The Raiders will invade Rash Stadium this Friday at 7pm cst. The Raiders come in 8-3 and feature UK commit Eli Brown. The question is, can Brown get enough support from his teammates to get a huge road win in the playoffs? Most would say no, but I point to the game against Meade County in which Warren East lost 10-0 as an example that the Raiders can play solid ball if they put it all together.

It's no secret what OHS is looking to do. The Devils are a option based running team with about 3 or 4 pass plays they use. The key to beating OHS is making the Devils pass. OHS features a defense that is still trying to find its groove after starting the season well. In the Henderson game, OHS' defense was gashed but the Devils were missing a few key players. In the end, I think the run game of OHS will be too much for Warren East as the Devils move on to the regional championship.

Owensboro 56

Warren East 21

Good analysis. Just watching some film on Hudl from last year, I don't think Eli Brown by himself can help enough to offset Owensboro's speed advantage.

A couple of points - OLB Tinsley (#10) and DE/LB Crowe (#24) were back last week against Breck. Crowe had 5 tackles and Tinsley 1, so I'm not sure how much #10 played, but at least they are back. Barrett did NOT play, not sure why if Rest or what. Hopefully they can get Phillips back in a game or 2. Crowe is an extremely fast DE, and Tinsley is very quick OLB, so I think they help shore up the Defense quite a bit.

I hope to see Lindsey at the MLB with Board some. He's just a quick strong young man, great FB, but we need his toughness on D also.

My guess is Owensboro 40, Warren East 21

I look for the Red Devils to take care of business against an underrated Raiders team.

The key for O going forward is go get Barrett and Phillips back. Do that and they can play with anyone, including the vaunted Bluebirds.

Don't get them back and it's a 50/50 game next week.

Devil88 is right that Warren East can play solid ball if they have it together. The meade game and F-S game are perfect examples. If not for a couple of bad calls WE probably would have won that Meade game 7-3. Instead a fumble called after the WE runner was down on the Meade 8 yrd line and a touchdown called for Meade where the receiver dropped it while coming down in the endzone resulted in WE losing 10-0. In the F-S game if WE had made just 1 of the 3 FG's (47 yrd, 26 yrd, 33 yrd) they missed, WE would have won that one as well. Both those games were very well played and really close.

If WE has it together Friday night they can beat the big O, but it would be a close one.

I hope Warren East plays well. But an old BG fan told me before that game, "that before the game starts you are already down 7-0 at Rash Stadium". Owensboro is just tough at home.

Very true Purple. that place can be tough to play in. Would be nice to see a Warren East - Franklin Simpson rematch.

2 years ago, Warren East beat OHS in the playoffs 14-13 @ WE. Last year it was 54-12 @ Owensboro, although Eli Brown didn't play. This year's Owensboro's team is much better offensively than last year, but I assume WE is better also. I think Owensboro's big O-line will control the LOS pretty well. That's why I'm going with a 40-21 game. I think it will take some bad play on Owensboro's behalf to throw this to WE in the form of TO's and some defensive scores or field position. Warren East is a solid team, no doubt looking at the Franklin Simpson game.

I am looking forward to keeping up with this game. I just know how much trouble BG had at Rash and know W East will have trouble too. East needs several turnovers to go their way. Anything can happen, but usually the team that runs the ball the best in these cold games wins and I just like the Red Devils better in that category. Good luck to both team and especially no injuries!

The Owensboro paper is reporting that Barrett is back from a 1 game health issue, and Airus Phillips - S/RB/WR is back from a broken arm in the Madisonville game. This is HUGE IMO. As I mentioned above, Tinsley, Crowe and Philllips were all out of the the last couple of games (including the Henderson game), now all are back. That really shores up the defense and allows more flexibility in the offense.

I think this game is a little closer then most. I like Owensboro to win 35-21.
