Tom & Chris Larkey, ... good article
This was such a nice article. We count oursleves very lucky to have Coach Tom Larkey here in Harlan County and I am sure the boys and parents at North Laurel feel the same way about Chris and Dackery.

The Arena @ The David L. Williams Complex in Corbin
I'm trying to decide what to do. We've already missed the Lady Bear's first round game. I'd like to go support Harlan County's boys tomorrow night. Here's my break down of expenses: Family of 5 admission $42 Gas to drive on that "state of the art" road to Corbin $20 1 drink per family member $10-$15 After the game they'll have to eat because we aren't eating at the arena $25-30 (3 BOYS, they can put it away) We're looking at $100 to go watch one high school regional basketball game, where we may or may not have good seats. Hopefully the boys will win and the girls already have won their first round, so that's 2 maybe 3 more games. If we make it to the rest of the games we're talking about a car payment here to go watch the regional tournament. I'd like to go support our team, but Geez! I went to the regional tournament in Bell last year and had to park on the highway and stand in line to buy tickets. No problem. I sat with the fans from our school, sweated it out up in the top section, and had a blast. It felt like a regional tournament should. From my own personal experience, there's nothing more exhilerating than running into a packed gym with screeming fans and there's nothing more deflating than running into a large gym that is sparsely filled. The verdict's still out for me, but I'm not hearing good things about the Arena. We do enjoy listening to our local radio coverage. Harlan County Green Dragons??? :ohbrother: I suppose everybody can make a mistake though.

2010 Spring Football
How do you feel about Summer basketball or AAU? Would you agree that during the off season is an important time to improve in any sport?

Corbin/Harlan County Predictions 2/15
I predict that the Corbin fans will see how roomy and comfortable our gym is and think to themselves, "This would be a nice place to play the 13th regional tournament.":D Seriously, I think this game will be closer than what most people think. Good luck to the Black Bears!! The Bears seem to be peeking at a good time. Hope the weather permits this game to be played.

Who are the feeder schools for North Laurel?

Shake-up at KHSAA?
Just to be clear, you are saying that "girls" are capable of only understanding sporting activities that other females are active in such as basketball, softball, track, swimming, golf, cross country, volleyball, tennis and cheereleading? Everything except football? Because there's no way that anyone with female genitalia could possibly understand what it means to give up their Summer's lying by the pool and be outside sweating, running, lifting weights to improve in their prospective sport? Because no one with mammary glands could possibly understand "trench warfare"? :ohbrother:

Anybody else going through "Football Withdrawal"??
Agreed.

Harlan County 20 Pulaski Southwestern 7
I heard about that Bear Paw!!!! Apparently there were Bears running all over the place in Somerset Friday night, but we eventually ended up where we were supposed to be. Came in from all directions. (I'm not telling who's directions we used ) SW Pulaski has a very nice stadium. I thought we had a good turn out from Harlan Co. I expect a huge following for next week's game.

Harlan County 20 Pulaski Southwestern 7
Jamie had a great game last night and stepped up big time as did the rest of the Black Bear defense. The Harlan Daily reported that the Bear's defense held SW Pulaski to 51 yards rushing for the night. We just beat a really good football team. I glanced at SWP roster and it looks like they have a good core group returning for next season. Congrats to the Warriors on a great season. http://www.harlandaily.com/pages/full_story/push?article-Bears+turn+tables+on+Southwestern%20&id=4372485-Bears+turn+tables+on+Southwestern&instance=secondary_stories_left_column

Harlan County 20 Pulaski Southwestern 7
 Lungbuster's feeling the love! This team showed a lot of heart tonight and bounced back after the loss last week. Da'Bears are playing some good football at just the right time. These guys are doing whatever it takes to win, right down to the kids who play on the scout team's and push the starters every week to be better. Keep pushing our boys to get better coaches!!! I LOVE THIS TEAM!!! :dancingpa

Feeder Programs

Feeder Programs
There's simply not enough kids to split up the New Harlan middle school team. The number of kids from each of the school's that make that team up vary from year to year. If you split it up, you would have a team with 8 or 9 kids. When my son started playing there were only 2 kids in his entire school that participated in the football program. That number increases and decreases depending on the interest of the kids. It would make no sense to tear apart a good feeder program because they are doing well. Talent comes in waves for all programs. Cumberland, for instance is loaded this year with multi-talented players. Would you want to tear that program apart because it was successful?

Bell County 41 Harlan County 14
Explain. I'm missing the point being made. I think to be on Bell County's level of play it's just going to take nothing more than a tad bit more time. Things are progressing along very nicely. They've come a long way after one full "off season" of work. The kids are learning and improving. Most of all, they've got a different mindset about winning and what it's going to take to win. The coaches are working and molding what athletes they have. The middle school programs in the county are sending them plenty of talent to work with. So my assessment of the situation on this Halloween is in the words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "All in good time my pretty's....All in good time......."

Harlan County 15 Perry Central 14
This is all too confusing. I think they should just let the coaches who are in a three way tie have a corn hole tournament amongst themselves to decide top seed.

Harlan County 15 Perry Central 14
Somebody help me out: If Harlan Co beats Clay Co. and PCC beats Whitley, then Harlan Co would be first and Whitley second?? What if Whitley wins, Harlan Co wins, and Letcher loses? What if Whitley wins, Harlan Co. wins, and Letcher wins? Would we have a third seed? What if Whitley, Harlan Co., and Letcher all lose? and who can get the 4th seed? Does North still have a shot?

Harlan County 15 Perry Central 14
Every week these games get better and better and the Black Bears dig down and find a way to win! We actually had some fans leave when PCC went up by 14 with a little over 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. When are they going to learn that this bunch will NOT give up?!!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper: PCC is a good football team and their QB, Amis, is tough.

Perry County Central/Harlan County Predictions
I would say that field condition's will be less than desirable in tonight's game as well as for most teams around our area, unless they play on turf tonight.
