BluegrassPreps Class 6A Rankings - Discussion (8/27)

Class 6A

Entering Week 3, it is entirely possible that if Trinity and St. Xavier are not able to rally the troops we could be staring at an 0-5 record among the two 6A flagship programs. Trinity and St. Xavier will have stiff challenges to avoid this rarity with Moeller and Bowling Green waiting to do battle. Butler can attest that DeSales and Christian Academy of Louisville are 6A killers despite being from a much smaller class. Central Hardin will be the next in line to face one of these teams. Scott County and Male are well positioned to make a jump if Trinity falters, but Scott County will have no "cake" walk against the resurgent boys from Highlands. The Bluebirds have looked vastly improved this season.

1. Trinity at Archbishop Moeller (OH)

2. Male vs. 5A Doss

3. Scott County at 5A #5 Highlands

4. St Xavier vs. 5A #2 Bowling Green

5. Frederick Douglass vs. 1A #5 Paintsville

6. Butler at 4A Western

7. Simon Kenton vs. Conner

8. Manual -- OPEN

9. Central Hardin at 2A #3 Christian Academy of Louisville

10. Ballard at 4A Collins

Looking at that lineup of games this week, a lot of teams on this list need to earn their ranking with some good performances Friday night.

Funny you say that, I see three of the top 5 that could legitimately take losses this week.

I agree, Male better bring it against Doss Friday night.

The main team I was thinking of as I was posting that message is Ballard. They better perform this Friday to prove they are worthy of being in the top 10.

Have they won a game?

Trinity will be #1 next week and be 0-3. That sounds crazy, but its probably right.

Have they won a game?

No but they've played Boyle County and Male who would both beat almost every team in the top 10. I would not have expected a win for Ballard in either of those games and they only lost by two touchdowns to Boyle. Still, Friday is a must-win and they need to show us something in getting the win against a decent Collins team

Personally I think male will handle Doss

Trinity and X could lose this week.

And still be in the Top 5.

Are these potential rankings or right now rankings? I can not see how Ballard is top ten after that showing Friday. There's clearly a line somewhere in the top-middle portion of this list. Is this any different from another year?

I think Ballard is still getting some votes due to strength of schedule. They have a reckoning this Friday against Collins. If they don’t look impressive they will drop out.

So....how many games can Trinity lose before they drop from #1?
