  1. After the first quarter the hardest thing to figure out was if the actual score was right on scoreboard due to some confusion on some three point shots. Otherwise this game was over by halftime. The Crusaders will need to regroup quickly as they have Newport on Friday.
  2. 7 Villa 5 Burgin 3 Paris 2 Scott 1 New Cath Tb Villa
  3. St. Henry played like they did not want to be there. They missed a lot of defensive assignments and seemed out of sync all night. New Cath seemed better prepared for this game and took it to St. Henry. Good job to the New Cath players and coaches. Newport Central Catholic 73, St. Henry 43 St. Henry (10-9) - Barnett 3 5 12, Anderson 3 2 9, Gulla 2 0 4, Hils 1 1 3, Seifried 2 0 4, Toberate 1 0 2, Bessler 2 0 4, Carroll 1 3 5. Totals: 15 11 43. NewCath (12-6) - Ryan 0 2 2, Meyer 3 0 6, Pangallo 5 0 12, Hightchew 5 2 12, Geisler 6 8 20, Schmidt 5 2 15, Doyle 1 0 2, Morse 1 0 2, Moore 0 1 1. Totals: 26 16 73. St. Henry 13 9 13 8 -43 NewCath 24 17 22 10 -73 3-pointers: N 5 (Schmidt 3, Pangallo 2); S 2 (Barnett, Anderson).
  4. Newport Central Catholic 73, St. Henry 43: Junior center Jake Geisler scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead NewCath, the No. 4 team in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll. Derek Schmidt added 15 points for the Thoroughbreds. Schmidt, a senior forward, also went 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc. Grant Pangallo and Brady Hightchew scored 12 points each for NewCath (12-6).
  5. Not alot of hype for this game from either side. Does New Cath have anyone out for this game or are they at full strength?
  6. Cougars are on a roll. They get out of Campbell Co with an 8 point win
  7. Cov.Cath and Boone have fallen already to the undersized Crusaders this year. Will be tough to beat New Cath at home. St. Henry might still be minus a player or two due to illness and injury. But I think it will not be double digits, and depending how the Cru handle Giesler and Pangallo New Cath might be their next big win.
  8. You have to say this a good win for St.Henry also, they played short handed at Dayton and came away with the win. Dayton played well and the 3 ball kept them in the game. St.Henry only had 4 players score.
  9. Fun game to watch but remember the Crusaders were short players.
  10. Carroll and Thorburn were out last night and heard both will not be playing tonight.
  11. If I was coaching I treat the subs just like the starters if the sub is making mistakes and is struggling replace him with someone else or put the starter back in. Basicially coach your game plan and make the starter or the sub stick to it if they struggle replace them with someone that can get the job done. Thats what I want from all my players execute the game plan like we ran it in practice if you struggle I'll put someone in that can. I'd also if I replaced a sub I explain what he needs to do and get him back in before that game ends unless he shows a negative attitude.
  12. Seems size wise the two teams match up well if the Crusaders had everyone I actually say they would have had the height advantage. Should be a fun game to watch.
  13. Do the Green Devils have any size this year? That could be big in this game against the Crusaders.
  14. Should be a good game alot closer than one would think. St. Henry will be without a couple of players due to injury and illness tonight.
  15. If Holmes is not focused tonight Scott could pull off the win tonight. It will be a close one, got to go with Holmes at home though.
  16. Good game wish Newport would have advanced but you fought hard and the 9th region is proud of your effort. Did hear part of the game is Tucker back with the team now?
  17. I agree tough to beat a team 3 times is why I went with Ryle, but if Connor can get there I say they could do some damage.
  18. IMO the region could breakdown to these final 8. 33rd District Boone & Ryle 34th Distrct St. Henry & Dixie 35th District Holmes & Cov. Cath 36th District Newport & New Cath Two very good teams in Highlands & Connor being left out. IMO could be a rematch of Boone & Holmes in the finals. But I think that 2 teams that come in under the radar that could be dangerous are St. Henry & Ryle.
  19. 7 Villa 5 Pendleton Co 3 GRC 2 Ft.Knox 1 Dixie TB Villa
  20. This is a toss up. Two things have to happen for Boone to win IMO their guards have to score and secondly they need their big guys to get Highlands bigs into foul trouble. If Boone gets it going they win if not Highlands will win.
  21. How about a stat showing over the last 10 years how many of these coaches have seen their players move onto play at the next level be it Divison I,II, NAIA etc? For some of these student athletes playing a sport such as basketball helps them to afford a higher education. All of the coaches have had success and deserve alot of praise for what they have accomplished over the years. But NKY has had some very good players over the past years was just wondering how many of their past players have been helped through playing basketball for these coaches obtain a college education.
  22. I think they wore down Newport and it showed in the last quarter they just did not have enough time left in the game to pull out the win. With the amount of time Carroll played in the first half he should have been well rested.
  23. What is the criteria for this? Is it wins, regional titles, or just coaching skills? Or a combination all rolled into one.
