Yes, agreed. You take their consistency for granted, but the proof is in the pudding. This year, I thought they were hurting not having some top-end athletes like they usually have (losing Letton hurt), but they also had some kids to step up. I had underrated Griffin most of the year and was also a really big fan of Ogbogu the more I saw from him.

1998 and 1999 Clay County teams. Had a guy who led them in scoring a sophomore tear an ACL and was never really able to play again. Worked hard all year to make it back for the end of his Junior season, plays a few minutes at region and a few at Rupp before going down and it's hurt again. Also had two guys who transferred from OBI (which is in Clay County) who'd went to Clay County's public grade schools that were declared ineligible for the 1998 season. Both of those teams were really good, but both could have been much better as well.

I really liked Gullet when I saw him at State two years ago. I told a few people that if you'd have taken away any knowledge about he and Hall, that you'd have thought Gullet was the one who was more hyped. Obviously, he was probably playing a good game that night and it isn't meant as a knock on Hall, just a compliment to Gullet.

Congrats to Mr. Christon as well. Really glad to see Transy still investing in local kids, and it should be fun seeing these guys do work for the Pioneers.

Congratulations to Mr. Griffin. A fine season and career at Lexington Catholic and a kid who I probably underrated most of the season. Best of luck at the next level.

You were one of the few people who thought he was D1. Good call.

Played at John Hardin and took them to their first state tournament, then on to Morehead State (IIRC, he was on most of the Faried teams). He has the most 3's made in Morehead State history and made it as far as the NBADL. He was also an assistant at St. Catherine's College at one point. More recently, he was the head coach of Team Manimal during AAU, and they seem to be doing pretty well so far. This past season, he was the head coach at Casey County High School last season, his second as a high school head coach. I saw them play at the Lexington Catholic holiday tournament, and while they weren't the most talented team, he seemed to get plenty out of them. I can see why he'd be an attractive young candidate for lots of schools. He played in both college and the NBADL, has been a college assistant, and has been a head coach of a successful AAU program, so it isn't as if he's some guy from AAU who has latched onto kids in hopes of getting an in for a high school job. The biggest knock on him is probably going to be that he doesn't have a ton of head coaching experience, but that doesn't mean I think he'd be a bad coach (again, his Casey County team looked fine given what he had to work with and I don't really know how much more anyone else would have gotten out of them), but I'd say that he's a guy whose staff is probably going to be important until he gets a few more years under his belt.

He must share a name with the guy who was the subject of an April Fool's Day hoax in Sports Illustrated a few years back. The Curious Case Of Sidd Finch - MLB - SI.com "Perhaps no story in Sports Illustrated's first six decades engendered the response of "The Curious Case Of Sidd Finch." The piece, by longtime SI contributor George Plimpton, told the tale of a young man who could throw a baseball 168 mph yet was as mysterious off the field as he was hard to believe on it. The story appeared in the April 1, 1985 issue, and neither the date nor the strangely worded subhead ("He's a pitcher, part yogi and part recluse. The most credible list is the one with every kid who deserves to be on it there. No one is going to Google 'Apologies to James "Beetle" Bolden' a few years from now and it show up in results. Add it and go. Like @ColonelCrazy said, he didn't notice the list was only 10 names, and I wasn't counting either.

Congrats to Mr. Miller. Unreal what a State Championship run will do for a player's college stock. You can't beat winners.

In addition to the guys in the 11th I named above, I really like Dontell Brown of Dunbar's game. Not really saying he's going to top out at a huge level or anything, but I do think that there's a place for him at the next level at the right school. 11th: Ross Jenkins - Lafayette (#1 overall at the moment) Zan Payne - Lexington Catholic (long term potential) Tre King - Lex. Christian (needs to develop, but could blow up) Peter Whitman - Lexington Catholic (height) DeAndre Dishman - Bryan Station (athleticism) Dontell Brown - Dunbar (toughness) That's what I'd say about each right now if I had to rate them and say what separates each from the pack right now.

Nothing but love here. I really didn't know his #'s were that gaudy with the Travelers, but I'll definitely take your word for it.

Congrats to Mr. Rose. Kid is more athletic than people give him credit for and will do well if he keeps working. Between he and Trimble, I think Coach Valentine did a really good job preparing them for the next level. LCA is definitely raising their game.

11th place Tates Creek is a little tougher than 11th place Henry County or Eminence though. Superior teams playing night in and night out. It's not a horrible question to ask if nothing else.

Even if it meant adding a spot, I do it for Bolden. No one argument on a guy you just have to take off for him, especially with so many different ways you can look at it. Regardless, there aren't tons of Kentucky kids going D1, and Bolden is for a reason. Has to be a spot for him on there somewhere.

Legit question: what do you think he averages in the 7th or 11th? I ask because I'm curious. I'll be the first to admit, I haven't seen tons of him.
