  1. I know that not much is known about Bryan Station around the state but the team last year was young and returns alot of talent this year. There are possibly 4 or 5 division 1 kids that are going to be senoirs this year and the best junior lineman in the state. Kris Bolton (6'1" 235) and Octavian Crutcher (6'2" 220) are the best LB dou in the state. Chaz Mitchell (5'10" 185 4.48) is a top WR and Kalib Ball (6'6" 295) is athletic enough that he played TE last year but is a top prospect at OT. In addition, Darrian Miller (6'6" 285) is a Junior OT that is the best lineman in the state, period. Also, there are other talented kids like Tevin McCadden (5'11" 195 4.5) RB that will have is time to shine now that the Cornett kid graduated.
  2. I hate to say it but this is the coach's fault. Recruiting gets more and more competitive each year and the coach needs to market his players. The days of sitting back and waiting for schools to come to you are over. I wish the best for Adam, Tony and the rest of the kids around the state in their situation. It is a shame that quality kids with good grades don't have a home yet.
  3. These things are a joke. They need to break up the "All-State" teams into big school (4A-6A), and small school (1A-3A). No one can tell me that the kids on these lists from 1, 2, & 3A schools are better players than bigger, faster, and stronger kids that played better competition at the bigger schools. If you don't agree, watch a 5 or 6A game then watch a 1 or 2A game, and tell me there isn't a difference.
  4. Market the games for a change. The KHSAA goes above and beyond marketing the sweet 16. The dates, times, etc. are pushed well in adance of the event and tickets are presold to students, parents, and the community at large. Why don't the football championships receive the same push? BG or the KHSAA needs to step up and try to bring football fans to the games not just the parents and students from the competing schools. IMO this is what makes the Sweet 16 so successful, this spring look around Rupp you will see many HS basketball fans not just factions from the competing schools.
  5. Golfer has some grat points and I agree that there are many underlying issues here. I would like to add that there seems to be limited community support. I have been to games in the city and out in the surrounding counties and football just doesn't draw in LEX. I went to the HC / Trinity playoff game a few years ago and it looked like Trinity had more fans there than HC. Maybe this goes back to a previous poster that was talking about family and community support but there has to be a reason that these schools do not get consistent support. If the students would just come out it would create a better atmosphere, i mean Dunbar has over 2000 students and I went to their first game and there were like 500 people there.
  6. Has anyone seen the new rule changes and proposed changes for this coming season? Heard they are limiting or cancelling June practice, possibly no 2 a days, legthening the dead period and putting a ceiling on the number of practices before the first game. I know we all want KY football to be competitive with other states and we have the athletes and coaches to do so. IMO the quality of football in KY gets better every year, due in large part to the hard work of the coaches across the state. But it seems that for every step forward we take 2 steps back due to insane rule changes brought on to coddle basketball. How can coaches and athletes be prepared for a long season when practices get cut every year?
  7. I think alignment and pairings have made things difficult. I have watched the football in this city the past few years and its pretty good ball. HC loses a hearbreaker this year or they very well could have gone to state and Station gets the brunt end of a bad tie breaker or that game in the first round could have been played 3 weeks later. I think this year we will see a LEX team in the 6A finals because they won't have to play a NKY team until the semis and won't see T or X until the finals.
  8. In Lexington there are several: Lafayette - Eric Shaw 5' 11" 195lb RB Burt Mingey 6' 9" 330lb OT Henry Clay - Branden Johnson 6'2" 185lb WR/FS Bryan Station - Kris Bolton 6'0" 220lb LB Octavian Crutcher 6'1" 215lb LB Chaz Mitchell 5'10" 175lb WR/RB Tevin McCaden 5'10" 185lb RB
  9. BS Played JC the third game of the year, the QB is a Soph and was still feeling his way. I guess the coaches didn't feel comfotable slinging the ball around after that first pick that went for a TD. The QB HHS faced was the same kid with 8 more games under his belt. Once again, as in week 1, HHS fan is underestimating their opponent. If you want to win try not to infect your kids with your attitude, it alomost cost them last week and it surely will cost them this week. You need to hope the HHs coaches make some changes on defense this week because they cannot stop the JC offense in a 3-5-3. The weakness of the defense is off tackle and that is all JC does, run off tackle. Prepare for a high scoring affair, I said it in page 1 and I'll say it again JC wins at home 35-31.
  10. I think Bryan Station proved that you can run off tackle against Highlands. Just a hint for HHS fan this is all JC does, over and over and over again, they will pound the rock and control the clock. JC in a close one 35-31.
  11. Like I said no contest. Great job coach Matney and the Eagles, now go pound HHS.
  12. I have seen both teams play. As a neutral party I have to say this - Cov Cath is SLOW. They have 1 kid that can burn, the WR #9 I think, and that's it. Do not underestimate the speed JC plays at, they always look slow on film and go out and rush for 400. CCH fans are living in the past, this is not 2 or 3 years ago, I don't know what happened to the program, but I know what I see. JC huge at home, CCH could play with 12 on defense and JC still runs for 450 and 7 scores. JC 56-21 Don't waste the gas on the trip Colonels, its along ride home.
  13. What pre game stuff are you talking about? No one else that was there even knows what you are talking about.
  14. I find it interesting that highlands fans have alot to say about a team they have never seen. Station lost 4 games by a combined 20 points and the starting defense has not given up more than 28 points all year. For those that want to point to the Johnson Central score, They scored on an interception return and a kick return. I think it will be closer than many of you think.
  15. Johnson Central rolls 49-21, they are just better, period. If you don't think so then you are thinking with your heart not your head. Bigger + Faster + Stronger = Win, unless they give it away
  16. The player that was hurt is Nic Cooper, heard it could be a bone bruise to go along with the knee trouble the kid is already playing with. He has played well all year, hope he gets back out there soon. Also, it was only senior night for the band, actual athlete senior night is this week. As for the crowd, well when it rains in Lexington that's what you get, the fans here are not as die hard as they are elsewhere.
  17. Should be a great game that may decide the district winner. The key to the game is slowing down the Eagles' running game.
  18. The scrimmage followed the 10 plays each format. Bryan Station won 21-0 with 7 of those points coming during JV time. Both offenses moved the ball but turnovers were a problem for both teams. Station had 4 turnovers and SK had a couple includining when they got to the goalline and had a pass picked that went back for 6. Both defenses played well and I think they both will do well this year.
  19. Bryan Station has Turf and Lafayette gets a turf field next year.
  20. They've had alot of coaching turnover since their last run. It seems they have a new head coach every two years. Hopefully this coach will be given enough time to build a program.
  21. Bryan Station has Jesse Childrey 365 bench 545 squat Roy Philon 315 bench 505 squat Dekovan Howard 350 bench 565 squat
  22. As a side note, they don't get talked up much on here but the Defenders have 5 other seniors that are potential D-1 canidates on the team this year. Jesseray Childrey - 6'1" - 305 lb DT Chase Blackburn - 6'7" - 348 lb OT Earl McCann - 5'11" - 195 lb DB Nick Cooper - 6'4" - 335 lb DT Muhammad Saifullah - 5'9" - 165 lb WR The Big ones are strong and the small ones are fast.
  23. Yes he can ball, as a testament to his athletic ability he also plays FB and runs around a 4.7. he has 2 D-1 offers that I know of.
