Very good football team. Plays excellent D. Has strong running game. I think there weakness is to open it up in the air. They make you work very hard on stop the run that they will complete some passes. Not sure if they got behind and had to throw, they could accomplish it. Kicking game is ok. IF Owensboro wants to turn it over, they will be in for a long night this week.

BTW, last time I saw the field it was junk. Very nice stadium and should be a good crowd.

tommy,

I hope Owensboro doesn't turn it over, but they did vs. a GREAT Madisonville team loaded with athletes (4 times and set up scores) but still prevailed 29-28. Not saying that can happen again on Friday - I hope Owensboro is focused and ready to go. Owensboro features a great running game with a big Offensive Line and good speed at the skill positions. Madisonville was extremely fast also and big up front (WKU signee at C). Madisonville has a great defense also - OHS had over 300 yds rushing in the game - if it didn't turn it over they could have scored alot more.

If this works, here is a little video from the local station:

Believe they have a very good defense. The offense starts at the running back. Arien Beasley is extremely good -- he has 4.4 speed and good size. The other backs are good and the QB can run some. They do run a lot but have enough of a passing game to make you pay if you load the box too much. WHat does Owensboro have?

North Oldham has a DE with 105 tackles...wow Ben Holt Jr. I read that NO may have another linebacker out (Graham) possibly. If Beasley is truly 4.4 he'll be tough to handle.

Owensboro has several backs they use to run, all with really good speed (although I doubt any with 4.4 - Even Mark Higgs wasn't 4.4 in high school and I'm not sure if Justin Miller had 4.4, but he had a 10.79 100 - are you sure on 4.4? wow.). QB can pass really well, but they run a triple option style offense with a big Off. Line. Several good WR's, but they prefer to pound you with the run. Owensboro's RB's include James, Phillips, Lindsay, Johnson, Barrett, Board among others. Speed in all skill positions and several good WR's with speed.

I don't know what to make of NO, they played CAL great and beat a good South Oldham team, and they shut out several teams, although I'm not sure what to make of those teams.

Owensboro has had to play 2 tough teams so far in the playoffs in Warren East and Madisonville. Owensboro beat Madisonville twice, Warren East, Warren Central, Owensboro Catholic and played BG to the final bell.

I think this has a chance to be a great game as I expect a great effort from both teams.

North Oldham has been good the past couple of years but just hasn't been able to get past Collins. They gave the Titans a better game than Owensboro did twice last year. I know that means nothing for this year, but North Oldham hasn't been given enough credit or attention just because they've been in the shadow of Collins ever since their move to 4A. Now that they are finally in the spotlight I'm sure they will take full advantage of it. Arien Beasley is one of the best players that no one knows of and you can be sure they will try to get him the ball as much as possible. He isn't the only player they have though, they can beat you through the air or with other backs. I think North and Owensboro is a very interesting matchup and one that could go either way.

I will be rooting for the Mustangs, not because I have anything against the Devils, but because I would like to see District 3 in the championship for the 3rd year in a row.

OHS will kill North Oldham. NO Contest!

Owensboro 49

North Oldham 7

Running Clock!

This won't happen, I can promise that. OHS will need to play their A++ game to win Friday night. North Oldham has good size, and an offense that likes to keep teams off balance. I like how they use Beasley in different ways and if he gets loose against OHS, he'll take it to the house. After watching several of their games, I'm more and more impressed with Beasley. The kid is not only fast but he does a great job of getting yards after contact. North Oldham does a great job with their misdirection and they love to hit the tight end in the flat. It's a simple play that keeps defenses honest. I think this game will come down to which team makes the fewest mistakes. If OHS comes out and keeps turning the ball over, the Devils will fall short of their goal for state. Should be a good one!

Going to have to stop those backs for Owensboro. They are strong and very physical when they run the ball. Locher does a great job of keeping it.

If North Oldham "just" runs the ball then it will be hard for them to get past Owensboro's D.

What offense does North Oldham run? Owensboro has been average to poor against the run at times this year.

It looks like they are a Hybrid Wing-t team.
