Before I suggest a change let me be CLEAR that every player on that team is really talented. This is not a matter of good or not good. It's a matter of really good and a "little better than really good."

 

With that said, I have Bolden on the list.

This was by far the hardest year to make a BGP Team. I feel for everyone involved because it truly was a very very difficult list to put together this year.

I agree that Bolden should be on the team. I also think Jeremiah Bell of Boyle County should be on the team. I feel like he proved to be the best point guard in the state and along with Hagen Tyler formed the best backcourt in the state. At the end of games if it was a tight ball game teams playing defense had to deal with Jeremiah having the ball in his hands and his ability to get into the paint whenever he wanted to. In fact, I bet if Jeremiah would have taken 25-30 less three pointers that he would have averaged over 25 points a game. I never saw one single team stop his penetration to the rim. His ability to penetrate and score or get fouled generated a ton of points for Boyle County this year. Jeremiah also hit game winning shots multiple times this year. CAL, LexCath at Rupp, Danville in the district tournament are his shining moments and they all came late in the season. I've heard it over and over and over again that without Jeremiah Bell then Boyle County wouldn't have gotten to where they go to. While some people mean it in a disrespectful manner when they say it there is some truth to that and IMO that makes him worthy of being on the BGP Team.

 

And I say this with all respect due to the people who have to make this list. There are no easy answers and someone, somewhere is always going to be upset about someone they feel is deserving. I appreciate the work the people here at BGP do. It's not easy at all.

Tucker Sine and Malik Carothers had the best Backcourt.... Question: is the list supposed to be all Seniors?

Even if it meant adding a spot, I do it for Bolden. No one argument on a guy you just have to take off for him, especially with so many different ways you can look at it. Regardless, there aren't tons of Kentucky kids going D1, and Bolden is for a reason. Has to be a spot for him on there somewhere.

No disrespect to Sine and Carothers but no they did not make up the best backcourt in the state. Perry and Wilson were a better backcourt than them among quite a few others. Theobald/CVH. Bolden/whoever else was with him. Timmy Taylor may have been the best pure point guard in the state and him and Jacob Conway were lethal. Cam Justice/Austin Combs may get a nod over Sine/Carothers also.

When is the last time Kentucky had multiple D1 guys not make the team? Crazy how good the talent has gotten in the state.

Are you basing "BEST" off talent, college offers, production, or etc??? If it is off of production, the proof is in the pudding... Not saying the other duos aren't good as well, but I am saying that big names don't impress me as much as overall production... From an Offensive and "Defensive" standpoint, this duo has to be considered one of the top. They led their high school team that had no "True" post player to the State Championship game knocking out one or two of the aforementioned duos. A real basketball enthusiast can see past the stats and hype of other duos...
