  1. Because, although we see them on tv highlights, a dunk in high school is a rare feat. I was blessed to grow up watching a school that had pretty good athletes threw the years but I remember watching games against teams that didn't have one kid in years that could dunk in a game.
  2. What offense does North Oldham run? Owensboro has been average to poor against the run at times this year.
  3. Anybody know anything about them???
  4. Raymond Spaulding,IMO, is handcuffed by Trinity's system. Check him out when he's not playing for Trinity and he's a totally different player.
  5. Ohio has good basketball at the high school level. The game isn't as celebrated as it is in KY. At it's not taught the same IMO. But there is talent there. They also have some pretty big schools in Ohio. What's Fairfields enrollment now?!?! Also the way the state of KY does school districts is so different then Ohio. Towns in Ohio like Middletown,Hamilton,Lima, etc have their flagship schools (Middletown High,Lima SR,Hamilton High, etc) with big enrollments compared to the other area schools. In KY places like Owensboro,Bowling Green,Hopkinsville, etc the county schools(Daviess Co,Greenwood,Christian Co.) have bigger enrollments then the flagship programs. Flagship programs being Owensboro SR,Bowling Green High,Hop-town High.
  6. Breeden is at Tates Creek I believe. And I think Eastern has the guy that was at Covington Holmes when they won it all.
  7. Owensboro is a quality opponent and the only team that is similar to Murray on OCHS 2014 schedule.
  8. Anybody have any info? I heard Owensboro scrimmaged Eastern.
  9. It was almost a brawl after the last game. There will be no love lost in this one that's for sure. I;m expecting an instant classic.
  10. You don't want to over schedule but if you're coaching and you know you're more then likely to play a team like say Murray in the playoffs. A team that's big, physical, and athletic. I might try to schedule a couple teams similar to them during the season. That way my kids have been exposed to that. Sometimes you can learn more about your team in a loss to a good opponent then a win against a weaker one. Mayfield is going back to 2A next year, I believe, so that's another hurdle the Aces will have to prepare for.
  11. Madisonville played Henderson,Central Hardin,Murray,Hop-Town,Paducah Tilghman,Greenwood,& Apollo out of district. Franklin Simpson played Graves Co,Russellville,Battle Ground Academy(TN),Greenwood,& Logan Co. Russellville played Ft Campbell, South Warren,Franklin Simpson,Butler Co,Trigg Co,& Logan Co. Idk if you were saying they said thanks but no thanks out of fear the Aces or maybe their schedules were already set. Either way Owensboro Catholic needs to get another quality team with athletes on their schedule asap IMO.
  12. Holman actually got Spalding in the air several times with pump fakes and up and under moves. He just didn't convert the bunnies. Then of course he got in foul trouble. But overall Holman had a bad game and maybe Spalding(Who is a great player.) had a lot to do with it. I was actually impressed with Miller's play against Trinity thgh. I think he ended with 16 pts. Anyway Trinity was the better team last year no doubt about it. (Owensboro plays at Trinity this year btw.) I do believe Owensboro will be better then last year thgh. A few young players will have to step up to make the jump to real contender. The coaches are really really excited about the younger kids thgh so we'll see. The 3rd region has had some pretty tough draws for the Sweet 16 the last 5-6 years. They're due for a break!
  13. Owensboro Catholic should go back or to scheduling Franklin Simpson,Russellville,Madisonville,Paducah Tilghman,Mayfield, etc out of district. South Spencer(IN) and the Illinois school they played don't get them ready for these type games IMO.
  14. Owensboro's defense better step it up.
  15. I think this game is a little closer then most. I like Owensboro to win 35-21.
  16. I love seeing this. I've always felt you could drop a lot of KY players in other states and they would do just fine. Good luck to the young man.
  17. Idk if this is the same list Bolus uses but KYPrepHoops.com has Douglas in their top freshman list as well.
  18. GoHard no offense taken by your post. I haven't seen Douglas play since he was in middle school. And I haven't seen very many from KY's 2018 class. I just posted what I had read from Bolus.
  19. I'm interested to see what Owensboro's bench is like. The Red Devils first 5 players have been the same for awhile. The Harris kid played quite a bit as a freshman last year. I'll mention a player to keep an eye on in Deonte Douglas. Rick Bolus has him rated as a top 5 freshman in the state.
  20. I know the city of Louisville isn't producing as many nationally recognized recruits as it did in the 70's and 80's but in the last 4-5 years it's produced a solid list of D1 players. DeAngelo Russell(McD's AA/Ohio St), Q Snider(U of L), Kelan Martin(Butler), Kameron Woods(Butler/leading rebounder in the Big East),Remy Abell(Indiana/Xavier),Ian Chiles(IUPUI/Tennessee),Raymond Spalding(U of L),Derek Willis(UK), Darryl Hicks(Boston College), & Aaron Cosby(Seton Hall/Illinois). I'm sure there's a few more I've missed.
  21. If this is true this is a good look for Holman. I know he really wants to go to U of L and I think Pitino really likes his upside. Hopefully he continues to improve in prep school.
  22. I think Wright has been on U of L's campus a few times. I think he was at one of the UCONN games last year. Pitino hasn't offered thgh but he can definitely play for UK or U of L. Hope both offer.
  23. I went to see Telfair play against PRP (and Terrence Farley) at the Gardens. And I also went to see Rondo and Oak Hill play Ballard in the Garden. Supposedly Telfair was nursing a leg injury but IMO it wasn't a question who the better player was between him and Rondo. Rondo did whatever he wanted on the court. I knew then Pitino had made a huge mistake. Anyway I remember reading about Rondo scoring like 44 on PRP as a JR and I was thinking he has to be a big time talent. Not many people drop 44 on PRP. But he was still really under recruited nationally until going to Oak Hill. DeAngelo Russell has always been one of the top kids in his class nationally. Going to FL kept him from dropping in the rankings IMO. Nice topic.
