Campbell County Football

Featured Replies

Wasn't it this time last year Campbell County really never had a head coach. Then who ever hired Coach Styer and whoever came up with the idea of bringing in quality coaches such as Keith Culp, Kip and Justin Mason, Dusty Cottingham, and Doug Miller. Must of known something that alot of previous coaches could'nt figure out. Which is bring in some good young coaches that know most of these players and can relate to them. And, to teach them basic football fundamentals, to play with pride and confidence, and to play good old fashion physical football. Look for the Camels to win Class (AAAA) this year.

Is that a prediction? That would give Coach Styer the COY award, hands down!

I am glad they got Schlarman out of there too. Now Campbell can continue to regain the once total domination of Northern Kentucky football they had in prior years.

What prior years are you speaking of?:creepy:

92Bird is being just a little cute but I think he wants to bring up a good point which is Coach Schlarman did the heavy lifting at Campbell and deserves some of the credit.

I am not trying to take anything away from Coach Styer but ignoring Coach Schlarman in this equation is a mistake.

I was speaking to the point about 75 freshman coming out for this years team. I think that is a DIRECT result of Coach Kulp being on the varsity staff. CC's varsity will be competitive this year IMO, but I don't think it will be as close a district race for fourth this season. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly eat crow on this one.:D

No doubt Sandman. My point is Coach Schlarman had the Camels headed in the right direction for the first time in a long time.

Agreed.

I think that fact, his leaving, and the exposure of the lack of support from the administration at the time are big time factors in the turn around as well. Good luck camels.:thumb:

How can you not give credit where credit is due Schlarman was a big factor in getting the Camels football turned around and I am sure glad that he is the head coach of my Wildcats

For those who don't know, the Raiders feed Dixie, primarily, Beechwood, SK, and Scott secondarily, and occasionally CCH and HHS. Turkeyfoot Middle school which is much the same as far as its feeder system, won the middleschool championship last season in NKY.

The raiders feeind program is good, but you oughta take a look at whats cames outa South Kenton Lions,(SK Territory) It's sad how much talents leaves this area,.. just ask Highlands they could tell you all about it...

sportsfan41,

Now that you brought it up, do you know if Miles Simpson will be attending SK this fall? He played for the Raiders and was also one of the best players in the NKYFL. Based upon where he lives I would expect him to go to SK but I had heard rumors that he might go elsewhere.

I disagree with this statement. A factor yes, but not a huge factor.

I'd say the other coaches hold their own with Culp so I doubt he is the DIRECT reason 75 freshman came out. It probably had something to do with winning a few games last year too.

I am in no way disrespecting the other members of a fine Cambell County High school football, staff. Just pointing out that when the lead dog for the last umpteen years from their feeder system, the Campbell County Red Devils, becomes the Offensive coordinator of the CCHS varsity team, it can't help but draw a few extra numbers out of the feeder system. After all, he was those boys coach previously and they were very successfull with him.

Unless something has changed , he's at SK .

There is that pandora's box we discuss from time to time.... better known as open enrollement. He could go somewhere else if his parents are so inclined. Not saying he is, I know nothing about the young man, it's just that in Kenton County, you should count your chickens untill they hatch.:D
