is a constant trash talker or yelling at the officials than one that just plays the game. There are kids out there like that you know...

Not being negative at all toward Beechwood....simply trying to provide a reasonable possibility as to why they didn't get their fair share. And I have no reason to be defensive about it, because I have no horse in the race. I root for Dayton and they didn't even have people in the running to my knowledge. They won several games this year, but lost to Beechwood and Calvary (both times I think). Individual and team are different when it comes to awards like it or not:isurrender:

Disagree....easy to have the best TEAM, but not the best players. It's not an individual sport, it's a team sport. Don't think the coaches should be embarrased at all. Apparently all have seen all the players that were nominated, and that's what they base their decision on I assume. There may be more to it, as far as whether some players are head cases or punks, or simply some may give a coach a reason not to vote him high on the list, but it isn't one coach.....it's all.

The bold is where you are wrong. There is a lot of things that aren't called, doesn't mean they didn't happen. OJ wasn't found guilty, that doesn't mean he didn't do it. The goaltend was a goaltend that wasn't called. Ridiculous that it wasn't called, but tough break. I've talked to non bias people, to Dayton people, and to Newport people, and they all agree that it was a tough break that the goal tend that wasn't called. So I guess I'm kinda done arguing about it because I'm not looking for justification from anyone else. I know what happened. So do a lot of other people....

Thats interesting considering Holmes just moved into 4A from 5A... I don't think they will let the boys move up to D2 and the girls stay in D3 and I don't thik they should either. If they want to move up they should all move up. But it could possible because isn't the coaches association different for boys and girls ?

I think they can move up provided they do in boys/girls sports and go through the proper procedures. I think Highland FB plays what... 4A or 5A schedule with 2A enrollment? Help me out Bird fans.

What I think about this is that since the DIII coaches vote, they only see him twice..maybe three time per year, and possibly he had a few off games defensively against 1 or 2 teams. Wouldn't take much to push him into 2nd place, particularly if his best efforts may have been vs. DI or DII teams which did not vote for DIII candidates....just a thought

Were you there????????? If so, you are blinded by facts, because we never want the facts to get in the way of your opinion, and if not, you can't comment intelligently about the facts. I'll repeat....ask Newport's coaches and players. Newport won, Dayton lost, and Newport moves on. Can't unring the bell. As far as your comment above, that's inaccurate as well, because we don't want to go there about fouls that could have/should have been called on either team and I'll leave it at that.:irked:
