  1. If the game was at Maysville on the same night it would still be against UK and Miller's senior night. So wouldn't the same fans opt out for that same reason and if so that is not because of location. It is hard to compete head to head against a UK basketball game anytime whether it is high school games, bingo night or even church. We have all heard the stories of churches adjusting times during NCAA tournament times.
  2. Not the only problem as there are other issues. Such as 40+ years of home court advantage and now there are viable options, parking, restrooms, and the always very hot gym are some other issues. And to be fair some of these issues such as parking may be a problem at Montgomery with only one weather dampened tournament with a smaller than usual crowd in the past to compare to and an unseasonably warm winter may make that gym an oven also.
  3. ^^^^^ I am sorry that it is a lot different for you this time and I hope you can work it out. I know sometimes how hard it is to adjust life to make a ballgame. It is a lot different for me this time also but the break is in my favor for a change. I will get off work at a normal time, grab the family and 15 minutes will be in Mt. Sterling. If it follows the same rotation pattern and next year it goes to the BOK then the break is for the NKY fans, then you will get two good years at the Fieldhouse before I get the break again. No one is the big winner or loser and that is the fairest way.
  4. Student cheering sections you might be right but GRC has a nice size and very active non student following that brings a nice crowd to a lot of away games. For example the GRC crowd was larger than the Bourbon crowd which was playing at home in the first round of the district. In the Ashland Invitational earlier this year the GRC crowd was at least as large in not larger than the crowd for the host school, Ashland, and that road trip was 150+ mile round trip.
  5. You are right it would be better than nothing. Of course it pushes the teams in the second game later into the night with their travel time. So someone has to get the short end of the deal.
  6. Agreed it is a haul for them, but if the rotation continues at least they get the short drive once every four years.
  7. So let me get this correct at the BOK fans should sit with their teams fans, at Montgomery it is the same, but at the Fieldhouse Mason fans should sit where they want and then the rest of us sit with our fans in what is left of our section. Now I understand. Between this and the geography lessons I have read today I understand.
  8. Agreed weekdays are tough with work and school but even the great Fieldhouse had early games on school nights. It has been an effort for GRC and Montgomery fans to get to early games there for 40+ years. I for one would just assume to have it every year at the BOK, the closest thing to a neutral court and I don't mind the drive over better roads.
  9. There is no way by looking at a map that Maysville is the geographic center of the 10th region. The center is somewhere near Cynthiana.
  10. Not much different than for a lot of fans trying to get to the Fieldhouse by 6:30pm, especially if you wanted to get there early enough for a good seat and decent parking.
  11. Amen! We will actually be able to be home in time to see the sports on the local news. I guess they cover the games, only had one other chance in 40+ years to check.
  12. I think Mason and Black will be to much for Scott and will win by a dozen. My only question is how many Mason fans will show up at the Fieldhouse out of habit looking for the game.
  13. , The Mason County fans have grown up with always having the tournament. They can not understand how anyone would want it to be elsewhere. Clark and Montgomery fans have been driviing over 100 mles round trip to late night ballgames over small country roads for 40+ years. The roads run both ways. The Fieldhouse was a fine facility in its day, but that day has come and gone. The place is always hot, parking unless you arrive hours early is horrible, the restrooms are dumps, the seating of the fans is designed to bolster the home court advantage and the pop corn is not all that great. We have been down this road a hundred times. It is only FAIR to rotate. Mt. Sterlling has numerous restaurants from Cracker Barrel, chain restauratants, nice local restaurants, and enough hotels for those who want to stay. The revenue is probably greater at Mason but the regional is to determine the representative to the Sweet Sixteen and not a fundraiser for smaller schools. And before anyone says it again we all know that Mason has proven they can win it at all the venues. I will say this one more time, Mason and their supporters are too biased to admit that it is not their destiny to always host the 10th Regional Tournament and it is time to rotate.
  14. Congrats to Coach Humphrey and Bopper. Well deserved after the great seasons they are both having.
  15. Top bracket is tough. GRC has to like their draw but need to remember what Augusta almost did to Mason. These type of games can be overlooked and dangerous.
  16. If KSD wants to play these games then it really doesn't matter what we think. Both sides just have to make the best of it.
  17. As expected now time to get ready for GRC/Montgomery III.
  18. Should win but got to make them all count now. Need to come out and jump on them early and set the tone.
  19. [ Every Royal who played scored as Mason ends the regular season above .500, though that becomes moot come Monday when the Royals take on St. Patrick in the 39th District tournament at Bracken County. "Everybody's zero and zero right now," O'Hearn said. "Those 27 are practice games. The real games start Monday." In that district for all purposes Mason starts 2-0 and is already waiting on the regional draw.
