What does Russell need to do to improve in 2012? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I see Russell as a big question mark this year. Coach McGlone has had a lot of health problems this year, he may be back, but it will be tough. Also, Russell has a new assistant coach and a new player in farther/son Combination Lee and Lance Evans from Boyd County. Lee has been the head coach at Boyd County for several seasons and now takes an assistant position at Russell bringing his son, who is more of a throwing type QB which goes against what Russell normally does.

 

Now, as a father of a son who is a good, throwing, QB that is very athletic would you bring him to a program that is going to throw the ball three times a game? Unless you knew that team may sling it around a bit?

 

Russell could be throwing the ball some this season, which would be odd to defend for most teams that are used to playing Russell's Wing T offense.

It seems like every year people question Russell...people say Coach McGlone has gotten too old to coach "today's game"...How often in his tenure have the Red Devils had to rebuild? I think the word people should use is reload. Deep, rich tradition...excellent coaching, and good athletes...that is what you can expect from Russell. Coach is a class-act, and his teams always play hard. The only question I have about Russell is what are we going to need to do to beat them this year...

I don't think he is too old or irrelevant. I am concerned his health will not allow him to return to the sidelines. That was my question. If he cannot or chooses not to return to the sidelines, will the offense change due to the throwing QB? This all leads to early season speculation and a little mystery. I like having something to watch for and read about.

Personally, I think quite the opposite. I think Coach McGlone has proven that what he does is effective. But, like sidelined has stated, it's not about his coaching, what most of us are worried about is his health stopping him from coaching. Now, if he's able, then let him have at it. But if he's not able, then there are a lot of questions.

I think The program will be in capable hands with the entire staff plus the addition of Coach Evans there to run the ship until Coach McGlone's health issues clear up.

 

The big question will be do the Devils have the supporting talent to add and support their new QB and Googie Hayes, Huffine, etc...
