I know this thread is about the 16th this season and we've gone off the deep end here forecasting the future, so I'll follow suit. First, with the circus that has followed the Knipp saga last season, who in their right mind believes he's gonna stay at Elliott (unless you are from Elliott)? I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a myriad of other places. Second, in the event he stays at Elliott, I don't think I'd jump the guy with annointing him the best player in the region quite yet. Let's see how the season in this region plays out first. I believe there's a Barnhill kid at East and Terry kid from Rose Hill who may disagree with that. I don't care who they have nor how tall they are waiting in the wings, they don't have Ethan Faulkner, who is the difference maker. They don't have Jonathan Ferguson who is currently the best player in this region. So, I'll simply sit and watch the # of Elliott posters and their posts multiply like rabbits this season and in turn watch them drop like flies the next. I am looking forward to watching Elliott this season, they are fun to watch!!

Did you watch Raceland vs. Ashland? They dominated that game up front. How about the other games where Raceland ran all over their opponents. Common sense says this, Raceland beat Ashland at their place, Russell got lambasted by Ashland at Ashland, therefore, No chance Russell hangs with the Rams. Write it down, Raceland by 2 TDs +!

I disagree. I haven't seen anyone not give any of the Elliott players credit for being terrific players. Frankly, I believe it's just the opposite. When someone states that they think someone is better, however, you have the entire Sandy Hook faithful up in arms that you disrespected their boys. Once again, I have no problem saying that Ferguson is an outstanding player and he's no doubt a terrific scorer. I do think he has shortcomings that some others don't have. You'd think that they were lottery picks if you read the Elliott posters.

Unbelievable. For what it's worth, and amongst this crowd it obviously ain't much, I don't know how many Ferguson scored against Rose Hill in the regional tournament, but he didn't score much against them in the all-A. So, to say he simply ran through the 16th because of lack of resistance is not a valid point, IMO. I will never say he can't score, I've seen it time and time again. And if you want to classify him as a wing, then I'd agree he's a top 10 player there. All I'm saying is that I think that there are several I'd prefer if I had the option of selecting a few. I had better remove myself from this debate, I can see some toes are getting stepped on, which makes this thread no different from any of the others prior to the seasons start. Perhaps we can start a basketball advertising forum so promoters can take out ads for their own.

Unless I'm mistaken, he said Hood was 6-6, not Vee. What it comes down to is this, Elliott folks get up in arms when you suggest that others in the state are better than their players. And you have to love their devotion. And you can make an argument for Ferguson no doubt. My question is this: Can he play anything but the 2 at the next level? IMO, no he can't. He's a shooter plain and simple. He's a fine shooter for sure. But I think that there are others in the state who are more versatile on both ends of the floor. I wish all of them luck this season and in the future, no matter where they play.:thumb:

Wow, Elliott has the best point guard in the state, and according to Shooterx3, the second best point guard in the state and now the best wing in the state. I'll simply say that they should be the favorites to win it all. :dancingpa:dancingpa

It takes far more than good student/athletes to develop a program. The periferal junk at GC has caused that program to become the laughing stock of the region. Frankly I hate that it has. I recall the days of Steve Skaggs and company, Boo Williams all the way to Mike Scott and those teams. History is just that...........history. Those days have been loooooong gone from GC. I wish them all luck. I hope that the new coach can change the climate outside the walls of the Greenhouse. However, from every indication, his tactics behind closed doors to obtain the job have only fed the machine that has become the GC basketball "program". As for their outlook, they have pieces of a puzzle to become a regional contender, I'm not sold on regional power, but definite contender. I hope as I said before, that they are able to shed the junk.:thumb:
