Id say Highlands by alot. Losing Conner is defiantly a big loss, but they have backs to fill that position, and shouldnt have any trouble against Ryle. Will it be Crawford? or Head? at Running Back till Conner gets back?

I highly doubt that they are a top 5 team in the region. They have alot to prove before they can be talked up like that. I dont even think they will be able to get passed NewCath and Highlands next year in the district. Yes the kid is good, but I wouldnt be saying he can carry a team like that.

I agree, nothing is assumed. Look at last year, Holmes lost to NewCath who wasnt anythins special. All it takes is one bad game, an injury, or players that are eneligble due to whatever reason. Holmes has a very solid team, but look at when they had Jefferson, Rice and those guys. It seemed every week there was a player out due to some reason. Im not saying Holmes is like that this year because they have shown lots of discipline, but its not out of the roam of possiblty. Yes i agree that holmes and scott county are probably the 2 teams i would predict in the finals, but nothing can be assumed this early.

Thats amazing that 1 school can win the region in those 3 sports in one year. I would have to say thats the best class(athletically) to ever come through Highlands. Every refers to them when u think of Highlands football or basketball. Did Glaser ever make it to the show?

Yes Collinsworth could be coming out for the team as of now, but I see him just focusing on football once this season ends, probably Roller too. As far as the junior class goes, they are very good. Grote and Kwoleneck will be their 2 stand out players. I dont know if I can see Lother starting this year, just because of his size. Dont get me wrong the kid is great with the ball but how would he matchup against the bigger teams? The senior class really is down. I beleive theres only 4-5 seniors coming out for the team, and maybe only 1 or 2 will make the team. (Turner, Gudugli, Giesting, Messer,) I dont know how accurate the source I heard this from is but I also heard Ryan Sanola was possibly playing too. So they could have some nice size with Gudugli, Sanola, and Grubbs. The talent and athleticism is there for this team, they just need LOTS of experience.

That would be cool to have Aaron and Jeremy as Headcoach and Assistant coach, which would make for a very young staff, but I dont see it happening. I think Jeremy's time will come but not this year. I dont know why Highlands cant keep a decent headcoach. I remember Mccoy took over a whileback and was fired within the next 3 years. Now it seems Johnson is leaving also. I dont see any reason why Highlands shouldnt be considered a top team in Nky every year, I just think they need to get headed in the right direction, and maybe having two young coaches such as Jeremy and Aaron would be a fresh start for the program. They will have very good talent this coming year, they just need someone to start them up. Also, I was wondering who the coach was when Highlands had Glacier, and was the dominant team through that era? Was it Schroader(sp)?

I heard this also. He teaches at Cambell County I beleive, so hes not around the school he coaches at. From what I have heard, he doenst have much of any relationships with his players, and has a bit of an attitude towards things. Honestly, I cant say whether or not I would prefer him coaching at Highlands, but I wouldnt be suprised if Jeremy Bionomi(sp) steps in as headcoach. Hes the guy who has relations with people at the school, also he lives and dies baseball!

I'd have to go with Kiernan for NewCath (I've heard he has great size and alot of potential just like his brother). Also Clint Crawford for Highlands. He is as fast as any running back I have seen this year, he just wont be getting as much attention as he deserves because hes behind Josh Conner. He will be a big special teams player however.

Who is CovCath's ace pitcher, because i remember last year they were loaded on pitching and I thought that would be their best strength considering they didnt lose any pitching i dont think.

Id have to agree that Smith, Hamlen, and Stegman are probably the best. But how about LexCath in 06-07? I beleive. But they had Ben Revere at RB who was quicker than anyone Ive seen, and a tall atheltic WR who could jump and get anything, and I cant think of his name.

I think Isler has the most experience and the best arm but what really hurts him is his mobility. The thing about Kues and Gudugli is that they are both quick and can move around the pocket. Isler is more of just a drop back passer. All it will take is a quick defensive line, CovCath's line isnt very quick but they are big. If Isler is rushed to throw than he will have alot of trouble completing a pass, he has a slow release and needs time.

