There is suppose to be a fine. I have noticed over the last year or so there are a number of teams that do not report or do not report in a timely fashion.

To me that is comparing apples to oranges. As my last post mentioned talent plays a pretty large role. Those teams had some major talent recently. I do not know anything about the baseball or softball, so I cannot comment on those. However, their football team was very good recently because they had two Mr. Football finalists. They had Morgan who is starting for Minnesota and they had a running back (his name escapes me right now). The girls team has two Miss Basketball contenders right now. Rankin is a solid player, but I do not believe he will be in the Mr. Basketball running at the end of the year and I do not think there is a possible Mr. Basketball contender roaming the halls of Ryle who quit so like I said, apples to oranges. This thread is about all the preseason top 10 teams and players, so we should probably get back to that topic and discuss Ryle in its own thread. I haven’t seen many teams schedules yet this year. Are there any early top 10 match-ups we should be marking on our calendars?

Sometime I just do not understand the Ryle discord on this site. I understand they haven't had the most stellar record in the past 5 years but, I brought this up in another discussion, they haven't had the horses to complete against a big school schedule. I believe they have only had one all-region player in that span (Rankin) and it was just last year. It is hard to win consitantly at any level when you do not have a certain level of talent. If anything, it could be argued they have over achieved in some areas. I know they made the regional tournament last year after beating a Boone team in districts that had a lot more talent and was ranked #3 or #4 in the region at the time. The 33rd district is very tough to get out of lately and I dont know how many other times in the last 5 years they have made the regional tournament but I think it is atleast 2 or 3. Based on the record the previous poster listed for Ryle, it would seem to me they play pretty well towards the end of the season.

It is probably based on the fact Ryle has only had 1 all-region player in the last 5 years (Rankin). It not like they have been rolling out region player after region player without getting results.

Ryle struggles continue. Congrats to the Cougars on the district win.

I would disagree that Cooper had no answer. Cooper got quite a few open 3’s against it, they just didn’t hit them. I can think of at least two Houston missed and one Runyan missed. They got high quality looks against it, just didn’t hit them.

Remember that Kunkle broken his nose and had to play with a mask. That mask greatly affected his stats for a short period of time.

Coach Listerman is a great man and impacted so many lives in NKY. Congrats on a great career!

He is who I immediately thought about. If my memory is correct, he was third in voting that year for 9th POY. He was behind Doellman from Ryle and Brock from Simon Kenton.

Their records are so different over the last 5 years because of the McNeil family and Adam Kunkle. No one has been walking around the Ryle hallways in the last 5 years approaching that level of talent.

Exactly right. I had some free time this afternoon before the NFL games start so I went to the KHSAA score book and looked up the records of Ryle over the years. They have never been consistently good. They have a few years here and there that pop up but for the most part they have been mediocre for their entire existence. The records on the score book go back to 1997-98 so I believe there are a few years of records before that Ryle was open but I just wanted some quick data. They only have one year with single digit losses and most hover around .500. Seems to be a systemic problem, not just "coaching"

Just throwing this out for fun but SK is the most southern Kenton right? I think Ryle is the most southern Boone school. What if they got moved to the 8th with SK? That would make the 9th 20 teams. How many would that make in the 8th?

I was told he was having issues with the broken nose and had to have a small surgery on it. I'm not 100% on the amount of time he will be out but I know he is missing now because of the nose.

Per the scoreboard from Friday night. Then I saw on Twitter it was a double double for Rankin again with 24 & 13 reb.

Rankin has had a nice start to the season. He has got to be averaging over 20 ppg so far.

Heard the decision on this job could come out very soon. Anyone else heard anything about it?

This is probably the best high school game I have ever seen. Big shot after big shot was hit for both teams. Kids were exhausted by the end of it and it came down to a player off the bench hitting big FT's to seal the win for Dixie. Absolute phenomenal game.

From the Enquirer Article: Cooper, Ryle headed to 33rd District finals McDaniel finished with nine points. Senior Webster led Ryle with 14. Rankin, O’Hara and Cheesman all had 11. Craddock led Conner with 23 and senior Hemmerich had 20.

Second time this year Ryle beat Conner with a last second shot by McDaniel.
