No big surprise here...ironton has a pretty good team.

Rams had six turnovers (four lost fumbles and two INT's.) Five of the six turnovers gave Ashland the ball inside Raceland's 30-yardline. hard to overcome that. Rams will get the turnover bug straightened out, and will be a solid team this year.

Ugly was exactly right...way too many mistakes and turnovers. Rams should have been up four scores at the half and had a shutout. Only the first game though...those things will be ironed out. RAMS will have to clean up the rough areas before rolling into Putnam next week. RAM coaching staff will see to that...the goal is to improve each week and be sound fundamentaly.

Well, some seasons the RAMS have a decent sized Freshmen class; other years, not so much. Probably the biggest reason for the small schedule would be due to the class size, but also people have to remember that Raceland is one of the smaller schools in Class A, so alot of those freshmen also have to play JV ball, not to mention some actually see significant time on the varsity level. Most schools would never have to use freshmen on the varsity or JV level much, if at all. Also, believe it or not, sometimes it is hard to schedule a lot of freshmen games with different teams for various reasons.

The RAMS better learn how to hit and wrap when they tackle or it will be a LONG season. Need to avoid the injury bug as well.

I think The program will be in capable hands with the entire staff plus the addition of Coach Evans there to run the ship until Coach McGlone's health issues clear up. The big question will be do the Devils have the supporting talent to add and support their new QB and Googie Hayes, Huffine, etc...

Ditto...Coach Trimble will do a great job.

Actually Pikeville intercepted a pass to stop their final drive.

Pikeville's big plays were the difference. Van Hoose uncharacteristicly missed two FG's & two extra points, but Maynard made some bigtime plays and pass completions. So did their running backs. Fairview played well in spurts, and had their chances, but in the end Pikeville made the big plays.
