  1. Looks like there is plenty of room for more state titles! :thumb: Go Birds!!
  2. VOR, I'm not sure if I agree with your disappointment. As said before, Trinity is one of the best teams in the country. Yes, I was hoping and expecting that the Birds would have done better also. The Birds scored 21 on the Rocks against their first team. Obviously, the Birds were working on their passing game and not running the ball very often. T had problems stopping the passing game of Highlands without having to guard against the run. I was disappointed when the Birds didn't score inside the Rocks 5 yard line. I agree with Sweep the T people have a lot of class and I love their stadium. Perhaps, we should save this thread until we see what the powerhouse do against T on that tough Trinity schedule. If the powerhouses don't do any better, then maybe the scrimmage wasn't so bad after all. I hope all the injured players on both teams recover fully and quickly. Any updates on the injured players would be appreciated.
  3. What makes you think BG is #1? IMO, BG has the weakest schedule of the top 4. HHS,T and LOU.X have much tougher schedules. :idunno:
  4. Well worth the price of admission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like Kentucky bourbons, two of the finest!!!!!!!!!! Go BIRDS!!!!!!!!!!
  5. HighlandsLocalSportsRadio.com Try that, I don't have a link.
  6. Elder 2013 Varsity schedule: 8/16 Mason (scrimmage) H 8/23 Lakota West (scrimmage) A 8/28 Middletown A 9/6 Upper Arlington H 9/13 Francis Howell H 9/21 Lakewood St. Edward A 9/27 Indy Bishop Chatard H 10/4 St. X (oh) A 10/11 Moeller H 10/18 Winton Woods A 10/25 Highlands H 11/1 Lasalle A
  7. I have been to all the T vs HHS scrimmages. Believe me, the players don't think it's a practice.
  8. Congrats to coach Beatty, well deserved. To answer your question, NO. We know that we have one of the best coaches in the country.
  9. Could it be the Elder faithful has heard that THIS could be the best team EVER at HHS? Actually, I think it's funny how Elder and some other schools take this approach when there is a chance to lose to the Birds. I would think that Elder is the favorite by playing at home. Making excuses before the season even starts? What's up with that?
  10. Is it Friday yet? Should be a great scrimmage and hoping both teams come out injury free.
  11. I got enough playing time to letter. I only lacked talent, size and speed. :lol2: :lol2: Other members of my family ended up with all the traits that I was lacking. :idunno:
  12. You do know someone will take your post to heart, then we can hear them wine about the pros recruiting for HHS. On a more serious note, think about it. Is one player on a high school team as deep and talented as the Birds are, going to really make a difference ? Over 100 players on the varsity roster and 40 to 50 of them having lots of game experience and we are not talking special teams. I don't care if they transfer or get recruited from Mars, they will not make a difference. I thought Dale had "lost it" when I saw the starting QB (McCoy) returning kick offs. Shows you what I know. Dale knew if the injury bug had hit, he knew he had an experienced QB ready to take his place. Over the past 6 years there have been many injuries to star players, some season ending injuries and some that held the players out for several games. Patrick Towles gets a concussion in the Elder game in the first quarter, and McCoy came in to lead the Birds to the victory. Austin Collinsworth sits out several games with a thumb injury , and once again the Birds don't miss a beat. Mr. KY football candidate Josh Conner breaks his leg in the Male preseason scrimmage and sits out the almost half the season, he did play some but was never the same. Once again an experienced player took over and the Birds don't miss a beat. Bardo has a season ending injury in the Cincy X game , Towles takes his place and the Birds don't miss a beat. Brandon Roller has a season ending injury his junior year , Birds win state with a valuable experienced replacement. Are you seeing a trend here. I'm sure there are more examples that I'm forgetting or not know about. I haven't even started on the players that were not 100% and still playing with those injuries. My point is, this Birds team doesn't need tranfers because they have plenty of experienced studs ready to step in. This comes from decades of building a program , and having the coaches with enough knowledge to teach the players what it takes to win on a yearly basis. My bottom line is , HHS doesn't need to recruit, plenty of stud players with plenty of game experience, ready to step in when needed. So , in my opinion, one transfer or recruit doesn't mean squat to a team that is as deep and talented as the Birds. I was a transfer. I went from St. Catherine which is also in Ft. Thomas to Highlands. I played football my Freshman year, but there wasn't anybody screaming "foul". :lol2:: What's up with that? :idunno:
  13. Birds vs. Rocks (what more is there to say.) Go Birds !!!!
  14. Ft. Thomas people are very generous. Is it really that big of surprise to see the Collinsworth's make a generous donation to the Ft. Thomas schools? Many people over the years have stepped up and donated to the "cause." Some are BGP members whom I wouldn't even start naming. . People of the fort donate what they can, money, and services by doing volunteer work. Obviously, the Collinsworth's are in a position to donate more than the average family, well, you know why. Can we get back to the thread topic, and not worry about who is donating where?
  15. Ru will give them ample time to respond, he's calling their bluff !! They can't hide behind the "I don't want to lose my BGP account," any more. :thumb:
  16. That green light is not going to get any greener.  Just went to the store to stock up on blue Kool-Aid. :thumb:
  17. Really? How many transfers do they get per year and what are their names? Where do they transfer from? I'm waiting for your reply.
  18. Great post Harry. :thumb: Somebody finally "gets it."
  19. I say if Trinity goes undefeated with THIS SCHEDULE , #2 in the nation, no doubt about it. Congrats to the T program, now go whip those out of state teams !
  20. Too many Abners to keep track of. A Highlands household name for sure. :thumb:
  21. I didn't know the GCL had more than one level. The truth is Highlands from KY will be doing nothing more than representing Highlands from KY. Just like Elder will be representing Ohio. It's two teams, and one cannot make a "blanket statement" or decide which state has the best football this year, solely based on one game. Two years ago Trinity went into the pit and gave Elder their worse loss in school history, did that make KY football better than Ohio football, no, all it did was make a statement that T was better than Elder.
  22. ...........and your source of information comes from where? LOTS OF HEAD TO HEAD MATCHUPS BETWEEN OHIO AND KY TEAMS, should be entertaining to say the least.
