My wife just completed classes and now has a permit to carry. She chose the S&W 38 special. My one sister in law is in the process. Bottom line is everyone gets to choose how they want to protect their home and family. I choose Ruger P345(45 cal) for me.My neighbor chooses a Louisville Slugger to protect his home, he is not a gun owner. My other neighbor has three dogs that are "yappers", but all three wouldn't stop home invaders from entering their home, but they would let you know somethings going on.

I think Jim Mora said it best a long time ago "playoffs? are you kidding?,playoffs?" My all time favorite commercial. -

For the record we will call her Aunt Bea. She is quite some lady and has produced some very good LB'ers that played for the Birds. She is a member of the River Downs Turf Club. Every time I call her or visit her, she is watching football on tv, when available. How many 85 year old women watch football on a regular basis? Obviously with her age she can't attend the Birds games, but she is always with them in spirit.

The "full ride " includes books, housing and tuition fees, but where do college football players get spending money? They are not allowed to have jobs, and some if not most, come from single parent low income housing. The bowl games alone bring in millions of dollars every year and the players don't get one penny of that money. The Wisconsin coach was going to get a 5o,ooo dollar bonus just for winning the rose bowl.College player rep, Dr. Gary Argovich thinks the players should be paid. I would also like to add ,that a full ride scholly is based on the player staying out of trouble, keeping their grades up and making the team every year, so the full ride is not a given for four years, but renewed every year. Your thoughts?

Senior Autograph sessions?
hoosierbirdfan replied to Whackem'n'Stackem''s topic in KY Football (High School)
Also in the early 70's, the cheerleaders would stop by the players houses on Thursday evening and drop off a mini box of wheaties. The box of wheaties would have a hand written message on it, to support the team. I don't know if they just went to the starters houses or if they did this to all of the players, back then the team didn't have many players . -
Senior Autograph sessions?
hoosierbirdfan replied to Whackem'n'Stackem''s topic in KY Football (High School)
I remember when I was a big kid getting high fives from Holly after every Highlands touchdown at the Boyle game last year. :thumb: Back to the thread, nothing about the autographs is negative to anybody involved. Their is nobody stopping the baseball or basketball team etc etc. from giving autographs, but football will always be tops at Highlands. -
I respect your opinion, you are entitled to it. You might want to go back and look at some game tapes from Bardo's senior season, arm strength and accuracy were never a question. I can remember the 7 on 7 with Moeller in the spring of 09 and everyone was saying that Moe's QB was one of the best in the nation at that time. Well, on this day Bardo was much the better passer.Bardo's long passes were very accurate and his short and medium range passes were like heat seeking missles. Both of these QB's deserve to be in the HHS great category. After Bardo's injury I can remember him running back kickoffs with his arm in a sling , his tuffness is not questionable.

Question for Highland's Fans
hoosierbirdfan replied to Mayfieldsportsfan's topic in KY Football (High School)
Agreed ! Something else I've noticed is since going to the platoon system around the 08 season, even with a roster of around 90 players, is that their are some talented Sophs who are starting for HHS in key areas. I believe their are two underclassmen starting at DB for the Birds. Many of the JR players from this year started as Sophs or got major playing time last year. I won't start naming them because I would forget somebody. It wasn't that very long ago (before platooning), that you had to be a super stud to see any playing time at all as a Junior, except for special teams.Wow times have changed. The depth of HHS might be a problem for Collins, safe travels to everyone and hope for an injury free game. Go Birds!!! -
Highlands/Collins 4A State Championship (Predictions)

I predict that both teams will play their hearts out. On a side note , will there be any local radio coverage of this game live, for those few who do not have a computer? -

I doubt seriously that the Birds get shut out by Lex Cath this year. In fact, since gambling is against BGP rules, I'll just say, I'm not worried about losing my farm. Highlands put up 24 against Elder this year and Lex Cath is not Elder. Go Birds!! -

Maybe not on this particular play, but he was handing off on high snaps all night long. -

.............and Seth Hope #82 had Bir running for his life, when he wasn't sacking him. Great game young man. Still say McCoy is the toughest kid on the team, gets hit by LB'ers all night long and pops right back up. -

So if Lex Cath wins and if the Birds win, Highlands will have to play at Lex Cath the follwing week? -

IHIGH says live video broadcast, you might check it again to be sure. -
See post #13, second paragraph. I totally agree. Big O lineman making downfield blocks for QB, wonder what the db's were thinking with that 290lb freight train coming at them? :scared:

I was surprised from the time I parked my car, to the time that I got in my front door after the game. I parked on Indiana Ave. where I usually park and crossed Memorial PKWY , looking down the Avenue of Champions I didn't see anybody. It was like a ghost town and this was 35 minutes till kickoff. I got to the two guards and asked them what was going on and one of them said "it's kind of slow tonight". There was very little traffic in front of the school on Memorial. So I bought my ticket went through the gate and saw very few fans in the bleechers for both teams. This is a playoff game with a team that we haven't played in the regular season and we can't get the home side of the stands full? Now for the game I really can't comment because I"m not sure what I saw. I know #55 had a great downfield pancake block on one of McCoys keepers. I saw #11 for the Birds make a touchdown saving tackle and also stole the RB shoe while making the tackle. It seemed to me like a lot of young talented players for the Birds , made a lot of big plays. I hope #74 for the Birds is ok. Ashland players played their hearts out. Number 60 for the Tomcats at LB'er played a great game with a lot of hard hits. I talked to some of the fans from Ashland at halftime . you could tell they were proud of their team. The long passes into double coverage, I don't know. I will NEVER question Coach Mueller, all he does is win state titles.
