In playoff games in the past 5 years T is 21-1.

You just refuse to give NKY 4A any credit at all. When they win a game you don't expect them to win you chaulk it up to weakness in their opponent instead of strength on the part of NKY 4A. Last year in a supposedly down year NKY 4A was 2-2 against Lou 4A in the first round of the playoffs. Two years ago NKY 4A was 3-1. Three years ago they were 2-2. NKY 4A has shown that they are every bit as good as Lou 4A except for T, (and X and H) but the gap between T ( and X and H) is closing as evidenced by the fact that in a good year NKY 4A can knock off T.

Two years ago Dixie was waxed by NCC in a scrimmage 28-0. Would you care to guess how Dixie faired against T that year?

I remember the score and I'm not surprised that somebody who lives in Louisville believes what you believe. I want to know if somebody who lives in Fort Thomas agrees with you!

LN, Your last post surprised me and it seems inconsistent (to me) with previous posts of yours. If the advantage in numbers that a 4A or 3A team possesses over a 1A team, means that the larger school should win 9 out or 10 times and should be embarrassed if they don't, then how should Lou St X feel if they lose to Highlands this year? X has a large advantage in numbers over Highlands similar to the advantage Highlands has over many 1A schools. Should Lou St X beat Highlands 9 out of every 10 times they play? Should X be embarrassed if they don't?

I would be interested in hearing about teams that didn't do very well last year but are expected to be much better this year. In NKY the teams that are most likley to do well this year are the same teams that will did well last year. Perhaps after last year's losing season, Cov Holy Cross will turn in a winning season this year. What about other teams across the state? Will Lawrence Co turn things around? They used to be very good a few years back but have struggled lately.

Did he actually tear his ACL? I would assume that a 4-6 week recover time means that he doesn't have to have surgery.

As good as Highlands, Beechwood, Boyle, and Danville are in some years, they would want no part of facing X and T each and every year.

If I remember correctly Brandent Englemon was going to go to UK until UK got in trouble with the NCAA. Only then did he backout of his verbal commitment and sign with Michigan. IF UK would have kept their nose clean Brandent would have honored his verbal commitment.

If you know Bob then you know that he doesn't shy away from letting his opinion known. I have no idea if Bob went ot the meeting but I'm more likely to believe in unicorns and leprechauns than to believe Bob's opinion on the subject was a secret.

