I know over the years that Highlands has always been considered a finess team and not much talk about how tough they are. It is the people that don't go watch the Birds or frosh Birds practice two a days in August, that make this assumption. I think the reason people look at Highlands as a finess team is because the offense runs so smoothly. Toughness is instilled in these kids as early as the FTJFL, and the older they get the tougher they are.

The only Ohio team in the fab 50 is Cleveland St. Ignatius @ number 26.

Message boards are kind of funny in their own way. They are like reading the Bible or the Daily racing form at the local racetrack. Everybody reads the same thing, then everyone walks away with a little different meaning.( I have read both, but,I'm a little better at the ponies.) If it made you laugh, thats great ! It was intended as a compliment .

I can also remember Dale being concerned about the RB Harris being "too physical" at spring practice. Dale was going to adjust the practices to keep his D injury free and healthy. WOW!

Respectfully, I will have to agree with the above posts. I think Lottoman and company have a good grasp on what is happening with the Birds. One thing that I would like to add about Hayes , he has "juke" moves that Barry Sanders and Walter Payton would be proud of. I don't think anybody is getting "too carried away" the Birds have tons of talent.

Your kidding , right ? How can you question the toughness of a player that is playing on one of the best teams in the country against arguably one of the toughest schedules in the country. He takes a "shot" in a game against X and leaves the field, and now you think he's not tough ? I have known some awfully tough high school players and have seen them leave the field, but I wouldn't even dream of telling them that they aren't tough. I have seen Quick play in person I can tell you he is just as tough as any player on any high school team.Playing WR and returning kickoffs shows me that he is plenty tough. Maybe you will see how tough he is while playing for a top notch college team on Saturdays , then a pro team on Sundays. I don't understand the Texas part of your post, are you saying Texas players are tougher than the ones from Ky or Ohio ? I f so , I believe you are sadly mistaken. I think anybody that has played football has had to sit out a play or two, but that didn't mean they weren't tough. If X's defense only hit Quick one time, then X's D needs some serious improvement.

I thought I read somewhere that the Quick family was from Tennessee. I think they moved to Ky and James would be a sophomore that year. I'm sure someone will correct if I'm wrong.

IMO, attendance will be based soley on who the CCH opponent is. The numbers will be up when playing the Birds for obvious reasons. If CCH does play Moeller, it won't matter to Moeller where the game is played or when it is played. Heck the Birds and Moeller would play CCH on the river bank if it was on the schedule, without any problem at all. If CCH's first game under the lights is against Moeller or anyone else for that matter,I would think the lights may have a negative effect on CCH's football team. First it would seem like an away game for CCH , and second, everyone will want to be the first to beat CCH under their newly installed lights. Also the Bird hunters dressed in their blaze orange (hard core CCH students) might be too excited to get a shot off,( called bird fever) with all the excitement of the newly installed lights at CCH. If CCH has a bad season and loses often and early, the lights aren't going to mean squat, from the attendance stand point. Im looking forward to the rivalry , lights or no lights . Both teams will be ready to "get it on", day or night. My question is ,why did it take so long to get lights ?

Thanks for the added information. The thing about the state champ list, it didn t say who the runner up was. I went to the state title game at the Akron rubber bowl, and saw Cleveland St. Iggy play Massilon. I can't can't remember the year, but it looked like two college teams were playing.These were two of the best teams that I had ever seen.It was about 10 degrees out with the wind chill about -19 degrees and the place was packed. Blankets and hot chocolate were a must that night. Iggy won the game.

Number 1 kind of surpised me.

Maybe someday I will learn to do the link thing. I stumbled across this information while I was searching for the previous stats of Ohio vs. KY matchups. It's true, I have no reason to lie. This site also explained why these regions were ranked the way they were. If someone has time maybe they can find this info and post a link. I'm not sure if I could find it again. (Maxpreps).

This game in my opinion, was the biggest and best game of all time for the Birds. The one thing that shocked me was ,in the last 25 years, mighty Colerain has the same number of state titles (1)as the football powerhouse St. Francis DeSales has. Colerain is not in the GCL.

Trinity has plenty of Ohio teams on their schedule ,many from the GCL south. A few other Ky teams have Ohio teams on their schedule also. I thought it would be nice to see all the matchups in one thread rather than looking up all the schedules. So post , who. where and when , and the predicted out come.

I assume you eat cake too? Back to the thread topic, why doesn't SK schedule or scrimmge Highlands ? (You brought the H word up,so I'm not thread jacking.)

I think this is a good schedule for the Camels. Some of the better teams in Nky and one unknown in Ohio(Milford).Even if the Camels lose a few , it will help better the team as the season progresses. This is a program that is on the rise with a good coaching staff. ( Read between the lines ), some programs play the same teams every year and every year it's the same old story.You know who they are, their mediocre every year and they are not pushed to be better because of the weak schedule. Look at Cov-Cath , they played a very brutal schedule and lost a lot of games. What they did gain is a lot of respect and improved the quality of their football program by leaps and bounds.I can't speak for all the Bird fans , but I respect the Cov-Cath football team and their coaches. The Camels will get pushed to the max , but the only thing that matters is that they will see their weaknesses and improve every week.

You don't have to go to Highlands to eat cake. Just find a way to put SK on Highlands schedule., and they will gladly give you and SK all you want, all it will cost you is a gate ticket , and a bunch of humility.

There are obviously many aspects to being a good QB. What are Birs strong points , running the O, arm strength, acuracy , throwing while scrambling , running designed QB draws and keepers , and how about TD's to interceptions ratio. Don't try to say Bir is #1 in all of these , because I won't buy it. I think Bir is a very good QB , but , the best in the state , I'm not sure. He should be in the top 5, IMO.

HHS vs CCH , can't wait ,should be a great game.
