That is an interesting diagnosis of the Red Devil and CCYFL system, i have yet to here of this. More power to you to do whats best for your boys.

I am one poster that agrees with 2HC in some aspects. I also agree with LN about the transfers not playing a big role in Highlands 19 state championships. However, the transfers has hurt their previous schools more than helped Highlands. A kid like Nevels would have helped out SK tremendously and maybe they start their run well before the Simpson era. That goes for many others....but Beechwood and CovCath are guilty also. And by guilty, i am not implying they are at fault, but they are benefactors of these transfers as well. And once again LN is correct, Highlands has supreme coaches vs. most of NKY. It is the responsibility of the schools to coach and improve their team from within but this becomes more difficult when players of extraordinary talents vacate their "home town" to find "greener" pastures.

When you're right, you're right. CCHS has and will continue to lose kids to Highlands for the Academics. :confused:

Seriously. If you ask anyone from Campbell Co.(Bellevue, Newport, Dayton..etc..) Highlands is disliked far beyond football. I respect their tradition and program but nobody likes people who look down on others. You can call me a hater but Highlands is hated because of who they think they are not who they are. Make no mistake, they are a great program and they deserve respect.

No, it isn't...as i said above. You can't blame the institution for having an appeal in the community. You can blame the institution if members of said institution deliberately draw families in. I think it is very common for families to move into Ft. Thomas when their kids are little. Highlands is a great school academically. It is also common for families to move to Ft. Thomas when their boy is in 9th grade, which may be athletically motivated but is legit. But we also know kids have an athletically motivated move to Ft. Thomas once school HS starts...the year the mitchell ruling took place, they had 3. No one ever speaks of nevels...But to answer the question of the original thread, I am going to say no. They may go 26-1 however...not to my liking.

It's about them expecting the state of KY and surrounding areas to treat them differently, because of their successes or "who" they are. It's about the lack of respect for other programs and constant nose towards the sky. It's about mile high egos and them feeling that they can collect players from all of NKY. It's not all their fault though, parents (such as Mike Mitchell's) buy into this and move their boys in to play football. Everyone who hates Highlands, hates them for those reasons.

That was a great season yet somewhat typical for NKY football. Beechwood winning the crown, Highlands or CovCath winning 3A, and one of our "big" schools (usually Boone) getting beat by Louisville

That is an excellent game. If they did that each week, not counting playoffs, the RB would collect 1,500 yards/ 20 TD's. How many backs do that in NKY each year?

Ryle has never won the district, outright....that should make them somewhat of a darkhorse. This year should be the year and if everything goes well, they could potentially host the 4th round. Home field advantage may give them a game vs. Louisville powerhouses.

A lot of people play varsity football. Don't get me wrong, SK will be a good football team and varsity experience means a lot. But...you really think they are going to be better?? If thats the case, watch out for SK.

I know everyone is entitled to opinions, being a public forum, but yours are absurd. Your rankings are ridiculous and your mind frame in general is skewed. I am excited for this season and frankly, i wish i had your phone number so i can pester you when Sk loses each game, as most people expect them to. I remember when SK was losing to NKY teams by 6 TD's on a weekly basis. Losing the best RB in NKY in a long time will hurt this program greater than you are led to believe.

Clyde seems to know what has to go on with BC. S. Alexander would only donate so much, to get them turf for 50 yards of the field. Boone would benefit so greatly of turf, just didnt have the motivation from the donor or school. I don't know which to use :lol:, here or prior.....:lol: Ryle will pass them up because their is no interest in the community in beating the Raiders from Union.....Go BCHS basketball.....

:thumb::thumb: that's without sarcasm. Ryle is just now beginning their second generation, being 18 years young. If Ryle Grads stay in NKY, they will no doubt send their children to the up an coming school, thus working to develop some history and tradition. And Ryle has only a state runner-up under their football belt but the school has achieved far more accomplishments than most care to realize, athletically and academically. :thumb:

Yes. It's a shame the Boone Co Schools, with their high level of excellence in many sports, didn't jump into the 21st century like our neighbors in Kenton. HS Sports are a very important aspect of HS and the community surrounding it. Lights, Turf, proper drainage at the BB field....all these things can benefit the entire community. Since the turf arrived at Ryle, there is just a different mentality. With a first class facility, you put together a first class program. You are correct in the fact the contractor should be held liable but the repairs are necessary. Also, I would venture to say around 10K/year for field maint. Just my guess.

Ryle's grass field was not a good field...in fact, in 2006 they were lucky to play on grass during that state run..mud rather. Ryle is a strong program and should deserve/expect community support, and if it cost some tax dollars, so-be-it. Every public school is entitled to field maintenance. And to answer the original thread post, Ryle is becoming hated but at the same time respected. In the past there were a good season here and there. But now they have developed and will continue to develop a program. That's what it is about in the long run...state championship. If members of the Ryle community don't see that as a goal, then why upgrade. Their facilities will continue to be top notch and I believe they will be the best team in NKY 6A and can compete at the state level for years to come. The Ryle program feels like they still have a lot to prove and its not long before they are recognized as a contender by all....thus being hated.

There are many ways this timing system could be improved...1)Have the athletes run in full pads 2)Have the WR run towards a deep vertical pass 3)Have RB's run towards a first down marker....all joking aside, speed varies throughout a football game. Elliott may run a 4.60 on the first play of the game for a 15 yard carry or vs. Cov Cath on an 80 yard run. But he may not be able to reach that 4.60 speed again for several minutes...or at all.

I understand your view but disagree. 18 years, and there is a good chance many of these boys have not reached that age yet, does not signify maturity by any means. The kids who i named that i feel could be exempt are because they have an intention to play at big time schools (I actually could have left nichols off, due to the nature of his position). I hope for all of the best players in NKY to play and their HS coaches promote this game to make it a true All-Star game.

No sir/mam...they are kids. Any person in HS, who has yet to develop major roles in society or responsibility should take their privilege to act as one. What is the risk, might I ask?? Practicing and then playing the game that they have played, more than likely, for a very long time. There's no risk greater or lesser than the previous time. When you worry about injury, injury will usually occur. These KIDS have a chance to be appreciated by all of NKY and experience playing with boys from other area schools. The only players that have the obligation to their scholly, is simpson, collinsworth, and nichols. I would understand their choices....And before I get pounced upon, I know it is not my job to empathize with their decision making but I think they are just going to miss a golden opportunity to do what they enjoy most.

It was my round about way, saying that baldwin isn't D1. I'm glad you got it...Baldwin is a nice player but unless he has 150 solo tackles this season, clocks a legit 4.5 (not timed by Coach Marksberry), and bench presses 225 20-30 times, he will fit in nicely at G'town, T More, or the Mount.