NKY 6A (Boone Co, Ryle, Conner, Campbell Co, Simon Kenton) Five of the 8 NKY 4A schools remain in the top class while Dixie, Scott, and Holmes drop down. Only Dixie has a strong program so the district isn't as strong as NKY 4A currently and it will be a little easier to make the playoffs but it's still a strong district. Also, there are plenty of rivalries within the district and travel isn't a problem. On a statewide level they still have to go through the Big 3 for a state title. Overall, I don't seem the new alignment as changing much for these 5 schools. NKY 5A (Dixie Heights, Scott, Holmes, Grant Co) Assuming other teams from NKY don't move up to 5A, Dixie clearly is the cream of the crop in this group. Dixie will have to schedule some strong non-district games to keep sharp since Scott and Grant Co wouldn't be expected to provide much opposition and Holmes is up and down at best. Travel isn't too bad. Grant Co already comes north for district games and traveling to Grant Co isn't that far. The strongest rivalry would be between Dixie and Scott since the kids on both teams all know each other but it's hard for a rivalry to be heated when one team usually wins going away. On the plus side Scott, Holmes, and Grant Co would make the playoffs. On a statewide level, Dixie would have the luxury of not having to go through Louisville to win a state title. For Holmes, Scott, and Grant Co I think the new alignment is a net plus, for Dixie it's a slight net plus or maybe a push since the statewide outlook is mitigated by the weak district. NKY 4A (CovCath, Pendleton Co) CovCath is no longer in the same district as long-time rival Highlands. In fact they don't have any real rivals at all in their district. Overall, the district is weak but other than Highlands the other teams in CovCath's current district are weak. Travel is also slightly worse. On a statewide level, the path is easier because Highlands does not stand in the way but there is still plenty of other 4A competition remaining. Overall the new alignment is a net minus for CovCath. NKY 3A (Highlands) Highlands is put in a weak district with no natural rivalries and long travel distances. On a statewide level 3A is nowhere near as strong as 3A in the current alignment so Highlands would be a prohibitive favorite to win a state title nearly every year. Probably no other team in the state would want to move up in class more than Highlands. If they can't move up in class, the new alignment is a big net minus for Highlands even if they win a boatload of titles. NKY 2A (NCC, Newport, Lloyd, Cov Holy Cross) Although the new alignment separates NCC from Beechwood, this district still has plenty of strength, natural rivalries, and short travel distances. For Cov Holy Cross the new alignment is a probably a push. For Newport and Lloyd, the good news is that the gain a rival very close to home but the bad news is that the rival is very very strong. The new alignment probably helps Lloyd's and Newport's gate while it diminishes their chances for a state title. Overall I'll call it a push or maybe a slight negative for them. For NCC they lose rival Beechwood, gain two good but not as strong district rivals. On a statewide level NCC still has to deal with Danville so it's probably a push from that perspective. NKY 1A (Beechwood, Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow) Without NCC in the district, the new alignment is a net minus for Beechwood. They could still play each year in a non-district game but without playoff implications in the mix the luster can help but fade. For Bellevue, Dayton, and Ludlow they still have some natural rivals to face, they're not required to play NCC, and travel distances are short. They also have a better chance to go further in the playoffs since defeating Beechwood is no small task, but defeating both Beechwood and NCC is doubly difficult. If Beechwood decides to play up, then it's definitely a net plus for the Bellevue, Dayton, and Ludlow. On a statewide basis, 1A is definitely weaker without NCC and Danville so a Beechwood vs Mayfield will probably decide the state championship in most years.

Even though Dixie's district would change drastically I don't believe our schedule would change that much. I presume that Holmes, Scott, and Grant Co would be in our district. That would mean we would have to make room for Grant Co and maybe one other team. If I had to guess what team Dixie would drop it would be Beechwood simply because we don't have a long history of playing them. I do believe Dixie would keep SK on the schedule because it's a Kenton Co school. I also doubt that Dixie would drop CovCath.

Even if you had a team that was stacked and you thought your team would win the 6A title if they played in that division, it would make more sense to schedule X, T, and/or H during the regular season in preparation for the 5A or 4A playoffs. If you win a state title and you beat the team that won the 6A title you would have a legitimate claim to be the best team in the state. If you lose to the big 3 during the regular season you would still have your state title. It would be even more unlikely that a team would choose to play up if they had to do it for more than one year. While you might have a team capable of beating the Big 3 in a particular year, it's extremely unlikely that you would have 2 or 3 teams in a row. If you could play up for just one year it's much more likely a coach with both the talent and the ego would take the chance.

The Enquirer could still be correct if the cost is $6M for the projects going on right now which are not related to the sports complex.

Dixie NCC CovCath NKY 4A

Fitting in the softball field was one of the biggest problems the architects had to solve. They were scratching their heads trying to figure out a way to fit a regulation sized softball field in the space available. I don't know if they solved the problem but that is where it's going.

sportsfan41, Now that you brought it up, do you know if Miles Simpson will be attending SK this fall? He played for the Raiders and was also one of the best players in the NKYFL. Based upon where he lives I would expect him to go to SK but I had heard rumors that he might go elsewhere.

Campbell Co should have a very good freshman team this year. They will be led by Austin Johnson who was one of the very best players in the NKYFL last year. Austin led the CC Red Devils to the championship game where the Red Devils defeated the the Raiders. Austin scored in the neighborhood of 30 TD's for the Red Devils last year.
