  3. I was surprised at Boone's lack of size and speed. That being said they are an excellent grinding team, they flat wore Lafayette down. I was impressed with Boone's TE, tough kid with great hands, Good win for Boone.
  4. It's about time Ashland woke up and stopped letting a 1A school compete with them. Congrats Tomcats and good luck the rest of the season.
  5. Great comeback win for Station, hope the 2 kids that got hurt are ok. Tevin McCaden is amazing he needs to have his name mentioned for some state awards if he keeps it up - 36 carries 263 yards 4 TD's - 500 yds & 9 TD's in 2 games. Hopefully the Lexington schools keep it rolling Saturday.

  8. BC was not even up enough to get a running clock! Matney should know that the unwritten rule is that it is acceptable to keep the 1's in until the coach feels the game is in hand or the competition is completely overmatched and the margin requires a running clock. That's why they have the rule in the first place. Seems that Coach Matney can give the lumps but can't take them - what would he have to say about a defeated opponent bringing this up?
  9. Tevin McCaden from Bryan Station, had to sit behind some good backs the last two years (D.L. Wilhite and Patrick Cornett are both playing in college) but will be one of the best in the state. Vs. GRC - 15 touches 317 yards thats 21 yds per touch and 5 TD's

  12. Size does matter, 6A teams SHOULD dominate 1A teams, they have a larger base from which to draw players should be able to platoon and keep players fresh, and have a larger alumni and booster base from which to raise money. However, as with everything in life there are variables the most important being the guy running the ship, if he can get those athletes out for football and knows the game they will beat most smaller schols, if he doesn't have a clue and the staff can't coach they will lose. Football is special in that 11 players working together with great leadership can fell a giant despite their size or enrollment. By the way there is a reason all the 6A teams you have mentioned can't beat smaller schools - the HC, period.
  13. The running back #28 was out for the whole 4th quarter, that was a freshman running the ball in the 4th. Great job Defenders, still looked a little rough but a win is the right way to start the season. Defense looked good offense needs to improve but overall a great win for Bryan Station.
  14. Unfortunately, it looks like another great kid with talent is not recruited by UK. Another reason why they are picked to finish last in the SEC again. Good luck to Miles this year.
  15. What number is grubbs? I think its 55. By the way where did 63 go from last year's team?
  16. Bryan Station is big and athletic, they lost three off this unit so they could be very good if they come together as a unit. Front line goes: LT - 6'5" 275 LG - 6'1" 305 C - 6'2" 301 RG - 6'5" 285 RT - 6'6" 295 By the way I've seen more than one person tout a player as a D1 prospect, FYI no lineman under 6'3" is a D1 prospect.
  17. Freshman running back at Bryan Station, Nate Stuckey, was killed in car wreck last night. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and teammates.
  18. BS will be better this year than last year. Yes they lost a couple of good kids to graduation but the juniors were the core of that team. Keep in mind that they were also playing with a sophmore QB that cost them some games early on. Most importantly, 7 starters return on defense and 6 on offense in cluding the QB and 3 on the O-line (which will be bigger and more athletic this year). They can be really good and if nothing else a tough out come playoff time. By the way I think it is a bit unfair to these kids to judge them based on what BS teams did 5 or more years ago. Those teams were awful and poorly coached. If anyone has watched them over the past three years they have seen solid steady development of the program as a whole and there is no reason to think that this group can not win at a high level.
  19. Bryan Station players going to: Kentucky State - Chase Blackburn, Nic Cooper, Earl McCann, Jesse Childrey Pikeville - Isaiah Davis Georgetown - Patrick Cornett Campbellsville - Michael McKinley Butler - Muhammad Saifullah and Roy Philon to Louisville
  20. Station could win some playoff games this year but they need to finish in big games. In all their losses they had a chance to win late and couldn't close the deal. If they learn how to finish a game they could be very good.
  21. Once again it's Highland's to lose. Maybe a fresh redistricting will provide some challengers en route.
  22. BS had over 65 for spring ball with no 2 way players, straight platoon with quality backups. They lose 7 contributors off last year's team that had only 1 2 way guy, Philon. They have the talent and depth to break the Lexington drought.