No problem at all! I dont see why this is such a big deal about chewing tobacco products at sporting events. I can understand cigaratte or cigar smoke because that can effect the people around the person who is smoking. But as long as the person who is chewing is spitting into something and not on another persons feet, I dont see the problem. If it "grosses" you out than dont watch or pay attention to it so much. Hell, how can you not have a chew or dip at a baseball game, that is one of baseballs greatest traditions and always will be,whether its the players or the fans.

Id say he could play 2nd, his glove and speed are probably better than the second baseman now, but his bat is not very good. So he would probably be DH for considering the only pitchers CovCath has are mainly hitters and dont need to be DH for.

How can you put CCH in the same ballpark as Highlands? Brossart has been there a year and Highlands beat them by some 40 points his only year there. I think CovCath; under coach Brossart, need to prove themeselves before we can start comparing them to Mueller and Highlands.

I have to disagree with CovCath at #2, I dont understand how they can be ranked this high and have everyone talking about them. Most of their skilled players have hardly seen any varsity playing time. I think Bowling Green should be in the 2 spot. If this is true though with Covcath at 2 than 5a most be weak this year and there must be a huge gap between #1 and #2

I'd have to disagree with Dixie being on the list at all, they lost most of their talent from last year. Also I'm surprised to see Highlands ranked ahead of Trinity.

Listerman has been a very good coach at CovCath. He seems to know alot about his players on and off the court. I will say that he knows alot of people and has good relationships with most the familes at that school, which is a reason why so many people have a hard time listening to others "bash" Listerman. The man has been around the game for many years and just lives and dies for basketball at CovCath, you will not find another varsity coach that has the same spirit or enthuasism as him. However with all of those good things being said, I think there have been mistakes made by him the last couple of years. In 2005 CovCath ran over everyone in the 9th region tournament and was actually a favorite to win state, but they were smoked in the first round by a good but beatable Apollo team. It shows that the talent is there but the players arent coached or toughened up enough to play with the big teams in the games that count. Also getting rid of Maile and Schrand was a decision that still has me puzzled:confused:

I agree that Colerain is almost a guaranteed loss, but I think they will only lose that one game. Highlands is just much too athletic and skilled this year, I dont see Covcath being any matchup at all, and Lexcath is always solid but I'd say Highlands has the edge. As for Central, I dont know much about them. I am not a "homer" for Highlands or anything, its just player by player I think they can beat almost anyone

I agree, how about we try the top player from every school this year in the 9th Dixie -Leslie? Connor - Brake Bellvue - Jones Newport - Klass Highlands - Sainola NCC - Conner CovCath - Maile Ryle - ? Bonne - Cotton? Holy Cross - Roenker .. anyone else want to add on or add input

Lets face the facts here. TOG is a CovCath homer just as Diamond Dandy is a Ryle homer. The both of you will argue till the end to prove your point. But this forum is about the 9th region next year, and I am sure there is plenty more to talk about around the region other than the constant argument over who thinks Maile is good or not. There have been plenty of posts on here about his summer season, and pretty much anything that happens with him in baseball. But lets let the cards play out, and just see where his future ends up being, instead of trying to predict it. So anyway, what about the rest of the teams or other top players in the region?:thumb:

I dont think this class is as good as everyone is saying. Yes Maile will probably go down as the best player to come through CCH, but other than that they will have average to above average players. There is nice role players to go along such as Isler, Darner, Nutini. But there is just way too much hype about this class. Their freshman year, it may have seemed they would be the best class to come through there. However each year they slowly lost alot of talented players due to lack of interest or certain issuses. I agree that Maile deserves all the credit he is getting, but come on there is just way too much talk about this team.

There is no reason to be talking about Roenker this much ppl. He is a above average pitcher but is not an overpowering pitcher. In the 9th region if a pitcher can throw 90 as is being said, than they will be considered one of the best if not the best in the region. I have seen him throw and honestly i dont think he was hitting even mid 80's.

I heard a rumor that the Jones kid from Bellevue was leaving next year and considering Cov Cath or Moeller.

I disagree that this group will be better. I dont think one of them has had varsity time at wide receiver. Isler will be a solid QB, but I just don't see them having any real threats to throw to besides Van Sant.
