Dixie Stadium Construction

Heres a few pics. For those that have been there before it takes a little imagination to remember how it was. Nothing remains of the old stadium but dirt.

When do you hope to be playing at the new stadium?

June.

But seriously, it may or may not be ready for week 1 which is Highlands, if not our next home game is week 5 Scott.

They could be done way ahead of schedule if they are aggressive, which it seems they are. This is only half of the project. The area in the photos where you see a hill is where the baseball field an other practice field will be.

Well it's about time you got some pics, even though I've driven by a few times. :sssh: I guess I should go back to the other thread and apologize for giving you a hard time a few minutes ago. ..............................................................nah..:jump:

Will you all be adding reserved seating at all?

Officially, we have always reserved the 50 yard line seats for players parents and such, though there are no ushers to check your tickets.:p There will be a home seating section, (the far right concrete wall), and a visitors side ( the left side concrete wall, imagine that:laugh: ) That is where the stands will be. Concessions stands will be on both sides. If you look real close you can follow the outline of the field and track. Well...... maybe not. I'll try and get some better pics as the construction goes on, but it was raining and the lighting was not an optimal condition when I took these.:D

BTW... The area closest to the picture that seems lower is where the new softball field will be.

So, they dug up three blades of grass and knocked down the bleachers. About time.

I had lots of great memories of playing at Rice-Mounjoy Stadium. But honestly, it was horrible from day one. The "planners" simply sqeezed it into whatever room they had available and slapped it up. And for a dose of charm, they strung up about 6 miles of chain link in and around it. The structure always had a just-making-do, temporary look to it.

Nobody coud EVER get grass to grow there. Back in the day, we spent about an hour before every Thursday practice picking up rocks and glass from the playing field. Lots of it.

Certainly, there's some history there (not to mention some personal "glory"). Many memorable football games. Sold-out crowds--loudest in NKY. Kicks going into the drive-thru at KFC. Fans leaning on the fence heckling the refs.

I will miss the quirky atmosphere. But I won't miss the dirt.

Hey Sandman...Will Rice Mount remain the name of the new stadium?

I thought it was great place to play....until it

rained....

SM,

I am sure that all of the Red Colonels fans, parents as well as the students, are extremely proud of the new complex. Best of luck in the upcoming football season .....except that one day.:thumb:

I have not heard of any planned changes as to the name of the field or stadium. I would imagine that PFC Tanners flag memmorial will be included in the new complex as well, though I'll check and let you know.

Any artists renderings of the future stadium? What is the plan for the press box? Any viewing suites? I'm guessing it will have sports turf, what will the endzones look like? Mid-field logo?

At first I thought that was Rice Mountjoy. lol
