Thats what I said in the Beechwood thread about their schedule. However you have to remember, this game only got schedule because a team dropped off of Paintsvilles schedule and FD had that week open. I dont think these two schools schedule this game under regular scheduling.

With todays practice rules its harder to do that.

Depends on where you are in the season. In the early weeks you want as many kids getting playing time as possible. Have to see what your backups can do with the #1's. Have to see where some of your own weaknesses are so you can improve on them. Have to see if somethings you may or may not use later will work. The district part of the schedule gets tricky, still need to work on things, but also dont want any injuries, so you balance it. Last 2 weeks of the regular season, you get there as fast as possible and go home. I also think your roster size plays a part in this, the bigger the roster, the more players to get playing time for, the less running clocks you may want. Also, when you play your JV games has a factor in this too. Many NKY teams play JV on Saturday mornings, you dont want to play your JV guys too long on Friday night, then play them again less than 12 hours later.

Sometimes its a safety and embarrassment issue though. If your starters are not very good, what is putting your backups into the same environment going to look like? Throwing the freshman to the wolves isnt always a good idea either.

You can't make a rule like that then. I am also of the opinion that it is a Varsity game, why should the Varsity kids be forced to get the short straw of playing time at their level?

Cov Cath might be in a bad spot with these early games not providing the competition they need for later in the schedule.

Id venture a guess more teams go for 2 on a regular basis then kick for 1 if you look statewide.

I get its a different level but, twice now I have seen a MS team come back from 30 point deficit to win. A third time, winning team got to 32 point difference, then both teams kept scoring and it ended up 82-25.

Not really, if you go for 2 earlier in the game its a non issue.

It also depends on the talent gap. One teams #2 could be way better than another teams #2. So as the game progresses, the talent has to get even for both teams. Example Trinity's #2's are probably a lot better than Ohio County's #1's.

Real bad as in they weren't even competitive. Its not that they lost, but how they lost. Compare it this way, Trinity is #1 in 6A with 2 loses, why, they have had competitive games and lost, ok. Hopkinsville has played competitive competition, and not show up.

Trinity will be #1 next week and be 0-3. That sounds crazy, but its probably right.

Im not sure Hopkinsville belongs in the top 10 here with 2 really bad losses.
