Engineers 35-7. Only thing to worry about in this one is Estill looking ahead to week 2 of the playoffs, hope they have the intensity high in this one and keep rolling.

Wilson is a good player, but to say that Boyd has nothing other than him I think is more of a reflection on how Wilson is used and the play calling. Zac Wilson did not win 4 games this season, Boyd County did. When the Lions beat Lawrence County the backup QB threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for the third score. Unfortunately, Evans went back to playing Wilson at Quarterback the next game. I have thought all season that Boyd would have been better served to have moved Wilson to tailback and at times put him in the slot and move him around to get the ball in his hands in positions to make plays. He's not particulary strong in the passing game and the good teams have figured that out daring him to throw it and bottling him up on the run. Plus, we all know players read these posts and it has to be disheartening to the rest of Boyd's team to be called the Boyd County Wilsons and other comments like that I have seen on here. Just my opinion. :thumb:

Whew, Montgomery has had a disappointing year but I can't see Southern beating them at home. MC 20 MS 7

Any thoughts on this one? In my opinion Montgomery 2-6 really needs to win this one against Madison Southern 0-8 at home.

A side note, but the backup quarterback for Boyd who's the better passer of the two is out with a finger injury. Nice stats Painter, dude do you ever just leave the house other than to watch the Tomcats? :walk: After Painter's stats and the injury to Arthur, I'm changing my prediction to 28-21 Boyd.

No I was saying due to schools playing up there will always be schools with the same enrollment or smaller than schools requesting to move down. In other words no one could be granted a request to move down due to teams that play up. Clear as mud right? :laugh:

Did she run the option, wing T, or pro I? :laugh:

Seems to me that the KHSAA has a blanket denial they can issue in every case due to schools with smaller enrollments volunteering to play up. So theoretically you're always going to find a school with the same enrollment as the petitioning school that is still in that class. If a school, such as Highlands, wants to play up and is o.k. with it, that shouldn't penalize schools that want to actually play in the same class as schools with similar enrollments. I think Ashland gets hosed on their district assignment.

Oh I don't know, a t-shirt cannon fired by the Ashland cheerleaders is what I would ask for, in addition to the above of course. :flame:

I would put votes in for Jones at Estill County, Vanderhoof at Raceland, McWhorter at Berea, and their names escape me right now but I think the coaches at Fairview and Ashland deserve mention. Ashland won 2 games last year, and Fairview is an up and coming program that used to be everyone's homecoming game.

Just an observation, but it seems that Boyd has the same problem as some other schools in that the coaches from the major sports encourage kids to commit to that sport year around and it's hurting them overall. I also don't sense the administration at Boyd is really committed to the program, first they bring back Zorn who has good years in the past but everyone knew was at the end of his career, and then they hire Wooten. Don't know Wooten personally, but have seen his freshman teams play and I'm not sure he's ready to be a program leader, but I could be wrong.

Agree with this poll other than Russell and Estill should be flip-flopped. Russell has two losses to Estill's 1 and that was by 1 point at Breathitt.

Grant County is much improved but I don't see them beating the Lions at Boyd County. I'll say Boyd 35 Grant 21.

Larkey will get it done at Harlan, but you have to give him a few years to get the system in, get his weight lifting program in and the Middle School and Jr. Pro leagues going well and teaching his system. Does anyone know what district Harlan moves to next season in 5A? Crazy as it sounds it might be easier than the one they're in with Breathitt and Estill.

I agree, no way McCreary beats Boyd at their place.

Would love to see the Tomcats pull this one off, but J.C. is just a heck of a team. I'm going to say Johnson Central 35 Ashland 28

Had a feeling this one would not be close. J.C. clearly the class of this district.

This will really jumble up the district. Ashland, Woodford and Station will all most likely be 2-2 with Ashland beting Woodford, Woodford beating Station, and Station beating Ashland. Unless Ashland can regroup with a big upset of J.C.
