Things may have finally turned the corner for the better at Cambell County. They had 75 kids sign up for freshman football. Don't know how many will stick with it, but they recently have only been getting 30 to 35 sign up. The kids really seem to like coach Styer and his staff. They should make some noise this year and the future looks really bright.

Coach Styer is a great guy. I hope things are turning around for the Camels. A school that size should compete every year.

That's a bunch of kids, when I coached we would be giddy over 40+, by seasons end we could always count on 8- 10 quitting.

You should really feel good about this freshman turnout. For the past two years, the pepple powerhouse, under Builder Bob, has only been able to get 55 to 60 to come out as freshmen (usually 70-100). However, since popular offensive Coach Coverdale has returned to the landfill from his sabbatical in Southern Indiana, I would expect their numbers to increase.

Wasn't it this time last year Campbell County really never had a head coach. Then who ever hired Coach Styer and whoever came up with the idea of bringing in quality coaches such as Keith Culp, Kip and Justin Mason, Dusty Cottingham, and Doug Miller. Must of known something that alot of previous coaches could'nt figure out. Which is bring in some good young coaches that know most of these players and can relate to them. And, to teach them basic football fundamentals, to play with pride and confidence, and to play good old fashion physical football. Look for the Camels to win Class (AAAA) this year.

I definitely think Campbell County is on the up-tick, but this may be carrying the magnitude of the up-tick too far. :lol:

Austin led the CC Red Devils to the championship game where the Red Devils defeated the the Raiders. Austin scored in the neighborhood of 30 TD's for the Red Devils last year.

Now come on OX, you can't serve me up a softball like that and hope I'll be silent.:lol: I think CC finally has a coaching staff to conmpete. The kids from the pee wee organazation are buying into it with Coach Kulp on the staff, as I thought they might. But I don't think this year is the year they get over the hump. Ryle, Boone County, and my beloved Dixie Colonels all return alot more than the Camels. I would think a playoff appearance and good showing in the district is more reasonable but hey, thats just me. Shoot for the moon fellas. It all starts with one man believing.

For those who don't know, the Raiders feed Dixie, primarily, Beechwood, SK, and Scott secondarily, and occasionally CCH and HHS. Turkeyfoot Middle school which is much the same as far as its feeder system, won the middleschool championship last season in NKY.

That's what I've been told. I'm sure that the resurgence of players in the program is a direct result of the current coaching staff. I'm very happy that CCHS seems to be turning a corner.

He does sound like a great player. I'm impressed with the turnout for the Camels and happy that they are turning the corner or have turned the corner. My Baby Birds better be worried about the Camels this year. We have a 27 game winning streak to extend and protect. We play the Camels on Sept 14th, but first we need to get past Scott, CovCath and Ryle. Sounds like there are going to be some really good freshmen teams in N. Ky this year.

I am glad they got Schlarman out of there too. Now Campbell can continue to regain the once total domination of Northern Kentucky football they had in prior years.
